The Burning Dog Inn

You don’t have to go that far. This is what I was trying to avoid. You are unable to be a useful GM solely because you can’t log on. That is not your fault. There are simply functions of the guild that can’t be performed without proper privilages. When Blizzard gets off their butts, admits they are wrong and fixs a problem that TONS of people are having then you can join us again for some fun times and pick up the mantle of GM if you still want it. We are not a hard-core raiding guild (or hardcore in any real way) so we don’t need a 24/7 all out GM at the front of the ranks. I have not interest in stepping on people’s feet or making the guild political. It is a game and so far it is very fun for me. Honestly I don’t really care who is the GM or not. You are our GM and can stay that way. I just want to know if there is a way to appoint a Assistant to the GM that can take care of some of the tasks you would in your absence. There seems to be a good core group of 6-10 people who are on a lot and any one would be fine. I don’t see anybody going all “ha ha I am the new GM, bow to me” if promoted. We just need a player (who Blizzard isn’t screwing over) that can put in the time when we need it. As far as I am concerned you are always welcome whenever you are able to come back.

Also, nobody signed a contract that says they would play a certain amount, people have lives and changing priorities. All I ask is if you want to go play AoC exclusively for the next 3 months or so, and you hold important guild functions, simply pass them off for the time.

Yeah, Jragon, don’t do anything so drastic. We’re all still hoping you can get the problem resolved and come back as GM! The immediate problem is finding someone who can help you out temporarily, since Frotty seems to have dropped out. I’d hate to see you, or anyone, quit in frustration.

Another vote for Jragon to stay GM. Not sure if you know anyone with a working WOW computer, or even a internet/gaming cafe in your area. If you do, you can log on with your account credentials and promote someone up. We need guild-leadership, and you were the only one dumb, uh courageous enough to take it on.
Please don’t leave us. You’re our only hope…

I would never want to hurt your feelings, but I’m just trying to be practical, since the guild has been frozen out for a long time, now. I think it’s a good idea to have shared leadership anyway, because people do drop out, etc.

Hopefully when you get your tech issues resolved, you can return and participate in whatever capacity you wish!

This guild is made up of many people, all contributing their knowledge and efforts in lots of different ways. Thank you for helping us get started, and I hope we’ll see you in game soon! We need your engineering and lockpicking skills, and when you return we can do another scary run in pirate form.

Just so people know what’s up, Jrag gave Bipp access to his acct so she could transfer guild leadership to me. I promoted Kruler, Bipp and RB to officers so now four of us can do whatever needs to be done. I’m also going to buy a new bank tab tomorrow unless there are any objections. Jrag, as soon as you can get back in, I’ll pass leadership back to you.

Guys, don’t worry no one hurt my feelings in any way. I just feel bad when I accept something and can’t carry out my vaguely established duties and tend to over react, it’s totally my own failing; nothing anyone else did wrong.

Anyway, I’m trying some problem-solving strategies on this issue, I haven’t gotten very far yet, but I’m hoping I can get a workaround.

If you find anything with promise, Jragon, let me know. I’ve tried everything suggested by the 1,000 posts on this issue, short of a new computer, and nothing’s held up as a solution (and I might even consider a new computer if I could be guaranteed it would work, but some of those with the problem HAVE new PCs).

At my son’s urging, I went to the Isle of Quel’Danas to do some level 70 dailies. According to him, you just go there, do all the dailies, it takes about an hour, and you make about 120 gold. I didn’t have that kind of experience. It was confusing and difficult, impossible to travel, and then we realized that on his server there has been more progress in attaining objectives, thus unlocking more conveniences and providing more “safe areas”, etc.

This is the Shattered Sun Offensive, introduced in the 2.4 patch. The offensive progresses in Phases, so I urge anyone thinking of going to read a guide such as this before going there, so they aren’t as thoroughly baffled as I was.

Now if I can just remember all the quests I deleted in my log to make space for these ones…

Another thought: this series of quests would be much more fun as a group of 2 or 3. More mature servers are further along in these objectives, so it’s kind of our duty as Horde to pioneer this part of the world and make it ready for the ones that follow.

It would be great to have a few set times/week that a pair or group of us go do them to progress the storyline - ie. MWF 8:00 server time, we group to do these. Big money and more to come once there is progress.

Oh, and you can do bombing!

I Am Murloch , from the official WOW site.

I’ve been doing the currently available Shattered Sun daily quests, and I’ve found that once you get the hang of them, they’re not hard. In addition to the 5 or so quests you can pick up there, there are related quests in Hellfire, Blade’s Edge, Nagrand, and elsewhere. Those can be picked up from npc’s offering them in Shatt.

Okay.
My wife had a blow-up on Saturday night about how much I’ve been playing WoW the last few months. (Bad timing - I was right in the middle of the “Cruel’s Intentions” quest fight and had to abandon my party in the middle of it). She has somewhat of a point - I probably average 15-20 hours per week. She’s sort of biased against videogames to begin with, so that doesn’t help.

