Now you’re getting the hang of it!
BC misses a field goal - hits the post. Second time tonight; also missed the point after on their first TD. Double boink.
TD Riders! 26-19
2 pt conversion: 28-19, so now a two score difference.
Riders pick off BC pass at Riders 5 yard line!
Riders ball at 3:25
Riders for the win!
The latest nanny-state Discourse rule kicked me out of the thread.
Thanks, Trump.
Any interest in tomorrow’s Grey Cup game? I just learned it is being played in Vancouver, which indicates how closely I’ve been following events. It’s the 111th game, or as l believe sportswriter Dick Beddoes called it, “the Grand National Drunk.”
I believe the last time Toronto and Winnipeg played each other was the notorious Mud Bowl of 1950.
Since the Vancouver stadium is a dome, that won’t be an issue, despite our nasty rains of late. I hope @Northern_Piper broadcasts the game here.
I may be in bed with a bad head cold. Feeling grotty.
How can you not know about such an epochal event in your own province?!?
I’ve been busy?
I was getting my hair cut and barber commented on all the football fans who were in town. Thanks to your earlier work on the semifinals, I clued in quickly and avoided embarrassing myself. “What about those Bombers, eh?”
No, no, no! Good Heavens, the last time Winnipeg and Toronto played the in the Grey Cup final was 2022, an incredible game where Winnipeg led for much of it and Toronto out-manouvered them in the final few minutes.
I’m not sure where I can watch the game here in NYC, but I will give it my best shot!
Here’s the history of the two teams in the Grey Cup - West Coast Clash: 111th Grey Cup matchup set - CFL.ca
Indeed. Prior thread here:
Hénoc Muamba, the hero of the Argos in the 2022 Grey Cup, is now a TSN commentator. Will likely be on the sidelines tomorrow.
He got a run back that sealed the desk for the Argos, and won MVP and Most Outstanding Canadian. Only the second player to win both in Grey Cup history.
He missed the 2023 season due to injury and retired, so that Grey Cup and the two awards were the climax of his career. Nice way to end it.
A quick look tells me that CBS Sports will be carrying the game in the US.
Other than that, I’ve been in the US before for the game, and it was on one of the ESPN channels.
Failing all that, it looks like you could get the game through CFL+:
Seems to require registration, but it’s also free.
Hope you can watch it somehow. I’ll certainly be watching. Hope Toronto can manage without Kelly.
Weather forecast is a low of -4, high of +7, no snow. But there’s been windgusts all day today, so that could be challenging if it continues tomorrow. The wind gave the BC FG kicker fits during the Western Semi-Final two weeks ago, with one FG and one point after hitting the uprights.
As Glen Suitor, colour commentator for TSN said in the Western Semi-Final: “A windy day in Regina? Who’d thunk?”
Sigh. I had my weather app still set on Regina, not Vancouver.
We attended a Grey Cup in BC Place in 2005, and the stadium was cold. Of course, that was back when the roof was held up by air pressure, so for three hours we were sitting in cold Pacific damp air. Maybe it would be better now with the fixed roof?
Low of 4, high of 7, with rain tomorrow. In Vancouver.
60 years ago, Toronto and Winnipeg both finished the season at the bottom of their division. What a difference a few decades makes!
I’m in bed, sneezing and coughing, not watching the game, but apparently it’s 10-9 in favour of the Bombers, late in the 3rd.
Prince Harry apparently came to watch the game.
