Jumpin Jesus on a pogo stick Tim McCarver is a prick.
After the fracas ended, he whined about how petty Kenny Lofton was for saying something about the pitch that almost took his head off. “It’s just baseball,” groused His Royal Timminess.
Tim. Sit down for a second, and I’ll lower this to a second-grade level just for you.
Throwing a ball over 90 miles per hour at someone’s head is not baseball. Is this clear? Throwing inside to keep him off the plate IS baseball. Intentionally trying to hurt someone IS NOT.
It’s dipshits like you who try to instill a crass, macho, it’s okay if someone gets hurt as long as it’s not me attitude into the few kids who still follow the game; no small wonder people get into fights at little league.
And now! Now I see you trying to explain Lofton by saying he’s only played in the American League - wrongo, Timbo. Or are you blocking Atlanta, since you despise them?
63 people were killed, most in one place (the Nimitz Freeway). It seems awfully unlikely that there will be another earthquake, but if there is, I might have to accept my beloved Giants are ill-omened.
7-3 Giants now. I can’t believe no one was ejected! I don’t have a TV, but I’m listening to the game via internet, and it sounded pretty nasty!
Tim McCarver is such a fucking moron. Jon Miller is one of the Giants regular broadcasters, and on some of the Sundays he does ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, Tim McCarver has been pegged to cover him.
Note to Giants Producers: Tim McCarver =! Jon Miller. The rest of the team sans Jon is BY FAR better than McCarver and anyone.
Yeah, these FOX announcers are embarrassing. Me and my friends were counting how many times we yelled “shut up” at them via the TV.
Oh, and not a single punch was thrown tonight. Baker and La Russa were yelling at each other, seperated by umpires, as were a few other pairs of opposing players, but nothing too bad. The pitch wasn’t too bad, IMO, and I think there was something going a few inings earlier, at least. I saw Lofton’s eyes burning in his first at-bat, glaring out at the mound something fierce. In the dugout, a camera caught Dunston and Lofton talking about the scuffle, and Dunston is clearly explaining that the Cards were pissed because Lofton “watched” his earlier HR. Didn’t seem anything particularly inflammatory to me, though.
Sorry for the hijack, but Philo, you and everyone else that claims that baseball is dying are morons. Attendance is down due to a recession and high ticket prices; nevertheless, interest in baseball remains quite high. If baseball was really near death, interest in whether or not there was going to be a strike/lockout would’ve been negligible. Instead, it was all over the news when a strike was averted.
Is baseball the most popular American spectator sport anymore? No, the NFL is. But baseball remains a strong no. 2, despite the morons that run it.
KneadToKnow, your time would have been better spent taking what you contributed to this thread and using it as fertilizer.
I did not offer a cite because, as Myrr21 said, it is my opinion, and I’m not attemping to support any facts about Cox nor am I attempting to convince others to have the same opinion. If others want to research into the matter, then they may.
Cox allegedly used his spouse as a punching bag was charged with battery back in '95. I get the vibe that he has been a repeat offender in form or another. I expressed that I think Cox is a cocky, wife beating shmuck, and I’d like to add that the word scumbag also comes to mind.
I can’t cite and prove that he is habitually abusive any more than I can cite and prove that he’s a shmuck or that he’s cocky.
Why did you attack my statement? You didn’t request a cite for Chief Nokahoma’s existence. You didn’t bitch at Kyla for not citing that “The Giants were at 50% the last time they played the Cards, and Barry Bonds was on the DL.” And I’m not suggesting that you should have; it’s just that you seem somewhat inconsistent.
Have a soft spot in your heart for Bobby Cox? If you state an opinion that Bobby C is a fun-loving wonderful husband, then I’m not going to gripe at you for not citing it.
It is my opinion that KneadToKnow is a whiny jerk. Need a cite? Here it is!
Did you have fun reporting my statement to the mods? Did it make you feel important?
My first post in this thread was my attempt to convey that the Braves lost and I’m happy about it. Team favoritism is a matter of taste. and I gave my reasons for not liking Atlanta.
Allow me to emphasize:
BRAVES LOST YYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!
I was also glad to see the Yankees of the National League (the Braves) get knocked out, along with the actual Yankees themselves.
Unfortunately, my beloved Tigers were nowhere near the playoffs this year, so I guess I am pulling for the Giants because I like San Francisco (because of the Grateful Dead and the whole hippie thing in general).
