The Billion Dollar MMP

Howdy Y’all! Home from deheathenization and N.O.L. Both were good. I went all rebel at the seafood restaurant. I was not in the mood for seafood so I went with one of their alternatives. I had poke chops, turnip greens, fried okra, sweet N.O.T. casserole and cornbread. OYKW went with the butterflied fried shrimpies, fries, cheese grits, slaw, and hush puppies. We’s both stuffded bears.

OYKW has decided to achieve nappage. I do believe I shall join him.

Laterz!

Must do paper-irk. Don twanna.

Home - yay! It snowed just about the whole way - starting with teensy-flake flurries, advancing to slightly bigger flakes that required me to turn on the wipers, and by the time I got home, the sun was starting to peek thru the clouds. It’s cold, but I’m home, so yay!!

I drove thru McD’s to get a fish sammich on the way home. Partway down the road, I reached into the bag only to discover a burger and some nuggets where my filet-o-fish was supposed to be. grrrrrrr McD’s is about to get an email of displeasure from me.

Tomorrow will be laundry day, and I think I’ll get my hair cut. Other than that, who knows? I’m just glad to be back on my own turf.

Glad you made it home MOOOOOOM. If you hadn’t looked at the labels, I bet that burger and nuggets would have tasted like a MickeyD’s fish sammich and fries.

I have steaks marinatin’ and beer chillin’ cause tomorrow night is men’s night over to the church house. I made the executive decision that dindin, if desired, shall be forage da fridge and/or pantry.

North Carolina: If you don’t like the weather, wait an hour.

As predicted I won the battle of the dirty carpet. I only had to replace the water once in the whole living room. My violets are mad that I had to open the window to help the room dry out, but they’re in a permanent state of anger right now and I don’t know how to fix them. I’m thinking the striped one may have to take a rest holiday on my dad’s porch.

Now it’s time to return the movie I just watched to the Redbox. Far from the Madding Crowd–good, but it takes forever to get going.

I forgot to share this little nugget of family drama.

Thirty-plus years ago (maybe closer to 40 years) one of my mother’s brothers was attacked and beaten so badly that he’d been hospitalized ever since. After their parents died, my mom took over care of her mentally handicapped sister (who died in 2012) and her other brother (last seen at the sister’s funeral) became the point of contact for the hospitalized brother.

About a month or so ago, my mom got a call from her brother - the hospitalized brother had died, and he’d already been buried because, for whatever reason, the surviving brother didn’t think she needed to know about it. The brother died back in November. She has no idea why she wasn’t informed - what a bizarre family dynamic…

When I was a kid, I thought we were a typical, normal family, I have since discovered we’re definitely not from the Leave It To Beaver neighborhood. And I expect my mom will never hear if her remaining brother dies before she does, because his kids haven’t been in touch with anyone in our branch of the family since maybe the mid-90s. So different from my husband’s side of the family where everyone calls everyone else all the time.

It’s amazing I turned out as delightful as I am!

I swear I made a post earlier but it isn’t there so I guess it went pf or I posted in the wrong thread.
Or maybe I’m losing my mind?

Glad you made it home safely FCM

I need to call my mother back, and make meatballs for Sah-son.

First I need to send two emails to work.

I don’t work tomorrow because the library is closed, so the cafe I work in can’t open either. It’s MLK Day, a federal holicay. I’ve been spending the last week and this long weekend not only giveing the apartment a good cleaning but getting rid of…stuff. I’ve kept all kind of stuff from housewares to memorablilia, that it turns out I haven’t looked at or used in twenty years, or since I put it away. I even culled my books, by about 10 percent.

This is going to go on for a long time though. Some of the “stuff” I’m setting aside in boxes. Sometime in the spring or early summer there will be a garage sale at my mother’s house, a small sequel to the big one last year. She’s trying to clear out her stuff. It will be a chance for me and my sisters to get rid of stuff as well. I’ll put it on a table labled “make an offer” If it sells the money goes to mom, if it doesn’t it will go in the trash. In any event I’ll be rid of some “stuff”.

Now, there’s the matter of letting go of my VHS tapes…

We have a dusting which is worse than stuff measured in inches. We are in for the night.

Here the weather is, wait for it, rain, rain, and a side of rain.

I got out to the van to run an errand this afternoon and noticed the battery warning light. I decided that I didn’t really want to be stuck out in the rain with a dead car and took our commute car instead. Tomorrow’s adventures shall include battery and/or alternator replacement. And the paper irk I didn’t get to today.

We had an earthquake.
Well, Bolivar WV did, only 30 miles away.

Good thing the news told me because I didn’t feel a thing.

The snow didn’t amount to anything, it’s already all gone.

MOOOOOOM fwiw, I have outside of immediate family I wouldn’t know a thing about if not for facebook. I have a first cousin who for all anyone knows may be dead. He has had no contact with any family, includin’ his own immediate family at all. No one even really knows where he is. Sad because when his mother died, no one knew of any way to contact him. I have an uncle (mom’s younger brother) who drops in and out of the family a lot and always has. No one has seen or heard from him for the past three years. The phone number we had for him is no longer his and apparently he has deleted the email contact we had or just doesn’t respond. All I know is that if he is still among us, he’s eighty-three years old.

And to think I turned out so normal!

I decided to take a nap around 2pm, and just woke in time to go to bed.

I worked. Our los prevention guy caught 6 shoplifters this weekend ,and the boss grabbed another. Welcome to the Snowpocalypse in da Hood.

Mooommm, I hav two cousins who have been to prison. and they are Red Wings fans. Series of poor life choices, I tell ya.

Well now I know what is wrong with me - my family won’t go away. There’s a hell of a lot of them, too. I may not be able to find everybody myself but I’ll know somebody else who can.

My niece is weird. I called her the other day, or tried calling her. I gave my grand-nephew a check for Christmas and it hasn’t been cashed yet. Because this niece is a bit of a ditz I wanted to make sure she hadn’t lost the check or forgotten about it. I was going to tell her to leave at mom’s, I’d get it and leave cash for her. Anyway, my mother asked her about it, the boy’s father has it and is going to cash it for him.
So my mother is telling me she asked my niece why she didn’t answer my call and my niece told her she was afraid I was mad at her. WTF? Why would I be mad at her? Of course with my mother in the mix, my mother probably told her I was mad at her - who knows?

Oh and did I tell you the latest news? Now my mother is NOT moving into senior housing. She decided they are ripping her off and she is going to stay where she is.
There are not enough head bangs in the world to deal with her.

Has she been watching Better Call Saul?

I hope relatives don’t f-ck with me when I am old and doddering about. I can still pay for a last bottle of Scotch and carton of Camels.

The Customers Suck forum will be no more in about six weeks. Grump.

Her up and down and back and forth bullshit plucks my nerves. Two weeks ago she was in a mad rush to move, then she doesn’t like the available apartment, now she’s changed her mind and she’s not moving at all.

What she wants is for somebody to take her by the hand and tell her what to do, so she can blame them when something goes wrong.

She can find somebody else to play her damn games.
