Nope. There has been a trend towards passing fixed dates for elections up here to “take the politics” out of calling an election when it is most advantageous for the ruling party. Unfortunately, the constitution allows the Lieutenants Governor to call an election upon the advise of the Premier regardless of any other legislation.
A little late, but many thanks for this. I’ll go over the material I received regarding the OAS, and get that moving. Thanks again!
Got it, thanks, FTTL!

and note 8: Conacher v Canada (Prime Minister)
CBC/338 says it’s a coin flip tonight in Saskatchewan:
Looks like Eby in BC will hold onto office; but still some judicial recounts to come, sounds like.
Waiting for results. Polls closed half an hour ago, and counting is by hand.
And that’s one of the great things about Canadian elections: counting is by hand. No chance to blame computers or machines about results.
Well, maybe; the last municipal election I voted in was counted by machine.
But the big ones, the provincial and federal elections; they’re all by hand. Easy enough, a number of names on the ballot, you pick one, and there you go. In and out of the voting site in 15 minutes or less; no worrying about downballot races.
Yeah, being down in the US now, and seeing/hearing all the horseshit from the side that plans to steal the election about how the other side is planning to steal the election really makes me grateful for Elections Canada!
(Even when shit happens like Scott Moe getting a majority after putting trans kids’ lives in jeopardy… I’m not questioning whether or not that reflects the will of the electorate, I’m just despairing who the electorate chose.)
I would say, though, that we have ‘downballot’ issues in Canada as well - most people don’t pay much attention to positions like School Trustee, but that’s how we get book banners and people who support ‘parental rights’ into the political system.
@Northern_Piper what’s happening in the play off game?
13 - 6 Riders 1:26 in 2nd Q.
BC was at 3rd down, 3 yards, and Vernon Adams stayed on the field. He punted! 44 yard kick from a QB.
Lions threatening with 56 seconds

You’re not helping!
Tied at the half.
I merely report.
However, can also report that the Riders 13th Man is having an effect. At one point BC had to call a timeout because Adams couldn’t hear the call from the offensive coordinator.
Are you at the game?
Too cold and too windy!
Plus, beer is much cheaper Chez Pipers.
Fair.
Interesting article about a Royal Canadian Navy captain, who goes to sea with his grandfather’s typewriter.
AJ Ouellette runs it in!
