Howdy Y’all! Sneakin’ in a post from the Lee County Senior Center in Da Burg. Shortly I shall head over to the center in large and in charge downtown Dawson. The weather today is… ICK!!! Rainy, windy and dreary. So natch I have a twenty mile drive on a two lane road ahead of me. On the up side I had a not too shabby lunch of veggie/beef soup, grilled cheese sammich and fruit sallit courtesy of the senior center. A good lunch to have on an icky day.
ruble you beat me to it! I was gonna muster the mumpers to go vote too! So, [url=http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=13439466&posted=1#post13439466]go here** and vote for Bearflag’s baby mumpers!
Ok, now to pack up this here laptop machine and go to Dawson.
My .02 re brats. Beer brats with peppers and onions! YUM!!!
I did not watch The Game. I did turn on the Puppy Bowl for about 5 min though. KT went to his parent’s (in Wisc) for the weekend to watch with them. I haven’t talked to him yet, but they must have enjoyed that.
As predicted, the parking situation worked out just fine, and I had a great time at the Luminary Loppet. There were 9,000 skiers signed up plus a ton of people walking around on the lake that was ringed with ice luminaries. Plus there were 6’ tall posts of ice with candles every foot or so. And a big ice pyramid. And a skiing abominable snow man and a Viking (the Scandinavian kind, not the football kind). Both fun and really beautiful.
And I skied again yesterday so I’m a little bit sore today. Plus I’m tired because our IT folks couldn’t get ahold of my team’s on-call person (for like 5 min 'cause she was in the shower) so called me after 10 last night. Which of course woke me up with a jolt so then I couldn’t get back to sleep. My manager and I had a talk with our VP this morning about getting this fixed. Manager has worked every weekend for more than two months because this stuff has been going so badly. It’s ridiculous, and it hasn’t been getting the priority that it needs. I seriously think that we need to run it on a frickin weekday, at least to have a backup. ::sigh::
Yikes on the deck, Soapy! That would have scared the crap out of me too!
Have to go back and catch up on the end of last week’s MMP. Or do work.
We’re Bears people over here, so we are not acknowledging the results of last nights game. I will, however, channel my inner MSTie and say that the Terrible Towel lacks the quiet dignity of the cheese wedge. The MST3K communities are going **nuts **and now I must see Giant Spider Invasion tonight. Must.
I went downtown to do some research on the flatironfor my sister’s thesis this morning, but the NC Collection at the library was closed. All the information I got was where it is (I already knew that) and what the signature on the sculpture was. Tomorrow I’ll go back to the library and find out some history on it.
I realized yesterday I know what I want to be when I grow up. I want to be a librarian. Now I just have to figure out how to make this happen, hopefully without running afoul of more state budget cuts or having to get a MLS. I have enough money due back to the loan people, thank you. I’ve had two people in the last week ask me for help editing and researching, so I consider that a sign.
Happy Monday! Meatloaf is in the oven, N.O.T. for smashed are on the stove, green beans, and canned gravy (hush, swampy) will be nuked closer to eatin’ time. **FCD **came home early, which is good, considering all the hours he worked last week. Daughter is on her way home. All critters are accounted for. Life is good…
… at least till BIL shows up later. If he gets this job, we’re in agreement that he can’t live here. In fact, we’re looking forward to the day when daughter goes so we get our house back again.
Didn’t watch the game - I’ll look up the commercials later. And, um, that’s all for now. C’mon Firday!!!
Well, great granddaughter Lillian arrived sometime this morning. 20" and 8 pounds 11 ounces. She’s a little porker, but cute! We took a vote and decided to keep her.
Spaz, there is indeed something seriously wrong with that ad, and I say that as someone who has owned and operated firearms for over 40 years.
Basically we all get invited to the annual shareholder’s meeting held in Lambeau field once a year.
I think my kids have tried to use their owner status to get them some free drinks before, but usually that backfires, with the others demanding that the girls buy them some drinks, what with owning an NFL team and all…
Congrats, great-grand-Bumba!! That’s a big babeh! We expect to see pics soon!
Meatloaf and sides were yum. We’s stuffded. **FCD **needs to leave in 2 hours to fetch his bro. I need to make up the guest room and print out directions for him.
I should change my bedsheets - I should have done it this weekend, but I didn’t.
Wow, QtM posting in our lowly MMP? I’m in awe. Ownership of the Packers is one of the few facts I know about the team. I’d be more inclined to watch the Superbowl if more teams were set up like that.
:eek::eek::eek::eek: about your deck, Soapy.
Yay for the new baby, Bumba!
I’ve had my din-din: doctored up Progresso lentil soup (I added smoked sausage, leeks, extra onion and garlic, and a few drops of Tabasco) over whole-wheat spaghetti. It was yummy. I really need to make some German lentil soup and spätzle. It’s a perfect winter meal.
Guess I’ll knit for a bit now and then get stuff organized for valentines.
Canned gravy?!?! I must take to my bed with valium and cool compresses!
Congrats great grampaw Bumba!
I irked. Then we met up at the good Eyetalian place for dindin. I had me an Eyetalian margarita. I’m not sure what makes it Eyetalian as it tastes like a regular ol’ margarita, but I had me one. OYKW had a belini (or however it’s spelled), some kind of concoction involvin’ champagne and stuff. 'Twas a fun time. Now I’s home all warm and dry.
For sooth, have I not seen the cloud rise up over the city of Sheboygan in bratwurst days past? Have I not doused the flames of the grill as they burst skyward, using either pure artesian water or Kingsbury beer? Did my father not grow up in a former cheese factory converted into a family home? (And you thought your grandparents’ home smelled funny…)
(Got my own copy – one of the best episodes ever. Along with The Undead. And Jack Frost. And the time traveling small aircraft and “Dr Demento - patriot”. OK – almost all the episodes of MST3K are great. It just works like that.
Thanks for the answer! Something clicked in my brain and I was just flat-out curious. I figured if you (collectively any of the owners) wanted to pony up the cost, why not? It isn’t like every front office body isn’t going to be putting in for one.

Two of my coworkers are having a lovers’ spat in the next room. I wish they’d get to the hairpulling already, all this “apologizing in an accusatory way” is making my trigger finger itch and I’m not even a guns kind of person.
Please God, if I ever do to a guy what these two women are doing to each other, smite me.
Good morning all, up and caffeinating. Thanks for the answer about the Packers, and woo hoo for QtM showing up to confirm! Thanks!! Good thoughts going out to the StickyBuns grands and sorry about the deck, Soapy; hope that insurance will pay for a nice replacement! Oh yeah, and congrats to Great Grand Bumba! Pics please.
Whew, I was wiped out last night! I fell asleep at 8:30 pm, without even checking my email again. LOL Now I’m angling for an actual ride to work instead of taking public transit. Wish me luck! And two down, three to go (after today), have a good Tuesday all.