So in the interest of domestic tranquility, I’m gonna have to cut way back. I have a group of RL friends I play with on a different server most Mondays, so my Burning Dog time will probably drop to 2 or 3 nights per week, at most.

So if you don’t see me as often, that’s why. At least I’ll not have to worry about running out of rested XP anymore. I’ll still try to get to 70 as soon as I can, and if we ever get to a point where we have scheduled events - raids or what have you - I should be able to work with it as long as I’m not on every night.

Sorry to hear that Skammer, I hope we’ll still see you a bit.

In that vein, I’d like to try and setup a day/time that can be our weekly meeting time for instancing, nekkid partying, Sunwell questing, nekkid instancing, running our guildies through dungeons, or anything else really. I see from your post that you are busy Mondays, so I’m putting it out to try and find a good day. I also know that we are pretty varied as to which timezone we are in, so we’ll see if it’s even feasible.

For me, I can do week-nights (M-Th), or weekend-mornings.
Anyone else like the idea?
Rottingbird

Just to keep my options open for when I get fixed, anyone know when transfers open (if they haven’t already)? I have another character damn near identical to my current one except he’s level 68 on another server (my guild jumped the server long ago and my friend quit so nothing is tying me down). My only issue with him is I just powered his engineering to 300 (you see I had eng 300, dropped it to try jewelcrafting, hated it and had to relevel eng >.<) before we started this guild so he’s dirt poor, but between the vast amounts of gold do various collection quests in Nag (or just farming) and dailies once I hit 70 I should be good. Also, it’d make my last two levels relatively peaceful since I leveled him exclusively on a PvP and RP-PvP (after my first friend quit) so It’ll all feel really calm.

Unless that comes off as cheating you guys of course.

Jragon, that wouldn’t bother me at all.

FB, weeknights work better for me than weekday mornings. Any day Tu-Th I can make work. In fact, since we rarely go out, I’m usually available weekend nights as well. I haven’t instanced with anyone in the guild for a while and I miss it!

Skammer/Kene

I like your idea, Bird! I’m free most nights.

Last night we found out that Blizzard was offering free character transfers off of Cairne. We tossed around the idea of moving the guild to a medium server, but then found out 1) today is the deadline 2) we could only transfer to a particular server, with a 9:1 Alliance/Horde ratio.

However, if there is ever another opportunity to move for free, I think we should seriously consider it. Perhaps we might discuss it in advance, so that we could act upon the idea right away if it comes up again.

Jragon, we can move characters to Cairne in August. See the official WOW forum for the Cairne server, for the exact date.

Any weeknight would work for me as well.

I’m planning on bringing a couple of my other toons to this server as well when transfers open up, since I hardly ever play on the server they’re on right now.

Ah… Skammer pulled wife aggro. Kinda hard to shake that sometimes. We’ll be here when you get time.

I’m on board with Bird’s suggestion of setting up a meeting time. I’m generally available Tu-Fri nites.

All things considered, I think it’s a good thing we missed the transfer period this time. The realm we could go to didn’t look like it would have been an ideal situation for us. Reading their realm forums a little last nite, it seems there are too many Alliance for them to work together to get anything done and there aren’t enough Hordies to get anything done. Overall, their realm’s progression as a whole through content is way behind Cairne’s.

Having said that, I agree we should keep out eyes out in case another transfer opportunity comes up if for no other reason we can get some of the people who are fed up with queue times to come back. Like was discussed in guild chat last nite, we all seem to agree we have no particular allegiance to Cairne and can go if the chance comes up again.

I don’t know where exactly I saw it, but IIRC the date for open transfers to Cairne is Aug. 28. I say we start looking for another free transfer off opportunity a couple weeks before that. With that in mind, Jragon, hold off on your transfer until we make a decision if we’re even going to stay there. And I don’t consider it cheating-- I have a couple toons sitting around collecting dust (70 hunter, 46 mage) that I will probably move wherever we end up.

I’ve spent the last few days trying to level up Jarryn’s jewelcrafting, so if anyone comes across any Aquamarine, Blue Sapphire, Large Opal, Huge Emerald, or Azerothian Diamond they don’t immediately need I’ll buy them from you. And if I never see a Flask of Mojo again it will be too soon.

He should’ve Feigned Death…

I tried Fade, and when that didn’t work, I thought about using Psychic Scream, but then I remembered she’s immune to fear affects

I’ll probably be on tonight though, I’m going for an every-other-night compromise and seeing how that works.

And I hope this current free transfer offer is wildly successful; i’m sick of the 25 minute queue times. I don’t have any aversion to us all switching servers if a good one comes up. (Do we get to keep our guild bank?)

:Snort:  Omg I can’t stop laughing.
You had my whole family in stitches with that one!
