The Burning Dog Crater -- Raidlist and other fun things for Cataclysm

Sorry guys, but that kung-fu-panda-targeting-a-demographic-of-12-year-olds thing has kind of shot my urge to play in one fell swoop. I haven’t ended my subscription yet in case the feeling passes, but the last few times I’ve logged in I’ve just logged right back out, with an odd feeling of ‘this is work not play’.
Just bought Battlefield 3 and intend to get in on Star Wars when it comes out. I might jump on for raid night, but don’t wait around for me.

Don’t forget next Monday is Halloween in case anyone has made plans or has to go trick-or-treating or anything like that. I, for one, will be absent.

As much as I hate to say it out loud, I think we’re at a point where we have to admit an all BDL raid just isn’t going to happen. I am absolutely OK with getting some help from Bird’s and/or Jas & Shin’s guilds. If anything, it will stop us from sitting around and blowing up Guild Chat with “Well, what are we going to do?” on Monday nights.

Yes, I (Makig) will be out next Monday due to festivities.

Let me second CreaseMunky’s suggestion. It seems we’re consistently 1-2 bodies shy of putting together a guild raid. If there’s enough interest from another guild to team up for an alt + BDL run on an appropriate day of the week, I think that would be a great way to see a bit of raid content in our traditional no-pressure style.

I agree.

(I have kids trick-or-treating Monday but we’ll most likely be done with the kids in bed by 9pm. After all it’s a school night).

Here in the PST…7pm will be pretty busy for us too…one of us will be walking the boys around, the other will be passing out the treats…(hopefully me…nom nom nom)

Also, I try to periodically hop in over the weekend or a little bit on Monday night to see about chain-running the Headless Horseman Raid for the guild XP and gold and also to do 2v2 or 3v3 for Conquest points (looking at you Skammer and Bird).

I’ll be on tonight, for sure – Friday is usually the one night of the week I can play pretty late.

Well, been running the Headless Horseman Heroic every day, and (sadly) the reins for his mount haven’t dropped for my paladin main. However, the Headless Horseman’s Helm did drop for her today. It’s a minor upgrade for her DPS spec, but it is an upgrade. But more importantly, it’s a vast improvement appearance-wise from the helm she was wearing – that helm from one of the Troll heroics that makes your toon look like you’re wearing a demonic fish on your head. I had to keep turning the helm display off because it looked so idiotic…

Plus the maniacal laugh! It dropped for my pally a few days ago, but even though my main spec is holy I’ve been wearing it while healing faceroll fights - like HH himself. I bound the /use to my judgement spell :).

I’m sure I’ll get tired of it eventually, but it still makes me giggle.

Well, my WoW playing these days is mostly confined to doing a handful of dailies on each of my max- or near-max-level toons. Mostly the PvP dailies in Grizzly Hills, which get me about 200 HP/day and let me get some actual gear, since I lost all my interest in dungeons in Cata and I just suck at actual PvP. In any case I’ve gotten hooked on City of Heroes.

I’ve been slowly doing some housecleaning, since I had something like 43 toons spread across six servers, of which I only play maybe 4-5 with any regularity. So I’m logging in my inactive toons, vendoring everything they own (let me tell you, a naked female troll DK is not an attractive sight) except for stuff that might sell on the AH, mailing all their gold and auctionables to my main toon on the same server, and finally deleting them. So as far as my BDL toons, I bid farewell to Pinezensuuz, Hexpot, Flambé, Tenemok, and Uprofen (along with Schwindel, a goblin rogue I rolled up on Cairne but never logged in, so he wasn’t in the BDL). My remaining BDL toons are Donoma the tauren paladin (formerly Keliraeda the blood elf paladin), Chimtahna the tauren hunter (I don’t play him any more, but he was my first Horde character and I don’t have the heart to delete him), Jabloo the troll hunter, and Quixil the goblin priest.

My Alliance RP guild on Argent Dawn is dead in everything but name. It’s down to 20 members, many of whom haven’t been logged in for a year. My main there, a now-level-84 night elf hunter named Nouveus, temporarily took over as GL earlier this year when the guild founder’s unemployment kept him away for a couple months. I eventually bought him 90 days of game time and handed the reins back to him, but after a month or so he disappeared again. I’m guessing that his continuing unemployment forced him to shut off his Internet, since he hasn’t posted on the guild forum, either. But he’s a RealID friend, so if he comes back he can find me. So I’ve done the same thing there - cashed out and deleted all of my characters on AD except for Nouveus, and I think I’m gonna server transfer him to Alexstrasza so I can help out Quasi when I have time. I figure a max-level character who can accompany him on higher-level quests would make things easier than trying to verbally explain things here.

