wow from what I’m told black Friday here was a flop all together cousin said he was at Walmart about 9 am and it looked like 9 am last sunday …only place that looked busy was gamestop … other people online said if the predictions are true next feb some store chain are going to finish dying off …
I’ve got a good reason for being up stupid early - the kids got up a bit after 3 to head out. I heard them, so we got up to say good bye, and now that I’m up, chances of falling back to sleep are slim. Daughter just texted that they’re in Virginia (all of 30 minutes from here) and they should be hitting I-95 within an hour. I’ll feel better when the sun is up - driving in the dark can be scary - especially during deer rutting season.
But the house is all ours again, till June. I’ve got a lot of laundry for today - extra sheets and towels - and I’m hoping we can move some firewood as we’ve talked about doing for a month or so. Can’t think beyond that - sleepy brain is coming back.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. It’s a balmy 33 degrees this morning.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of <snerk> 69! <snerk> and N.O.S. for the day. I need to go lay in some provisions so I must go to the sto’ at some point today. I’m havin’ some dental work done (gum surgery) on Tuesday so I’ll need soft foodstuffs for a few days. I envision a lot of soup, chikin’ ‘n rice, smashed N.O.T., yogurt, puddin’, Jell-O and other soft substances in my near future. On the plus side, ice cream is a soft food.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I suppose I could purtify and go brave the public. Le Sigh.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
So iffn I watch the news tonight & there’s a story about some guy planking in the fruits & vege-tables, I should think GA & not FL? :dubious:
Moaning. I’m up. Only feel like I was run over by a car this morning, which is an improvement from the other day when I tried to report a hit & run… by a freight train, despite not being w/in a mile of RR tracks. Day-late Thanksgiving dinner was yummerific; even made a dessert in the smoker; almonds.
In the past five days I did two events, compromising three days that I had to be up by no later than 4:30 am; combined sleep over those three days was about 11½ hours.
In the past six weekends, I was away for three of 'em, of the other three, one was ‘easy’ with only a 14 hour day out of the house; the other two had 21 hour days out. Now we begin the most miserable time of the year.
Between, cold, (& especially) dark, & the @#$%& holidays (with everyone being busy with shopping & parties) there are no events (after a mini one this afternoon). I typically take a week or two of down time to recover/recharge, but about ⅔ of the way thru it I start getting all twitchy; I’m not a sit-around type of person.
Now I must get to work cutting & cooking; it’s post-Thanksgiving Jambalaya Day!!!
Oh, & Swampy; don’t relocate to Michigan.

It was good to be back in my own bed last night. While at Dad’s, the sinus crud settled in my throat so I came home with a cough. Good drugs and a more humid environment is helping.
Towels and sheets are in the wash. I need to finish unpacking, then hit the grocery store for provisions. A friend broke her ankle in three places and had surgery while I was gone. Her son is taking care of her horses, but a group of us are taking turns taking the evening meal to her and her husband (she’s his caretaker). I’ll be making a casserole and salad for them tomorrow evening. Other than that, I’ll try to squeeze in a trip to the dog park before returning to irk Monday.
Great adventure raising our bed. I need to store my yarn and craft stuff in rolling bins that slide under the bed, but our frame was just a wee bit too low. So FCD made 6 legs from 4X4s and screwed them to the frame. It raised the bed an additional 2", giving me plenty of space for the bins and making a high bed almost too high. I’m thinking I’ll need to get a small step for my bedside.
Also, second load of laundry in the washer, first in the dryer, 4 or 5 more sorted in the laundry room. Some of it may be pushed to tomorrow. Dishes are done, so yay! And after breakfast, we ventured into WalMart and, among other things, we got replacement batteries for my watch. I was going to buy a new watch, but I couldn’t find one that I liked as much as the crappy old one I have. So my sweetie replaced the battery and life is good.
Leftover N.O.T. soup for lunch. So goes my exciting day.
Sorry to hear you’re finally ripping off the band-aid there Buttercup. This can’t be a new problem and the only upside is that from here there’s only healing and increasing calm, not more strife. Still, it’s a shitty way to wrap up a holiday. {{hugs}}
Very cool. ![]()
Jambalaya is hot & spicy, just the way I like it. Iffn I didn’t have plans for this afternoon, there would be much (more) eating of it, washing it down with a beer or five.
Moomm then you need stairs for your bed. The dog will appreciate them too.
Thanksgiving went well. Turkey was brined, and left to rest in the fridge. I rubbed the skin with a mixture of herbs and whatnot, and then into the oven. I do a high temp roast, with the turkey on a stand. It was my best turkey ever, I do believe.
We saw Coco yesterday. It was very good. My husband’s family is latino. I think they really got the Mexican family life on the nose. Not that everyone dresses in traditional garb, but the family dynamics and the essence of the culture were spot on.
Other than that, the time is a blur. Still need to buy that refrigerator.
Third load in the dryer, second in the washer. We’re watching TV and I’m making dishcloths for my MIL. Good times!
Last load for the day is almost dry. The bed is remade. Daughter is almost home. I finished one dish cloth and I’m halfway thru another.
It’s been a productive day!
Howdy Y’all! We went to :eek:WallyWorld:eek: for provisions. I like a fair amount of their brand of stuff plus OYKW needed to buy him some new undies and that’s the best place to buy undies around here IMO. We had N.O.L. at the bar just down the road from us and I watched my dawgs swat some (g)NATS in Etlanner.
{{{Butters}}} sometimes that’s all that can be done. Still a hard thing to do.
*UGA folks like to refer to Jawja Tech as the North Avenue Trade School. GT is located along North Avenue in Etlanner. Hence the name (g)NATS.

Well, catching up. And I’ll be doing that a lot in the next month. Yesterday morning I hit a Sporting Box Store and stocked up on some ammo and then I went to the annual Black Friday Shotgun event at the club. We do a lot of games that aren’t exactly things you can practice for. For those who are in the know, shooting trap basically from a 65’ handicap, standing on one house and shooting the birds from another house, and having three guys ready to shoot at one with the 2nd man only shooting if the first misses and so on. It was much fun and much good food but I basically threw the guns in the safe and had to head right for work. I’m doubling tomorrow (usually a day off for me) and then Wed and Fri as well. I am hoping for good long days tomorrow ------ if I give up a day off I want the maximum money allowed in Da Jungle for such things.
I buy my undies at Kohl’s. Rode Miss A., went to the Mart of the Wall. Put some more Christmas decor, and am now chilling. Got 3 good books from the liberry so will be heading up to read in bed. Ursala Kitteh will join me eventually.
Walked, napped. Watching the Kung-Fu marathon on El Rey Network ,and making Chinese BBQ chicken, with green tea rice and black bean broccoli with Szechuan peppercorns. I sense a theme.
swampy, I buy my unmentionables from Tar-Zhay.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 44 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 70 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan today is deheathenization followed by N.O.L. at Steak ‘n Snake bein’ as we have coupons that include shakes and I will allow as how they have pretty good but ridiculously overpriced shakes. After that chillage shall ensue. Not a bad plan for the day.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Purtification for deheathenization must also occur at some point.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
