I’m dying here…….Bill O’Reilly? Trump’s been out of office for what……5 months now……and opening for a washed-up conservative has-been like Bill O’Reilly’s the best he can do? What happened, was Glenn Beck not available? By December 2022, he’ll probably be tagging along to O’Reilly book signings at the Barnes and Noble in the Sarasota mall, or something.
I don’t know what this “History Tour” is, but I hope it involves musical duets and dance numbers……I might pay to see that.
Actually, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Trump backs out at the last minute. The event wouldn’t be cancelled and all his marks would be stuck with ultra expensive tickets to two hours of Bill-O whining about liberals in Ancient Greece and Colonial America, or something.
Maybe somebody rescued that wax statue of trumpy from the dumpster (trumpster?) at Madame Tussaud’s. They can play some of his old speeches through a microphone. Maybe use wires to move the arms up and down?
I think it’s hysterical because that’s an old story, Madame Tussaud’s apparently staged that photo-op tableau a week or so BEFORE the November election, calling it preparatory.
I know it’s an old story, but the picture is so GREAT! It made me happy to see it again.
I remember reading that some museums did ditch their trumpy statues. Probably one in pretty good shape (at least as good shape as the real trumpy) could be scored on ebay or somewhere.
ETA: Here’s one. It’s only $15,900 with free shipping!
In a Texas Tribune article in August of 2019, Laura Cruz-Acosta, communications manager for the El Paso city manager’s office, said the debt Trump owes the city actually added up to $569,204.63.
In November of 2020, the El Paso City Council voted unanimously to hire the law office of Snapper L. Carr to represent them in an effort to get Trump to pay for the charges incurred during the 2019 visit.
And we all know how much Trump would prefer to litigate than pay.
Did everyone here see that recent article, that a Texas judge wrote that Trump must pay up before he comes to Texas to visit The Wall? (Sorry, I don’t have the link handy. You did all see that news, right?)
The article(s) I saw didn’t say what the circumstance was that led the judge to write that (was there some relevant case or hearing before his court?) nor if or how the judge proposed to enforce it. (Is he going to order everything of value impounded that Trump brings with him, down to the necktie off his neck?)
(Don’t you just love these instant real-time notifications? Practically makes this Board feel like a live on-line chat room!)
ETA: Okay, here’s a link to an article, not necessarily the one I read. May be paywalled. Aha! Discourse tells me that none other than @ParallelLines has posted this link already!
Another ETA: Okay , I didn’t realize that this is none other than the same link he posted in the immediately above post!
@Leaper wins todays award for awesome, unexpected internet tie ins.
Back to the thread . It’s okay @Senegoid, I should probably have one-boxed it, and no one is going to complain about trying to have cites. And yeah, I’m with @ThelmaLou here. It’s great to have legal action against Trump, but outside of maybe Austin, I don’t think anyone in Texas is going to be confronting him about his debt to a single city. Certainly not while he can and will continue to appeal or argue to dismiss on pretexts until juuuuust before the heat-death of the universe. He’ll probably be represented by the GhoulianiBOT666 Legal AI (well, arguably I) by that point.
All-right-y then! I wish him good luck and hope he can find the intestinal fortitude to follow through. And personnel to physically block trumpy from setting foot on Texas soil or arresting him when he does. What would be the chain of command? Do judges give orders to law enforcement officers? Or is that a mixing of judicial and executive branches?
It’s amusing to speculate but it’s not gonna happen, amirite? If anyone gets in trumpy’s way, Greg Abbott will shut them down.
