The Burning Dog Crater -- Raidlist and other fun things for Cataclysm

Yeah, I’ll have to do some of the Children’s Week events on Kene, I think he has 5/6 of the pets so he needs the last one (unless they’ve made any changes to the rewards this year).

I’ll be on too - and I’ve not had any luck even getting past the first boss in the new dungeons. Kal needs Valor tokens to upgrade her gear, darn it!

Two new Children’s Week pets this year – a snail (named Scooter, I think) for the old world orphan (quests have changed as well) and a mini leggy-insect-strider (like you find in Zangarmarsh) for the TBC orphan (named Legs).

The achievement Veteran Nanny is the same, however, so you only need the original 3 TBC pets to get it.

That kind of stinks, because I couldn’t do the TBC quests the first year I was playing WoW, so now I have all three old world pets but (IIRC) only two of the three TBC pets. I could get one of each this year and still be one pet short!

Luckily, unless they’ve made major changes, the quests don’t take that long. It’s a lot of traveling but old world flying and the Cataclysm zone portals make it a little easier to get around.

Yeah, it doesn’t take long at all with old world flying. Also can get whatever Northrend pet you didn’t get last year.

I never got a Northrend pet because the quest was bugged last year for most of the event.

Guild achievement for Zul’Aman last night. Moobird tanking, me (Keyne) healing, with Kal & Yeti bringing the ret and SK on his hunter which was a big help. Good run, with a couple of wipes but I don’t think any boss took more than two tries even with us being melee-heavy. We got some useful drops which was nice. We did a lot better than most of the PUGs I’ve been in, that’s for sure.

Well finishing puts us ahead of every PuG I’ve been in. And getting a new helm was nice. A few more of these and we’ll have some nice gear rolling! How long did that take us? I shudder to think.
There’s also the timed event to think about. I definitely think we can get the first couple bosses down within the time limit and save 2 of the hostages. If not in a single run, then in multiple runs. At least that’ll help us finish the quest.

It took about 90 minutes, which is not outrageous for a new and fairly long instance. I was in longer Heroic Deadmines runs when that was new.

I agree, knowing what we do now and with better gear it will go faster for sure.

Yes, it was about 90-100 minutes; maybe a little longer. We actually started before the top of the hour (10:00 pm my time). I remember glancing at my clock at one point, and it was only 10:40 or so…then next time I looked it was 11:30. Fortunately we wrapped up soon after that. Agreed, not bad for what was a new (for some of us), large, and rambling instance.

I had a great time; got a nice pair of DPS plate pants, as well as a couple of items that’ll go into my tanking set (Maybe someday I’ll get the courage to tank something for real).

Still think it’s funny that we had more trouble with the ‘trash’ than with the bosses.

Had a blast last night because the only other time I was in Zul’Aman, it was a revolving door of PUGs that ended up being 12 or 13 players total…and one of them was an insufferable blowhard telling everyone how bad they were at what they were doing…He actually didn’t say anything to me because I never confronted him about his issues…I said that I just wanted to get through the instance as quickly and efficiently as possible, and then followed it with a cornball joke. I think that took at least 2 hours to finish and I was grouped about 1/3 of the way through it! Thank God for BDL!

Hate to be a drone about this…we need more Carnelians for the Inferno Rubies.

They go fast, don’t they? Keyne can collect more Heartblossom to make the rubies (I’ll have to see if there are some in the vault I can use) but I don’t have any Carnelians. The good news is my shammy is >450 mining and has started mining in Hyjal, so I should start getting some carnelians, right? The bad news is he’s only 76 so mining in Hyjal very dangerous!

Yeah, I noticed you’ve really leveled up your shammy quickly…I haven’t been on my mining alt because I like to keep chasing that epic Troll Sword, dig by dig.

I’m a major consumer of those tasty Inferno Rubies  What’s the best ore to prospect for Carnelians? Should I drop stacks in the gbank, or mail directly to Yeti?

Put Carnelians in the gbank; then myself or one of our other alchemists can turn them into Rubies which Yeti can then cut into the gems we need.

So now that I’m getting back into the swing of things, a couple things:

  1. Who in the guild can invite? Legionnaires and above? I ask because I’ve been playing alts a few times and wasn’t sure who could invite so I didn’t whisper anyone.

  2. If any Blacksmiths have spare chaos orbs, tell me, once I get the mats (hardened Elementium is easy, truegold not so much given the lack of Volatile Lifes) I’m looking for an Elementium Deathplate (3 orbs) and/or Elementium Girdle of Pain (2 orbs).

Skammer, Bird, Shin Kell, Yeti and probably a few others…

I’m sitting on 7 orbs at the moment…pledge your loyalty to the guild and promise to kick ass on Monday nights, and they are yours for me to BS your pieces.

Ack…got talked into going into another meeting tonight; won’t be back until 10pm PDT. Sorry I won’t be on for our 5 (or 10!) man tonight.

I’ll either be on tonight or be on an hour late, depending on my ability to track time zones, since I have a review session tonight.

Unfortunately, I apparently got an upgrade that lowered my average iLevel to 1 below what’s needed for heroics >.<, so I probably won’t be able to participate either way.

I hate Sod’s Law so much. Was ready to get on and… my Game Design group calls a last-minute programming marathon. So one more week before I can do raid nights. le sigh
