Grom asks what your favorite non-Ash Bruce (the God)Campbell role is? Mine is his part in Darkman, whatever that was.
Why would you even bother naming it when you don’t even know either a) the movie or b) the role?
No contest: The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. I loved that show. It STILL steams me that Fox cancelled it.
Also, does Grom remember that Bruce’s part in Darkman lasted approximately 10 seconds and contained no dialogue?
Brisco County Jr., duh.
I also liked him as “the heel” in Crimewave.
I second Brisco County Jr.. Great show.
I also like his guest appearances as Autolycus on the Hercules and Xena shows.
Grom doesn’t know that Bruce was Shemp in Darkman or he would have mentioned it. In fact, if this thread is anything like his others, Grom won’t be back to this thread.
Campbell’s role in Darkman was “Final Shemp”, i.e. the last disguise Darkman dons before disappearing into the crowd at the very end of the movie. Campbell has no dialogue and is on screen for about five seconds.
My personal favourite Campbell movie is Army of Darkness (“Gimme some sugar, baby!”) but his biggest self-parody was as the insane plastic surgeon in Escape from L.A..
Another Brisco fan here. I loved the modern cultural references.
I liked his role in an X-Files episode(Terms of Endearment).
Okay, so it was an incredibly cheesy episode, but anytime I get to see two of my favorite guys onscreen I’m a happy girl.
Grom has returned to this thread (in your face Max Carnage). My reference to Bruce Campbell’s role in Darkman was some sort of a joke. It was about Bruce doing voiceover work for the movie, i.e. various screams and yells. Not a funny joke but Ash is/was his best work so I thought of one of his lesser rolls.
Oh no. Max has been faced. But since you did come back to your thread, I’ll answer.
Waxworks 2 has Bruce where he does his best work…in pain. Plays a doctor/explorer of some sort in an alternate universae that Zach Galligan hops to (one of many). Bruce get’s chained to a wall while Zach fights some nasty thing. Bruce gets clawed, cut, and has salt thrown all over him, all the while he’s giving a polite “No, no. That’s ok. It doesn’t burn that bad.”
He’s only in it for maybe 5-10 minutes but it’s hilarious.
Army of Darkness is the Bruce Campbell movie of all time. It wraps up all that is holy and good in this world-and it even has Bridget Fonda in it!
Bruce Campbell is the man. I read his book and I’ve had him sign a few items. Him and Sam Raimi share a relationship like God and Jesus…Okay, that might have gone a little far…
Also, what about Bruce in Spiderman?
Women love the Bruce. It’s true.
The book is a must-read, as I stated in one of those “what are you reading” thread. I would kill for a glimpse of him wearing the “This is my BOOMSTICK” briefs.
Bruce has such a key role in Spiderman. Were it not for him, it’d be “The Human Spider.”
B.C. Jr. Love it.
Judith, I almost picked up his book the other day. I will now, on your recommendation. However, doesn’t he have two? I seem to remember “The Chin Speaks” or something, and “Confessions of B Actor.” Those are just vague approximations of the titles.
When I went to the booksigning here in Nashville, during Q&A someone stated he’d heard Bruce has a small role in the (then) upcoming Spider-Man movie. Bruce was quick to point out, “It’s not a small role…it’s a pivotal role” for the reason Judith points out above.
fizgig, the book is called If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor and it is required reading.
Just another Briscoe County fan checking in, although my second favorite would be Autolychus in Hercules.
CJ
I believe he has only written one book. The book title is: “If Chins Could Kill Confessions of a “B” Movie Actor”. I know he wrote several articles for a magazine named “Wicked”.
Here’s his official website:
