Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of <snerk> 69! <snerk> and N.O.S. for the day. No real big plans for the day for either of us. No desire at all to get out in whatever retail madness may be happenin’. We may do N.O.L. at Golden Corral. Or not. Again crowds. I await a package from FedEx that contains some meds as I need to sign for the package so nuttin’ will happen until that happens. Who knows, I may sit here all day.
Hope all who celebrated had a nice Thanksgiving. From what I have read, so far it looks like everyone had a festive day. Alien maybe in son’s Not The Girlfriend’s family it ain’t a holiday until it resembles an episode of Cops.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, well, we’ll see what the day holds forth.
Pleased to announce that the smoked turkey went over well, with much mmming and gnawing. I still think it would have been even better with just a hint of hot sauce in the glaze, but wifey nixed that idea. Too many gustatory wimps in the family, I suppose - her included. Oh well, bellies was filled, thanks was expressed and accolades was had, so it were a good day! Now, everyone concentrate on digestion today. Take your time, do it right…
Yaay meds. Waiting for a delivery of anything sux.
Yesterday here ended up rainy most of the afternoon, but (of course) warm. We still had our dinner outside under the roof.
And a fine feastette it was. No real culinary screw-ups, and during cleanup we only spilled a couple cups of meat drippings on the floor. Nothing got broken and nobody got slapped. I score this one a “win”.
Today: Long since up & fed. Put some leftover asparagus into the scrambled eggs. Very civilized. The carcass has been simmering into stock for about 4 hours now, so only 2-3 to go. The Sun shines, the breeze breezes, the air is warm & life is tranquil. Elsewhere the Hordes descend upon the Mall and the Buy-it-ernet, and here we sit, yakking with 'yall.
Well, we survived. All three of Son and DILs kids were there with their kids and their kids kids. Five littles under the age of five. It’s kind scarey to think about what it’ll be like when that lot get older. And eldest Grandsons wife is pregnant again, so they’ll be another one soon.
We had turkey and ham and mashed N.O.T.s and some kind of bean casserole, and chicken pot pie and two kinds of salads and three kinds of pie, plus beer and wine coolers ,and wine, and coffee.
A good, noisy time was had by all, I think.
My blood sugar was up this morning.
Wifey and Daughter are out in the studio painting, so I’m alone with you guys.
The only thing I’m probably going to do today is go pick up a prescription. Black Friday holds no appeal for me.
FCD, daughter, and SIL just left to see the Thor movie. I don’t like comic book movies, so I opted out. But I’ll have supper ready for them when they get back.
I also cleaned the cat box because someone forgot to do it this morning, and I cleaned the critters’ fountain. Go me! Shortly, I’ll settle in to knit my MIL a couple of washcloths while watching TV. Provided I stay awake, of course.
I love working Thanksgiving! I have the coolest job, it involves giving people smiles & great memories. I have one of those “be careful what you wish for” positions that is incredibly stressful but I’m finally getting comfortable in the role & I OWNED it this year.
Kwityerbitchun’, you work inside.
I almost missed dinner last night because I went to unload the truck & then was further delayed as someone flame roasted their car on the median of the interstate. Some plates were being cleared as I walked in. I made up for it at dessert, though because I’m S-M-R-T (smart). Instead of those wimpy little dessert plates, I took the last dinner plate so I was able to fit a slice of each of the three pies & a scoop of two (of the four) flavors of ice cream. I’m not sure why it thinks it was peeking since it was sitting out in plain site in the middle of the table but that pie was good enough for another slice. My Thanksgiving dinner is cooking away in the back yard. If dinner is anything like lunch (a very yummerific piece of Norwegian salmon in a maple/horseradish/mustard glaze) it will be wunnerful.
Hope those who celebrate Thanksgiving had a nice day!
Over 'ere it’s been a bit dull, skool, irk, starting to plan out Christmas… I’m not looking forward to the driving up to visit parents. I reckon it’ll be at least a 6 hour drive each way, solo, not counting breaks, and assuming no traffic issues. It’s almost as far as it’s possible to go while still being in England.
Howdy Y’all! We have done nuttin’ all day. I read, played on teh intartoobz and achieved nappage. OYKW watched teevee and achieved nappage. All consumption of vittles has been via forage for what you want. All in all, a good day.
Cotton yarn. It’s great - the dishcloths are thick, ribbed (because of the stitch I use) very absorbent, and sturdy enough to do moderate scrubbing. And I just happen to have a bunch of cotton yarn, so I just dipped into my stash. They knit up fast.
Just finished throwing together a big pot of N.O.T. soup. If they don’t want to eat when they get back from the movies, it’ll keep just fine for the weekend.
The kids are planning to leave in the wee dark hours to miss traffic and get home with enough time to rest before Moanday. They’ve packed the baby stuff they’ll use right away and the rest is stored here. I’m guessing they’ll mostly pack the car tonight, except for their traveling clothes and toiletries.
Living with them will be a challenge - we’ve gotten into a routine and they won’t fit into it, but we’ll work it out. With luck, within a year or so, they’ll be in a position to get their own place. We’ll deal.
**Nut **- I wish our drive to see FCD’s folks was only 6 hours. In ideal conditions, we can do it in just under 13 hours, but it’s never ideal. We’ll take 2 days to make the return trip, but we’ll go down there in one fell swoop. ugh.
It was 60 and sunny here in no. Illinois. I irked til about 2, then went to the gym and the fuds sto. Put up my tree and was sweating. Dinner was a Hamburg party topped with mushrooms and sour cream. And an artichoke. Sweet tatie baking for tomorrow. Those suckers take forever.
Here In middle Jawja. I have aleary wore out my welcome at my boy’s house. So I shall recolate to brothers aboufd. My son is a POS. May have mentioned it before. He has cut off his nose to spite his face.
Done, finished complete.
That’s all I’m gonna say about that.
