I’m totally on board with this.
Just several days of discussion and about 3 more bank tabs, that’s all 
I’m pretty sure that’s at least Revered, until the mods catch you talking about it, at which point it kicks you back down to Hated. 
My $0.02 as someone who’s only minimally involved with the guild:
1.) Authenticators are the closest thing to a guarantee that someone will never be hacked. (Poor browsing habits can still potentially hijack an account with an Authenticator temporarily, which would allow the person to remove money or items from the gbank, but the chances of that are very small.)
2.) Setting up an Authenticator-requiring rank is a pain in the ass. You can’t convert an existing rank, which means creating a new rank at the bottom, moving everybody down a rung, and then moving everybody who you want at the A-req rank up to it. (While, obviously, also copying all of the rank settings to the new lower rung that’s now its equivalent.) Chalk it up to the terrible, terrible guild UI design on Blizz’s part. (If they’ve added the ability to insert ranks in the middle, that would make this moot–but I don’t remember hearing about that.)
3.) IME, the only people who get hacked could have avoided it. They bought gold or powerleveling services, followed a phishing link in a whisper or an email, shared their login information with someone untrustworthy, didn’t maintain up-to-date software (including applications like Acrobat and their antivirus software), etc. Giving a person who knows how to avoid being hacked access will never, IME, come back to bite you in the ass.
4.) However, there is no way to distinguish between someone who truly qualifies under #3 other than their own say-so, and I’ve known people who’ve been hacked repeatedly while claiming that they have safe browsing habits (until you actually sit down and talk details with them and realize that there were multiple holes they were simply unaware of). The beauty of an Authenticator is that it’s objective proof of the account’s security.
5.) That said, I don’t think you need to have a large number of people at the level of access where an Authenticator would be an important hedge against a hacked account clearing you out. Average members could have a small number of withdrawals from certain tabs, and a limited amount of gold available, preferably **only **as guild repairs (I can’t remember if you can set it that way–I think so). High-value items could be kept in tabs that only officers can withdraw from (requiring Authenticators for that rank), and cash withdrawal could also be restricted in the same way.
Actually, when I was checking out the guild tab as a GL, I do believe that you could create another level and then push it up from the bottom rank to the desired rank, and then populate it. I did not try it though, but it looked like I could do what you thought it couldn’t.
It would be *awesome *if they fixed that. It sure would take a huge chunk of hassle out of creating guild ranks.
I saw that Bird sent out invites for a guild run tonight - how many people are confirmed?
If we don’t have enought for a 10-man (most likely case), maybe we can split into two 3- or 4-member groups with a few pugs so we can at least get credit for two guild runs, and no one will get left out.
As of this morning, there were 4 Confirmed and 2 Tentatives. (Corn, Kala, Keyne, Yeti. then Reins and Me) Since Reins is our tank, he should get in if he shows. I’m the other Tentative so I can try if he doesn’t, but it’s pretty safe to say that Moobird shouldn’t be getting in to Heroic’s just yet.
If we end up with six people I can sit out and focus on getting my Archeology leveled.
I’ll try to be around tonight, but I don’t actually get off work til 9pm EST, so probably will be on, at earliest at 10pm. If necessary i’ll also sit out this week. I haven’t honestly played at all in 2 weeks, cause i’m kind of burned out right now. But if you need me, i’ll try to be there.
We saw you pop on, but had decided to run a regular with me tanking to see if I couldn’t get some UGs (or at least some JPs with which to buy some gear) It seems like even in a regular (with 2 dps doing heroic-type damage) I’m still losing aggro a lot.
As it stands I need to improve my hit, dodge, and stamina… so only 3 of my biggest stats. 
Afterward, Yeti, Corn and I ran a heroic with 2 guildies from another server (their queue time must’ve been shorter than ours:) ) The tank moved incredibly fast. We were in H:HoO and he often pulled the entire room of troggs and then pull the elemental. The worst was when we lost Yeti early on, then Corn and the tank went down. It was just me and the OOM healer, (you know those times when you’re praying for a Hot Streak Proc?) who got him down. It was the last elemental and I had to kite the new trogg group around until the boss could knock them down. (I was expecting his stomp to kill me too but it didn’t) Still it was a super fast run with them. Can’t complain too much about that.
I’m also able to make some BS items with chaos orbs now. I had 7 total last night and was able to make Bird an elementium spellblade using 3 of those orbs. I really don’t have a need for them at the moment (maybe except for the Elementium Deathplate), but I would rather make these blacksmith items for guildies that give them the greatest boost in stats. As long as I can keep winning need rolls in heroics on orbs and you bring the other mats needed, we can make some kickass stuff.
Speking of kickass, I did break down and bought Darkmoon Card: Hurricane so I don’t have to keep remembering to use the damn trinket. Yeah, 12.5k was the cheapest price, but the best I’ve seen in the month I was looking at them. I remember during Wrath spending 4500g for the Darkmoon Card: Greatness, and I used it for quite a long time until the very end when other trinkets from our 10 man raids were comparable, so that’s why I pulled the trigger. Now I am nearly broke, but happy.
Greatness stayed relevant way past its tier (ilvl200). Hopefully the current cards will do the same–and even if not, we’re not getting a new raid until at least 4.2.
Bought one of those myself (card by card, however - that made it more like 8k total).
It looked like for the Ret Pally in our raid the proc was doing something like 1-2% of his damage. Certainly seems likely to stay strong for awhile.
Just FYI: Last night I took some gems and herbs from the guild bank. I wanted to do 5-6 gem transmutes to finally get Kalathan’s Alchemy skill to 525. I put the transmuted gems into the guild bank when I was finished.
Yeti, I’m going to be coming to you in the next few days to craft the epic 359 caster shield for me - Elementium Stormshield maybe? I can’t look up the name right now. I just need to gather/xmute/buy all the volatiles needed.
Ok you’re next in line then…just uses one orb, which I would have 3 left for anyone else.
I tried to queue last night into a heroic, but the damn #132 error has been popping up again mid-game (5 times last night!). Running MSE and Malwarebytes to see if that helps. On preview, MSE did find a Java exploit…not sure if that will change anything though.
If the orbs ever become tradeable in a future patch, I’ll pay you back. I have one in my bags from when I had leatherworking, and now that I have alchemy I have no way to use it.
Yeti, I’m sure you’ve mentioned, but have you considered wiping your OS and rebuilding everything?
Well, after I ran Malwarebytes and MSE, deleted my WTF and Cache files, repaired…I got back on the third attempt. So, I really don’t want to wipe and rebuild at this moment.
I am so tempted to server change to Cairne to raid with y’all. I have been playing my huntard for about a year but have recently found it difficult to find a guild I mesh with. I have been mostly lurking here for years, but really enjoy reading posts by most of the people in this thread. In fact, if I disclosed my huntard’s name it would be pretty clear I swiped it from a Doper who I find myself wanting to “+1” in almost every thread I encounter her in.
Do it Cherrie! Although be forwarned we’re not quite ready to raid unless your huntard is a surprisingly good tank :).
