It was a little odd, but I would not be sure they broke up either. Though why she puts up with this most pathetic person doesn’t make sense anyway.
Because, weirdly, she sees a lot of his creepy acts in the spirit that he intends it. As romantic.
It did leave me wondering whether it was “Howard moves back with Mom” or “Howard is now single” ending. Especially since they didn’t address it at all the next episode.
But last time they broke up, it was off screen. So I guess they are leaving their options open until they decide what the best storyline is. But I think it’s clear they know they want the actress to stick around now, whether or not she’s with Howard.
I took it as the house-sharing experiment didn’t work, rather than the relationship was over.
