Judgement causes a bleed? For all specs? Huh. Call me pally-fail.
Just to be clear, I’m only talking about on that fight. Spike shield on the boss causes a bleed effect on any player that melees the boss. This bleed will break the paralyze. For this mechanic, a Judgement counts as a melee attack (meaning it causes the bleed due to the spike shield).
At least that’s how I understand it.
Ah, I gotcha. I thought you were saying that Judgement put a DoT on the boss that would reflect back, but there’s only a DoT if you’re using Seal of Truth (which a holy pally would not be using). But I get it now, the Judgement causes you to take damage from the spikes b/c it’s a melee attack even at range.
Panzera, Moobird, Yeti, Kalathan and Keyne tackled H-BRC last night (if you’re keeping score, that’s two druids and three pallies). Not the smoothest run, but not terrible either. I think we wiped once or twice on each boss until the end (we saved Beauty for last, but it was kinda half-hearted). Panzera did most of the tanking while Moobird off-tanked the adds for the final boss, kiting them around (the only boss we one-shotted).
Corn and Makig showed up just a bit too late to get in the run, but the fact that we had seven folks ready to go is encouraging – maybe we’re getting close to being able to put together a 10-man raid. crosses fingers
It was a lot of fun running as a full guild run. But if I had known Panzera was going to tank, I would’ve brought RB for a completely different buff Actually I’ll try to get Moobird a bit higher up so he does better in heroics. That should let Panzera dps.
In an additional guild run, Yeti, Makig, Panzera and Moobird ran regular-BRC just after the heroic run. We picked up a pretty useless Shammy healer (only one piece of >278 gear) But we went through that instance like a hot knife through butter. Corla went down in like 20 seconds.
I think for the first run, I had the wrong rotation. So maybe with some new gear and some enchants I’ll be up to speed to run heroics.
As for getting 10, how many do we need to get guild-credit in a raid? And how hard is Baradin Hold right now? (lots of mechanics, or just gear checks?)
Baradin Hold has four mechanics: stack in two groups, tank swap, dispell, and avoid fire. That is all.
It is a pretty soft gear check. I believe you need average DPS of ~10k on 10-man.
It makes me feel valuable when PUG healers are useless :).
I think you need 7 for it to be a guild raid, but I’m not completely positive. ETA: okay apparently 8 according to Jas09.
As far as a raid group, the question is how are we tank-and-heals wise without Muzungu tanking. Moobird and Panzera could tank, but Panz=Rahuul right? Without Rahuul the only other healers I can think of who are usually around are possibly Jarryn or Kahmu, neither of whom have been around much. Without them I think we need another tank or another healer.
Here’s what I think we have:
Tanks: Moobird, [Panzera]
Heals: Keyne, [Rahuul], [Kahmu?], [Jarryn?]
DPS: Makig, Cornballa, Yeticalya, Kalathan
The good news is, that’s seven who were around last night and potentially nine if we had had Kahmu and Jarryn.
Also, after seeing Jas09’s note - I’m not sure all our DPS are putting out 10k.
Well, remember that’s 10k with 10-man buffs on what for DPS is pretty much a stand still and pew pew fight.
It should be pretty easy to PuG out your extra spots.
Much thanks to Yeti, Panzera, and 'bird for the regular-BRC run; the window to finish up the holiday achievements was narrowing pretty significantly.
I do think we’re getting quite close to being raid ready, particularly early bosses. A wowhead thread seemed to come to the consensus that iLvl ~340 is a good starting place. Browsing the armory, it looks like most of us are there (Makig is just barely).
That was my first time tanking since Wrath, at that, and both times we wiped on Karsh were my fault (I didn’t start dragging him through the fire beam soon enough because I don’t have my focus frame setup to show boss buffs which led to the buff falling off). I have some things I need to work on if I’m gonna tank (Trash pulls…seriously, I’m thrashing/swiping/glyphed mauling, and tab-swap lacerating and I’m STILL losing aggro).
And actually, despite what I just said, Karsh didn’t seem as bad as most other tanks I’ve run with makes him out to be (he was the one I was most afraid of). When I payed attention to his buff, I easily only added one or two stacks at a time, which I think Keyne probably had no issues keeping up with (he can correct me if I’m wrong). When I run it as heals, it seems like other tanks are getting up to 15 stacks in just 2 or 3 dunks.
Yeah, I’m glad it was a full guild run. Tanking makes me nervous. I almost suggested having you switch to Rottingbird after we did our switch last night, but I wasn’t sure if you wanted to tank again or not.
Amen to that.
Panzera is Rahuul, yes, and I much prefer healing to tanking, so I’ll usually go that route unless we have no other choice.
I thought you preferred healing, so ideally we’d come up with another tank (or even two so Bird can get is mage on).
Well I’ve been seeing a new DK leveling pretty fast. I think I remember him or her from the WoW-thread (Athani?) But still, Moo is good to tank…once he can prove he’s not a fail-tank
The sky turned red…something impending…something apocalyptic…is coming.
Woot! I’m Dead!! Double WOOT!!
I’m Standing in Fire!
Twighlight Highlands…about 5 minutes ago.
Wow! My herbalism leveling has taken me to Cata zones now, where I can’t stand next to mobs without aggroing them anymore. So just for fun I swapped to my Ret spec and equipped the 3 or 4 pieces of ret gear I’ve gleaned from dungeons and heroics, ungemmed and unenchanted. I have no Ret glyphs that I can recall. Yet suddenly instead of it taking 10-15 seconds to kill a level 80 mob it was taking me 3 seconds. I guess just the slightest bit of work on my dps spec and gear will make grinding rep a whole lot easier. Pretty obvious in hindsight, but last time I tried the spec (around level 83) it wasn’t really working for me. But that was all holy gear at the time.
That’s why I love beating the crap out of your typical mobs in 2 or 3 swings!
Always gem for +40 Strength unless the socket bonus matches or surpasses the loss of Strength from a hybrid gem (very rare occasion). Don’t even gem for hit or expertise, instead reforge for those.
Just get your hit to 8% (961 points) and your Expertise to 16 (481 points), and get the glyph of Seal of Truth for the other 10 Expertise to cap it. Reforge any haste towards your hit (to cap), expertise (to cap) and then any left over haste should go to mastery (mastery is now slightly ahead of crit). Haste is now our worst stat.
Talent points and Glyphs: Yeticalayla’s Talent and Glyphs
Definitely get those 3 prime Glyphs: Seal of Truth, Exorcism and Templar’s Verdict
For good mana control, the 3 majors should be Rebuke, Hammer of Wrath and Ascetic Crusader.
My talent points are geared for damage, damage and more damage.
You should have no problems farming for anything from here on out.
Also, only use Exorcism when procced as an instant (and free from mana usage), otherwise Crusader Strike, Judgement, (Hammer of Wrath when lit, Templer’s Verdict at 3HP), Exorcism when procced. This is not the heirarchy, just the most common buttons you’re gonna be mashing on a FCFS basis.
Agreed, Exorcism takes way to long to cast unless the insta-cast has proccd.
Oh, and throw in a Holy Wrath too if Crusader Strike and Judgement are on cooldown AND HoW not lit, TV not at 3HP, and exorcism not proccd.
Don’t make it too complicated, I’m just here for the Cinderbloom.
