Got it and will post in thread!
I got books! One is not a Sherlock Holmes but is by Conan Doyle. Also have a book on the tartans of Scotland, There’s Bored of the Rings, a Harlan Ellison book, and a book on Conspiracy theories. Got some good stuff to read while my hip heals. Thanks!!!
When was it supposed to have been delivered?
It has been delivered, and acknowledged by recipient.
@Reeses_Monkey I sent your books off early last week, I’m hoping they’ll show up soon!
Great, I’ll keep an eye out for them. My mailman is going to think I’m stalking him.
Still haven’t seen mine.
My books arrived today! You were spot on with the choices. I’m a big fan of Moore’s work. Have you read his series based on the viewpoint of the Fool from King Lear?
I’ve heard of Gibran but not read any of his books. And the title of the third book is right up my alley. (I’m currently reading “How to Be Happy, Dammit!” and this looks to be in a similar vein.)
So thank you, thank you, et merci! No to go sit on my porch swing and read a good book.

Glad they got there in a reasonable time! I’ve read almost all of Christopher Moore’s books, I absolutely love Stupidest Angel and Lamb. I just finished his latest not too long ago, Shakespeare for Squirrels. It is great!
I suspect you’ll greatly enjoy Manson if you are warped enough to like Moore…
I laughed out loud when I read this because I am currently reading The Stupidest Angel and warped is exactly the right description for it!
Huzzah! Ring the Bells and let the ululations begin! Thanks to the inimitable @romansperson I have reading material! The biography of Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand and Consider the Fork (A history of how we cook and eat) by Bee Wilson. I am immediately intrigued! Thank you again and I would be remiss if I didn’t thank @Czarcasm for putting this together. I’ll be cracking into one of these tonight!
I believe that leaves only two more to go-not bad. I enjoyed coordinating this and, if all goes well, I wouldn’t mind doing it again.
I got my box from Baker today! Except for the last I have not read any of them:
S.M. Stirling, “Conquistador”
Spider Robinson, “User Friendly”
Poul Anderson, “Time Patrol”
Christine & Christopher Russell, “The Quest Of The Warrior Sheep”
And the one I’ve read before…but never in this particular edition: Robert Louis Stevenson, “Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde and Kidnapped” Compliments of the Hotel Taft. No date, just an imprint at the bottom of the first page, “TARRY AT THE TAFT” New York. Apparently even ABE Books is unclear as to the actual publisher, the date it was published and how many different books were published under this imprint. I love a mystery-Thanks @Baker!
Well, I think I am going to call this test run of the SDMB Book Exchange a success! I don’t think anyone was disappointed in the books they received (I know I certainly wasn’t), there were only a couple of minor glitches and I had a blast running it. I plan to do it all again next year, so this time next year be on the lookout for:
SDMB Book Exchange II- Electric Bookaloo!
Yippee! You done did a good job and we’re proud of you. Now I’m gonna get back to reading my new books.
Ditto!
Thanks for organizing it, Czarcasm.
I finished one of my books last weekend and really enjoyed it. The book was Noir, by Christopher Moore. I’ve enjoyed most of his books and was glad to add this one to the “good” pile. Thanks for the good read, @swampspruce Swampspruce!
@Reeses_Monkey I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’ve always loved that genre and thought he did a good job of it.
On that note, @romansperson , I really enjoyed Consider the Fork, it reminded me quite a bit of Bill Bryson’s At Home and I learned a few things along the way! I’ll be digging into Seabiscuit after I finish You’re Invited by Jon Levy.
