That’s really cold. What is it in Fahrenheit? About five-hundred below?

Tried blowing the drive. It was all going well until I ditched the mower/blower. Sometimes finding the drive is problematic.

If you’d just keep it clear, you could see where it is to clear it!

Errrrrr…

Yeah, that sounds about right. :smiley:

I’ve never shovelled such hard snow before - the wind packed it down so hard, it was like chipping out our sidewalk. I think we’ve pretty much decided that our next house will not be a corner lot. We don’t get tons of snow here, but we’re not getting any younger.

Just finished shovelling. Phew! In some places, there was bare pavement; in others, four-foot drifts. And Cat is correct; the wind packed it down.

So, what’s with the Ron Burgundy angle on the “Roar of the Rings” bonspiel?

What’s up with that? Why is Will Ferrel interested in curling in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada?

I’m not against it. I think any attention to the sport is good, but is there a tie-in to the next Anchorman movie or something?

(And of course my niece is on the Homan rink, so please feel free to cheer away!)

ETA: I see Spoons already asked the same questions, essentially. Sorry for the duplication.

Leaffan, I’m pretty sure it’s just a publicity stunt, in order to create buzz for the next Anchorman movie.

Apparently Burgundy/Ferrell are doing, or already have done an actual local news broadcast alongside the normal anchor in some non-descript US town.

I like it; I think it’s a great idea. From the little I’ve heard, the other TV journalists involved have enjoyed it also.

Watched the Homan rink win on Tuesday. Good luck for tonight!

Thanks. I watched them lose on the last rock last night. How deflating.

Here’s something to cheer us all up in the middle of the winter doldrums. :slight_smile:

Well, actually, I guess we’re just in the start of the winter doldrums. Now I’m bumming myself out again.

Some scenes from Calgary today -
the road and sidewalk (and my husband who wasn’t too happy to be out in the cold weather :slight_smile: );

snow, snow, snow; (there’s a sidewalk under there somewhere);

this is what happens when you don’t move your damned car when the plows come by.

Great photos!

And just think, it will officially be winter in two weeks or so.

At the moment according to Environment Canada it is -30C in Edmonton, with a windchill of -42C! I hate winter!

Well if it’s that cold you don’t have to worry about more snow! Great news! :wink:

30% chance of flurries this morning and early this afternoon.

Today is the 24th anniversary of the massacre at L’École Polytechnique.

I was only four years old when it happened, but I remember it happening. I remember my mother trying to explain it to me.

Great news! More insulation!

I’ll stop now.

Seconded.

I remember being in 1st year Engineering. We ripped up pillow cases for armbands and wore them for the rest of term. It was very unsettling hearing about it, as I knew some people that were going to Polytech at the time.

I went to plug my car in this morning, and once again I was reminded that we need a better way to plug cars in other than a rock-hard plastic plug and a rock-hard plastic socket. Come on, technology people - get on this!
