the almost turkey day mmp

Got a turkey about a week ago, but it won’t see the light of day any time soon. It was a freebie from the grocery store, so it’s now in the freezer where the ham that didn’t survive the power outage was.

Speaking of power outages, more are expected this week. Think I need to buy a generator if only to keep the freezer running. At least they didn’t bill me for power use while they kept us in the dark. Some folks were seeing bills for “estimated” electricity consumption.

Thanksgiving will be spent with PWAISDN’s mother and some other relatives of his.

Well, sounds loverly, although I’m a fair weather outdoor cook, and don’t have a smoker. So, ummm.

I had a fish tagine for tea, with couscous. It had orange juice in it, which the jury is still out on, but otherwise very nice. Posh for a Monday.

Oh, and dressing, for me, if the thing you put on a salad. Stuffing is stuffing is stuffing, in or out of the bird. Victorians be damned.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 43 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day. Rah. Also I shall make sup. No need to leave da cave today, which is fine by me. After all the new season of Crown needs to be watched.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Your average temp is probably a few degrees warmer than our, but remember you only need to be outside for a few mins every half hour to hour to add more wood chips / more liquid to the pan / check on the food being cooked & you’re close to a heat source while doing such. I frequently go out w/o a jacket on.

The latest in my series of bizarro dreams - I was married to OJ Simpson, a pre-movie career OJ. And we were doing electrical work in our house. No idea where that all came from - all the murder stuff aside, I never particularly cared about him. My brain is a strange and mysterious place.

**sari **- my very favorite drinking glasses came from a supermarket promotion - actually the end of the promotion when they were trying to get rid of them. I got a dozen at a quarter each, and I’m down to my last 3. I’ve searched many times for similar glasses - specifically the size - with no luck, dammit. I dread the day when these last 3 break.

Back at my desk ready to attack Baby Engineer’s project - attack as in work on, not destroy. And I really need to get my resignation down on paper. Not in denial, just, I don’t know…

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Toosday!

It’s a foggy 32 degrees outside. We didn’t stay long at the park, nobody did.
Echo needs a bath.
This should be fun.

Not much on the agenda for today. Just the usual irk and house irk.

Laundry is launderin’ away. Two loads done hung up or folded as need be, third load in the dryer and fourth load in the washer. Also got the chikin ‘n dressin’ ready to go in the oven and back when that time comes. Go Me!

blurfage Irking as usual. Asked and got permission to only irk a half day on Firday after Thanksgiving. Sorta a longish weekend. The girls are happy about it even though one will have to use leave and the other one will go without pay since she is just a flex. I told anyone if they wanted to irk to have at it. They all agreed to forgo the pay or leave.

I need to make a trek to the grocery store as the cupboards are bare once again here at irk. I want soup since it is coolish.
Happy Day all.

Lunch break!

We’re having a facility T-day dinner on Thursday. I need to mosey up to the reception desk and see what’s being brought, then decide what I’ll bring. I’m inclined to just buy something - my desire to cook/bake is minimal. We shall see…

Morning all. Stayed in until 8:30am because I can, it’s now 56F heading for 61F and we could get close to 70F on Thursday/Friday.

Dishes need to be put away and kitchen cleaned (I did clean my computer screen this morning, so something around the house is cleaner).

Decided to ask my brother for a new ‘wagon’ (as it kids’) for hauling soccer stuff. My current one is beginning to fall apart and it will be more useful than most of the electronic stuff he’s been getting me (I really am a Luddite).

Now to get the house warmed up and some sustenance consumed.

Tbhthbhthbhbbht, Swampy!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Laundry and toilet cleaning day. I’ll end up at Golden Corral for Thanksgiving thhs year.

Stuffing?;):stuck_out_tongue:

Back from grocery-ing. Got enough to hold me through this week and longer. Nap time now.

I wish.

I went to Trader Joe’s for my bi-weekly Cobb salad. I bought a 14-pound brined turkey. I wish people would sell 8- or 10-pound turkeys. Anyway, I put it in the office freezer so I can put it in the fridge when I get home.

I took a nap. Didn’t mean to, fell asleep sitting in my chair.
Now I feel worse.

Trying to make up a menu for Sunday, for whatever reason friend2 wants us to cook together. It will be fun, according to her. I think sitting in a restaurant with a margarita in front of me is more fun.
So I have to decide what to make.
I know she’d like some fake crab salad, which is fast and easy to make. Tastes better when made ahead anyway. That’s not really a meal, although if I get some rolls, and maybe a salad of some kind. But that is more of a summertime meal. Maybe a big pot of chili.
When she has people over she does it up big, with (non alcoholic) drinks of some kind, an appetizer, dips and stuff. Last time I was there she made 4 different recipes for everybody to try.
Not that I feel like I have to live up to her level, just that she enjoys cooking and I don’t.
Maybe I’ll make shrimp scampi with linguine.

I wonder if money is tight for her, I have a whole mess of gift cards we could use.

I’ll figure something out.

Sure – I mentioned playing rugby years ago!

rugby players have a reputation for eating their dead since that whole Andes thingy
Speaking of which a new coworker on his first Day One was sitting across from me at our holiday meal/lunch break and asked if by any chance I had ever played so I said sure. His next words were “I hated you!” He was a back for Cleveland that last year I played. I live in one of those small worlds.
And we got the official word – no work Thanksgiving. Seattle fears the drivers would blow off the day and/or customers.

If MyAncestry ever comes back and tells me I have a son …

I’ll be baking cod for supper. Sides TBD. Ten work days left, spread over 4 weeks. Guess I should get on that letter…

I don’t know if there are grocery sales in my area. Nothing unusual. We already had Thanksgiving in October.

Endoscopy in a couple days, yay!

He wasn’t wearing gloves, was he?
