I honestly wish they’d leave the old characters and fanservice behind. Just focus more on the new stuff with occasional references or casual pop-ins, like in the MCU. On screen, we didn’t need to see what happened to Boba Fett; I hope Luke’s story is done being told now; we really don’t need this Obi Wan series; the Solo movie should’ve been a movie focused on introducing Crimson Dawn to movie audiences, with Han Solo as a character, but not the main character.
Give me more Ahsoka, Mando, Ezra, Kanan, Sabine, Hera, Rey, Qi’ra, Guardians of the Whills, Lor San Tekka, Galen & Lyra Erso, and Saw Gerrera…even Maul. I know we’ve got some series coming up with Ahsoka, Ezra, Thrawn, Cassian Andor, etc, but I feel like we’re just wasting time revisiting these OT characters over and over, only for many of us to be disappointed. I mean, are we really going to go two freaking years without a new Mando season because they had to waste time on Boba Fett and Obi Wan?
And I say this as someone who loves Obi-Wan, and am actually looking forward to watching that series; I just don’t think we needed to have it made. I could’ve lived a happy life without knowing exactly what ol’ Ben was doing between Eps. 3 & 4.
Yeah, and… I just really don’t need to see more Tatooine. It’s not a given that Obi-Wan will be set there, but it feels kind of inevitable at this point.
You said you didn’t understand my “premise.” I told you, I’m tired of them revisiting characters from the OT. That’s my “premise.” You don’t like my premise, that’s fine. But I’m not being inconsistent in wishing they would stop diving into characters from the OT.
Imo, there’s a lot of story left in Saw as a radicalized rebel and Maul as the head of Crimson Dawn. But whatever, you think otherwise.
Let’s keep shooting at the mech thingies even though our blaster fire is completely ineffective. Keep shooting! And Boba, go get the Rancor rather than your FireSpray ship, because air support and laser cannons and sonic bombs or whatever could not possibly help.
IMO, the Star Wars universe doesn’t need any more;
Prequels about characters whose death is already onscreen canon
Movies or shows set on Tatooine (or any other desert planet for that matter)
Stories set during the Clone Wars
This is a setting with tens of thousands of years of backstory - there’s no need to keep rehashing the same 20-30 or so. I want to know if Rey succeeds in building a new Jedi order where Luke failed. Show me something set in the High Republic era, or something set in the Great Hyperspace War where space combat consists of boarding the enemy’s ship and attacking them with swords, or jump a couple years ahead and show us the next big existential threat to galactic society.
I just never want to see another stormtrooper or clone trooper on screen again.
And…? There’s a lot of characters in the distant past in the Star Wars universe that can be explored.
I personally like the Clone Wars-era stories, including characters like Saw and Qi’ra and Maul and Ahsoka, but I’m not married to them. My point was, I am just done with OT characters continuing to take up oxygen in new series and movies.
It’s time to come up with some new characters and new stories, I agree. I think the Mandalorian has done that, which is why it was refreshing. Boba Fett didn’t really work out largely because the actor was way too large for the costume now. I enjoyed Fennec Shand. That guy that spoke with his hands for the mayor was also quite entertaining. The backstory with the Tusken raiders was also good, but overall the series felt fragmented. Surely there must be some other writers with ideas out there. And I agree, they’ve kind of done Tatooine to death. With The Volume, you’d think they could go anywhere. But first they need some good ideas.
Yeah, but we didn’t see that, we were just told about it. We saw Ben Kenobi use the Jedi Mind Trick and fight Vader. We saw Yoda lift an X-Wing. We saw Luke use Force Gymnastics. We saw the Emperor use Force Lightning.
Boba Fett? I think we see him shoot a blaster maybe 4 times, and he misses most of those shots.
