The Big Bang Theory, Season 10, Episode 13 (January 19, 2017) -- " The Romance Recalibration"

I am starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.

Hey gytal2000, missed you recently.

Sadly, I wasn’t online to start the thread for the last episode.

I do find it funny that Amy and Sheldon have the healthiest relationship on the show. If you don’t count Raj and Howard.

Bro-Love is the best love.*

I haven’t watched the episode yet, just about to though. Be back in a bit.

*We really need a “hubba-hubba” type of smiley. But, oh well.

Ok, I’m going to be awesome and live Tweet the funny bits.*

Penny: Pink Wine and pizza bagels? It’s like 8th grade all over again.
“That’s the joke.”
-McBain.

*You suck McBain!

Well that was awful.

Is there a writers’ strike going on?

Congrats on spotting the one funny bit (although the open fantasy was approaching OK).

Wow, that was a total waste of an episode.

I think Penny was a bitch in this episode. She’s the one who’s taken Leonard for granted all this time. He bought her a car, tried to take her to Switzerland, and let her cry on his shoulder during her various boyfriend shenanigans. I felt so sorry for him. Sheldon’s joy at finding out he got to draw up a relationship agreement for them was excellent. (No nostalgia clause. Heh.)

I liked seeing the various scenarios of Howard trying to get to the crib. Bernie makes plenty of money and they’ve already remodeled the house. How come 1) They didn’t fix the floor during the remodel and 2) They don’t go ahead and fix it now?

I missed Stuart. He wasn’t on baby duty this week.

Yeah, I wasn’t too crazy about that, myself.
Not the greatest episode, but it did have some funny bits.

The finish on the floor looked new, but Howard said this was the same room in which he grew up. I’d expect forty-year-old wooden floors to look more worn, so perhaps part of the remodel involved sanding and refinishing the floor? But, as you said, they would probably have addressed the squeaks at the same time.

People don’t always realize how loud a squeak in the floor is - until they’re tryring to quiet a baby at 3AM…

I found the episode to be largely meh. I hardly looked up from the Free Cell game I was playing. The floor grid gag is the sort of thing I’d have expected on I Love Lucy - inane physical comedy.

I miss when the show was clever.

I have to agree with much that’s been said so far. This was the weakest episode of the season, IMO. Maybe because the plot, the old “our relationship has grown stale” has been done-to-death in sitcom’s and I’m hopeful that this show could avoid done-to-death stories.

Oh good, I’m glad I’m not the only one. It was profoundly not funny last night.

I did think the various squeaky floor solution sequences (e.g., pulleys and ropes) were amusing.

(Real solution – screws – as the squeak is usually wood rubbing against nails)

Yeah, it was good physical humor!

It was great physical humor, of which Simon Helberg is a master! His acting is so underrated.