I have a handful of Horde toons on Cenarion Circle, a couple of which I’d like to keep (Dimondley, a level 56 undead warrior, and Fyrna, a level 58 orc warlock), so I may transfer them to Cairne when I have the fundage.

I wanted to mention that I posted a request to my new guild about our Monday night run. Hopefully we can grab a couple people to fill out the numbers and put together a raid. I noticed that Monday’s event has 6 people accepted, but one is Kalathan who is saved to FL. On the other hand, I don’t believe hdc_bst has responded, but he’s usually on on Mondays.

We’ll see what kind of response we get from the folks at KA and Skethyl Berry. Maybe we’ll do a Tier 11 raid to involve Kal.

Forgot to mention our BDL Guild has now aquired the Group Summon perk at Level 21…did this on Friday night with a combination of guild dungeon runs and individual accomplishments.

Not a lot of BDL discussion recently, so I thought I’d popped in.

Monday saw yet another > 5, < 10 turn-out. Kalathan, Bird (Moo), Rahmon, Togrizzix (my mage) and Jarryn (right?) did a partial Z-roic. For some reason things weren’t really clicking, and we called it a night early.

The numbers thing seems to keep biting us - we’re not able to field a full 10-man and everyone (myself included) is a bit hesitant recruiting PuG-ers given our novice understanding of the raid fights.

I’d love to see some sort of Monday night activity that involved everyone on. PvP could be a choice, but I think we have some members who are no-PvP. Is this a case of not liking PvP (in which case we shouldn’t make it the guild activity) or not being good/experienced (meaning its something we can try)?

Another thing I’d be up for is running old content. There are a lot of raids I’ve never set foot inside. I think that with 6-8 85s (our typical turnout) we should be able to do just about any raid from earlier expansions. Anyone interested in or opposed to such a run?

I’d love to.

Many thanks, BTW, to Gworg, who gave me some good advice (and a glyph) for my hunter. I was getting frustrated with playing her in Stonecore; couldn’t seem to do anything right and kept dying (twice in the first 10 minutes I was logged on. Gworg reminded me of the joys of the misdirection talent; I found a macro that makes casting it much simpler, and things went a lot more smoothly after that.

We had 5 folks on at 9:00 (sorry Makig) so we did ZA. Did pretty well - a couple of deaths but no wipes until the final boss, which took 4 or 5 tries. We also got the “Here Kitty Kitty” achievement.

I did some random BGs earlier and ended up in an epic battle for Gilneas. It was nonstop action, and the lead went back and forth a few times. At one point I attacked the lighthouse all by myself against another spriest and a DK and I took them out and captured the flag. But most of the fighting was in big groups with a lot of healers, so they lasted forever until everyone started running out of mana. We ended up losing 1880 to 2000 but it was a fun one and I got the “Gilneas All-Star” achievement for capping and defending a flag.

Not sure I’ll be around next Monday night; my parents will visiting for Thanksgiving week.

Yeah, after Makig came online I was tempted to derail our Z dungeon and see if we wanted to try and 6man some old content for fun, but we were well on our way. I also thought we could finish within the first hour, but that damn Jin’do wipe at <1% got us all off our game.

No hard feelings at all. I think getting rolling at set time of 9:00 is a vast improvement over waiting around trying to figure out what to do. Just sorry I missed the run. Ghworg, Yeti, and I did fit in another heroic later on in the evening.

Our first group got to complete the Crucible of Carnage quests as well for the achievements, we could do it again with other alts as well. Bosses 1,2,3 can be done with only 2 players, but 4 and 5 is harder, but was a breeze with 5.

4.3 LFR get-together
My new guild, KA, is trying to put together a group for an lfr-based raid on Friday nights. Since the BDL (and ex-BDL) has been so helpful in saving their rads, they’ve asked me to pass along the information. If you’ll be around 9-11 CST on Fridays and want to participate let me know. I’m not really sure why they are putting together a group to LFR, except that with a majority maybe they feel they can control the progress a bit more. It would be nice to LFR (PuG) with some sort of leadership and if you’ve run with KA before, you know they are great about explaining bosses before pulling. Also, 25 people are still hard to come by and it’s better to log on knowing you only need 7 people instead of 17.
But anyway, the offer still stands. If you want to join up, let me know and I’ll pass along the info.
This will be a great way to get some good gear. But I’m hoping the raid-locks don’t prohibit you from running a lfr and a 10-man in the same week. (Or multiple lfrs?)
