I’m reasonably sure you cannot reforge either to or from resilience (for exactly the reason you point out - converting PvP gear to PvE gear, or vice versa).
Thanks Yeti. Those are the ones I saw on the AH. The bracers probably sell for less than the mats would, but I’ll check it out when I’m online tomorrow night. Even with the +resil, they are still a significant upgrade until I get a better drop from heroics.
You start getting Therazane rep about 70 quests into Deepholm. The chain starts when you’re asked to go read some announcement to one of the big rock elementals that pats around (the kind with legs and arms).
Hit isn’t a stat to be too concerned about for tanks. IIRC if you’re having threat problems, Expertise should be your first priority (definitely true for Warriors, probably also for other classes). The only real concern is if your raid is at least partially counting on you for interrupts.
That’s correct. It’s a stupid and inconsistent restriction, IMO, but what’cha gonna do.
I looked for a Holy Pally gear guide that wasn’t blocked from work and actually found one. According to Holy Paladin 346 Gear Guide | Paragon, the bracers I want are to be found in either Grim Batol or Deadmines. Figures; I hate both of those instances. The other option they list is the Bloodthirsty Gladiator PvP bracers but I’m not going to grind that Honor on my pally, especially since he doesn’t have any PvP gear to start with. I think I’ll go with the Ornate Pyrium until I can get the ones in GB or DM.
I’ve got the bars…don’t get those…but I’m short on the volatile waters.
Oh fishing trip! I will go get you some. (Still working on maxing my fishing, always forget the daily.)
kjckjc is welcome to go fishing, but I’ve got 20 volatile waters in Kene’s bags. I can send them to you tomorrow since I probably won’t be online tonight.
Now that I can see this, it’s not a huge upgrade from my pally’s shield but it’s a great upgrade for Kene. If I get you the mats, are you able to make a Tattooed Eyeball?
Oh…I LOVE your doper title!
It was a couple of years or so ago that I first ventured into Azeroth, a pure and utter noob needing lots (and lots!) of advice and guidance. I never would have survived leveling to 80 without the patient assistance of my fellow guildies and other 'Doper wowheads.
It took a while, but eventually I lost the newb char smell, and learned to play well enough that, little by little, people stopped calling me huntard (for causing another wipe) and started calling me bastard (for topping the dps charts once again). My crowning moment came when Valorous, desperate for a hunter who could handle the LK mechanics, asked me to join them and we kicked Arthas’ butt on my second try ever, for the first LK kill Horde-side on Cairne.
I also became an achievement whore, earning Loremaster, Exalted, It’s Over 9000!, and the Insane title (before they made it easy). A lot of it was pretty grindy, but a lot of it was fun. I really enjoyed racking up those achievement points.
Lately, though, I’ve been growing away from WoW, and since Cata dropped, I just haven’t been feeling it. Keeping my character geared and stocked started feeling more and more like a hideous chore. I decided to hang in there until I finished the meta achievement for the world events. I completed that last achievement tonight, and I’m happy to be done with the game.
tl;dr: Thank you, and good-bye, Burning Dog Legion!
Oh, and, yes, you can have my stuff. I don’t have any toons in the BDL at this time, so just let me know here who wants to be in charge of handling my junk, and I’ll log in and mail tons of gold and mats to ya.
sniff it’s sad to see people retiring (first Tom, then Orr – even if you’re not in our guild).
I was thinking about it yesterday and getting a little depressed that we’re so far from being able to raid again. But I doubt I’d be able to find a guild on Cairne that wants someone who can only raid one night a week, so I’ll just have to be patient.
Yeti, I sent you the volatile waters last night. Then since I had a few minutes I went fishing and replenished my stock – almost to 525 fishing now on Kene.
Sure. Send em tonight and I’ll be sure and get on tonight or tomorrow night and make it. (Don’t bother with the volatile life though; I ended up buying a 200-pack which I’m not far through yet.)
Any other BDLers doing the Love Achievement? I’m doing it on my druid, but withga week left, I’m down to some of the harder ones. (bouquet, pity, alliance-race/class combos, lonely, +one chocolate) I threw some unused chocolate in the gbank in case, like me, you get screwed out of one flavor from your box (I’m missing very berry). If anyone wants to share love fools/picnic baskets, we can save some tokens.
But anyway, I’ll be tanking regular dungeons for lovely charms (and the short queue) so hop on if you want this week.
I wouldn’t do Arenas or Rated BGs without PvP gear, but I see nothing wrong with going into regular Battlegrounds or Tol Barad in PvE gear.
Yay for your Long, Strange Trip, boo for leaving. (And just when you finally got your 310% speed mount!) Remember: Your characters will never be deleted. If you find yourself getting a hankering to play again, you can always come back.
I just don’t like being stun-locked and dead every 30 seconds :). Although with the holiday achievements going on there are probably a lot more PvEers in the BGs than usual. It’s moot though since Yeti is going to craft some bracers for me.
FWIW, that hasn’t been my experience at all, playing both on my main at 70, 80, and 85 (Prot Warrior) and on my DK while leveling from about 60 to 80 (Frost). Obviously YMMV, but if you’re speaking from assumptions rather than personal experience, you may wish to reconsider trying it out.
I may have been using hyperbole a bit, but I’ve done quite a bit of PvP on my priest (mostly at 80, but some earlier) and that was my experience in PvE cloth gear, especially in smaller BGs like Warsong. It got better as my gear (and skill) improved and I was enjoying it, although I haven’t PvPed since Cata dropped. So I’m not completely opposed to PvP but in my experience, I’ll enjoy it more when I get a chance to get some starter +resilience gear. Once I’ve purchased all the JP upgrades available to me (which is getting close), I’ll start investing in PvP gear most likely.
With 100k health pools, you last a little bit longer. Just a little bit, mind you
PvP in different classes–especially ones that wear different types of armor–is a very different experience. If you haven’t PvP’d on the Paladin at all, you might want to give it a try–you may be pleasantly surprised.
Yes, many, MANY thanks for the upgrade. A major improvement over the relic I already had slotted in there.
