The Burning Dog Crater -- Raidlist and other fun things for Cataclysm

Just FYI, but i’m out for tonight. Sadly, caught the dreaded flu, and I just don’t have the mental fortitude for a heroic tonight.

Got in a couple good runs tonight. Started with H:Tol’vir which had us wipe a couple times on trash, and a couple on bosses, but for the most part went well. Some of us got a couple upgrades and we figured out how to use our Banner of Cooperation. Still haven’t figured out if it’s better to use on a large trash set or on a boss. With a boss, since it only has a 2min use, you have to throw it up during the fight, which is easy for a ranged like me. It might be harder for a tank or healer.
Then we lost Makig, and gained Yeti and entered Throne of Tides. Still only a couple wipes but good stuff throughout. Reinsgaard finally got the tanking trinket he was hoping for. I really like ToT as a mage. I really like all the spells I can steal. Bubble, Enrage, and the heal during the Erunak boss fight.

If Jay hadn’t been out with the flu, we would have had eight people (inluding Reinsgaard) ready to play last night: Keyne, Bird, Reins, Kalathan, Yeti, Cornballah, Makig, and Rahuul. We had talked about doing BH, but Reins was already saved and without him we did not have a tank.

We’re thisclose to being able to get a 10-man going again, but we’re going to need one (preferably two) tanks, and I think right now we just have Moobird. Bird probably would be nervous about using MB to main tank a raid at this point, but he’s getting close I think.

I haven’t read up on BH, does it take more than one tank?

ETA: No, apparently you need two, switching off.

With the guild’s five billion gold pieces you could probably afford to buy Moobird some gearz on the AH.

Aha! Good thinking Tom. I would vote to approve that expediture.

I’ve got a new alt parked in Org if whoever’s in charge decides to use me as a bank cleaner. Would have picked up a ginvite, but my computer was feeling crash-happy, so I just said “fuck it” and went to read for the rest of the night.

Unless you want to PUG tanks (which I recommend against), you *will *need two tanks, and at least one of them should have a DPS offspec so they can be useful on the one-tank fights.

I just need enough to start farming heroics as tank. Currently I’m absent head enchant, shoulder enchant (even mini one). So I’ve been running Cata content for rep. Even done a bunch of Deepholm and still no Therazane rep. But the Earthen ring is appreciated since it leads to the head-chant.
I’d feel more comfortable with some rep gear including my head enchant and mini-shoulder. But there’s a couple craftables and world drops that would be good for me. I’ll try and grab folks online for a run here and there. (even having one guildie will help prevent getting booted – not being bad will do better:) )

Bird, while you’re grinding rep you could go back and get the Wrath head/shoulder enchants. They’re not optimal but better than nothing while you grind.

It’s awful tempting to offer to rejoin the BDL as a tank. I still have to think on it though. I’m pretty well decided on coming back to WoW (redownloaded the core data last night), but I’m not sure I want to do the whole ‘kill yourself becoming raidworthy’ thing.

Bosstone, if you come back, you can be in BDL without having to tank or raid with us. No pressure. It’s just fun to have Dopers in guild chat.

Oh I know. I’m just trying to work out for myself how much effort I want to put back in the game. Although naturally I’ll be spending time leveling. Just need to figure out if I want to push my druid and mage 80s to 85, or start that goblin shaman, or work on the Tauren paladin…

As much fun as I have raiding, there’s still a part of me that regrets not having the ability to do what I want to do right at that second (like level Archaeology or play my alts). If I’m having that problem, when I’m much more into raiding than you are, my advice would be to hold off on making any raiding commitments until you’ve been playing Cata for at least a few weeks.

Yeah, that was the big thing that burned me out so quickly. Having scheduled play sessions rankles hard on me, because my mood isn’t guaranteed to be the same day to day. There’s days when I’m totally ready to commit 3 hours to raiding, then there’s days when I really just want to get some mining done (and Archaeology is one of the big reasons I really want to play again). I find that my moods rarely line up with scheduled play. :smack: Granted, I bet I’m not the only one who feels that way.

Sounds like your best bet is to just PUG whenever the mood strikes you, then. Go have fun with what you want to have fun with and don’t force yourself to get to 85 and raid-ready. I think you’re really going to enjoy Cata a lot; I have.

Knowing that, I’m going to buy that Banner as well and we can do a rotation based on the number of banners that are in the group.

Chatted a bit last night with Shin Kell and I want to respect her concerns that some changes that I was proposing might change the makeup of this guild from casual to something more systematic which might turn off some of the Dopers and more casual players. I definitely don’t want to do that, and I don’t want to be tempted to do so, so I am going to give one of her toons the GL title back and let her decide who is going to be running the vault. The guild has been around longer than I have been playing and I don’t want to mess up what we currently have nor do I want to alienate anyone currently in our guild…I just want to run with the Burnt Dogs!

Heh: post #5000! Does that make me Friendly yet?

Do you mean the changes to guild ranks? If we want to keep them the same that’s fine.

By the way, the guild vault looks good (although some tabs are still a bit crowded). I’ll probably be borrowing some of the enchanting mats to get Kene from 520 to 525, but I’ll put the scrolls back in so the chants are there for whoever needs them.

Yeah, pretty sure that’s all I want to do for now. I looked at some gear lists for raiding and my head just about exploded. I think I just want to look at some pretty landscapes and goof off without worrying about gear and boss strategies for now. I finally got a DX11 card, so I can’t wait to see the graphical updates too.

The only concern I raised is that whoever is higher up in rank with more access to mats and gold should definitely have an authenticator so if one of our guildmates get hacked (and we do have a lot more toons in the guild than even a year ago), that we keep our exposure down to a minimum. Shin Kell understood my concern as well. I don’t want to be seen as someone who is holding Rasz’ gold hostage, but I do have concerns about keeping it safe from hackers. A few of us do have authenticators (including myself) and would feel better that whoever has those higher ranks had authenticators so nothing catastrophic would happen.

I like the idea of selling the glyphs and also duplicates of some cut gems that I have on Jcyeti.

My pleasure!

I’m kinda getting a kick out of the fact that it’s taking some effort to organize and divvy up my stuff.

Maybe Yeti should get something like a 10% management fee or something.
