The Burning Dog Inn

Hey guys!

I haven’t had a chance to log into Cairne lately. I went on a Vegas trip for several days. Had a blast and did well in poker tourneys.

I’m seriously thinking about attending Blizzcon as well.

Darkhold, I’m sorry to see you go. I hope you come back at some point.

Lazlo, pleased you’re back, hope to see you soon.

Where is everybody? I hardly see anybody online anymore. Except Bipp. Always on. Always. Usually pulling rare items out of pig snouts. Is it the graphics card problems? Are people away on vacation?
And what’s the deal with the Guild Bank? I am trying to use up as much stuff as I am able, but it is very full all the time. ¾ of it is stuff far above my level, not my skill set or not terribly useful for a rogue (+int and such). Is anybody else taking stuff? I would throw in some greens and blues from around my level (20-25ish) but it is almost always full? I think we have enough for another tab but I don’t know if it would help, people would probably keep throwing stuff in and not take it out and then it would fill up again.
Ok, see you on soon.

I’m a graphic/lock-up victim. I plan on replacing my power supply this weekend, and give it a 23% chance of fixing MY problem. If it does, I’ll be back on (Squip/Norsablab).

But frankly, even under the best of conditions, I don’t think participation will be as high as it was. For people trying WoW for the first time, or those that (like me) picked it back up after a long hiatus, the novelty wears off somewhat after a few weeks. I’d predict that in three months there will only be a half-dozen regular (at least once a week) players. It’s just the nature of the beast, I think.

Kene and Omencaller/Riverheart are on vacation, haven’t seen Athena in ages, same with Demo. I’ve given up on Carnita and her husband coming back.

We might need a more involved guild leader in order to keep things together. There’s hardly any chat in guild anymore, and during the day practically none at all. I was even thinking of rolling an alliance toon so I could join a daytime guild, but I’d hate to add to the attrition of what started out to be a fun group.

I’m still hoping to do a nekkid run after Memorial Day, when Kene and Omen are back.

Usually there’s a 15-minute queue in the evenings, the server’s so full, but only 1-3 of us in the game. :frowning:

I just got a bad case of WoW boredom, coupled with GTA IV coming out (which I’m done with already - it got dull pretty quick), and now Age of Conan, plus there’s this “summer” thing happening which means I try to get outside more.

Ditto Athena. When I have logged in I’ve been scared away by the huge queues and have logged on a different toon to PVP or quest for an hour or two. I’m going to try to remember to log in early while I do other stuff to let the queue time out so I can play my SDMB toons.

I am still around at times, but was just running BG (so I am still level 19…). I have the video issue with my machine, haven’t figured out how to fix it.

I play on several servers (I prefer PVP servers for the fear factor), but I still jump on every now and then.

Not vacation, two weeks of work-travel for me. I’ll get back today and hope to play some this weekend, but family stuff will take priority this weekend. I’ll liquidate the guild bank when I’m on next.

I’ll be trying Age of Conan next (birthday present!). I’ll split time between the two games for the free month and then decide which way to go. While it’s sad to see the guild go down in numbers, that’s typical for MMORPG guilds. It’ll always come down to a small core of players.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the Horde…I don’t like their areas as much as Alliance. Fortunately now I’m to a point where I have several “contested” areas available for Squip, like Stranglethorn Vale. Yet, when I have to visit The Undercity or some other Horde city, I long for Stormwind and Ironforge.

Secondly, I’ve already got loads of characters on other servers, up to level 64. Initially the restarting (both gameplay and a new character) was exciting, but now that I’m largely doing the same stuff (with the same classes) as I’ve already done on other servers, it is getting stale (and I miss playing with my old characters…they have history).

Hardware issues aside, I think once we’re allowed to transfer in characters from other servers, my interest will pick back up.

Oh me too Raza. I know that quite a few of us have stale characters on other servers that we’d like to get more action out of. I have 2 horde 70s and 2 alli 70s that I wouldn’t mind playing some more. Maybe we can find out where most of the alli toons are and people could move their alli toons there. I’d definitely be willing to do that. I was planing on moving my hordies to Cairne when it came open anyway. It seems like WotLK is not far away and I know lots of people will be ready to pick it back up then.

Does anyone know for sure when transfers will be allowed?

I hope no one feels like we’re demanding justification for their absence. It is helpful, however, to know who might return, and what issues are holding folks back.

Sorry, Pleonast. I knew you were traveling for work.

In the evenings I sign into the queue and then do the dishes, feed the cats, etc. It helps to sign in before you’re really ready to play.

Cairne opened in February, and it’s usually a 6-month moratorium on transfers to new servers, so sometime in July, probably.
Yeah, that’s not really “for sure”. Call me Heisenberg.

My only excuse is that real life and other things have interfered somewhat. I did play last night, though. Husband has some strange idea about grinding to level 55 so we can get a death knight or whatever on Cairne. I’m at level 15, so only 40 levels to go. I don’t think so.

Demo, my main is a level 33 (or thereabouts) gnome warlock on Rexxar. I like Rexxar because it doesn’t have the 100-person queue every single time you want to play–in fact, there is usually no queue at all.

He’s going to have to go a bit further than 55 to get a death knight. When Wrath of the Lich King is released, the death knight will be available only to toons of level 80.

Not according to the official website.

Ah, they’ve changed things since the last update I saw!

I didn’t get much play time over the weekend. But I noticed are guild vault has enough money to buy another tab! I couldn’t figure out how to buy it. I think we need the guildmaster for that.

Jragon, FWIW, I’ve upgraded power supply (needed to do that anyway, I suppose) and swapped out for an ATI 3870. Initial 1.5 WoW hours (do we divide by 7 or multiply by 7 to get “real” hours?) were promising, but then two crashes in the next 1.5 play hours, on separate days. Also crashes in Supreme Commander at about the same frequency.

Back in goes the 8800GTS. I’m willing to try a new motherboard/CPU (current is MSI/AMD/NVidia chipset, can try something/Intel/Intel), but I’m concerned about the software/OS side of making that change.

Have you tried swapping out your ram sticks Raza?
