I’m glad they didn’t. Howard is happily married to Bernie and Raj is in a relationship with Emily. But yeah, my jaw dropped when he slammed the door in her face.

I kind of liked this ep, as much as I did some of the second-tier efforts of earlier seasons. The part where Sheldon rejects her because she missed the deadline was funny and in character. Likewise the part where Amy’s date obsessed on Sheldon - that was funny, and a dramatically plausible way to suggest them getting back together without the obviously strained “Sheldon reveals his True Feelings” the way Spock did on most of the weaker episodes on ST:TOS.

Bernadette I can take in small doses, and Leonard-Penny was low-key enough to be appropriate. B- at worst, which is reassuring, since I was considering dropping it.

Oh, yeah, sorry I misunderstood. I’m surprised they’re not following through with that. It would have intimidated the hell out of Amy, that’s for sure, but I don’t think the new girl would have put up with Sheldon’s crap for as long.

I kind of wonder about his supposed non-interest in sex. The man was a teenager at some point, going through puberty with hormones raging through. Surely he was distracted by various throughts and/or fantasies?

Don’t forget about the opening scene from the pilot episode when Leonard and Sheldon went to sell their sperm at the high IQ sperm clinic. Sheldon said he didn’t know if he could go through with it and Leonard that Sheldon was practically a “semi-pro”. That scene has been cut when the pilot is now shown in syndication.

I always assumed it was because some local stations might not want to air masturbation jokes or to retcon Sheldon’s character since he now has no interest in sex.

In SNL’s version of the I Love Lucy chocolate factory conveyor belt scene, Lucy (Gilda) was putting whipped cream and cherries on the top of nuclear warheads that were moving down the conveyor. If you can go beyond the chocolate candies, it’s easy to think of something that would be more in Sheldon’s, um, genre? Forte?

So, now a meta question for regular viewers on this Amy breaking up with Sheldon story line…

I think all who watch regularly get frustrated at times at Sheldon’s self-centeredness. Do you think that from this Reality Check/Slap in the Face that Sheldon will finally get the message that other people’s feelings can be important too? Would the show lose out if he became somewhat more adult?

I thought Sheldon was at his misogynistic worst in this episode. I didn’t enjoy it at all
