I’m making chili tonight, too! Unfortunately, it is not in the crockpot. Cornbread sounds good, but I really like Fritos with my chili.
I have decided I will be challenging Mr Rebo in the Super Bowl chili cook-off this season. He has a third place for 2009, and a second place for 2010. We need to have a first place trophy!
**FCD **is home - we’ll go grab something to eat soon-ish.
Valuable lesson learned about puppies - don’t let them chew on/eat fabric stuff. Cosmo ate shreds of an old cotton towel, and pooped out threads, except they wouldn’t come all the way out on their own. I got to yank poop threads out of his little puppy ass. Yes, I’ve washed my hands. With soap. And hot water. And I threw the towel in the garbage. Stoopit dog.
We, (first wife and I) had a dog once that got into the garbage and swallowed a plastic bag with some kind of food in it. The bag came out the other end, mostly, some time later, with it’s contents still intact. I had to finish the process by hand.:eek:
I also boiled some chicken boobs cause tomorrow Ima make a chicken pot pie.
OYKW has also been “welcomed home” appropriately. He went to his place instead of stayin’ at da cave as I was hopin’ he would cause he wants to go in early tomorrow and his place is closer, so the sensible side of me let him out. I didn’t want to though.
Handbells were fun, as usual. Dinner at church was chicken fajitas. Dessert is a heaping case of indigestion. Kids are in choir, hubby went home to fix dinner for his mom, and I’m sitting in the fellowship hall.
And, just when I think I might want to have a dog sometime, we’re back with the icky stories. Thanks, Mooooommmm.
Sorry about VWife’s friend, Bobbio.
::waves at Alien::
I’ve been wandering slowly through my Twitter stream this evening, collecting people for twicks and, of course, getting sidetracked. Found a couple of gems to share:
Forgot to mention earlier that it’s Mexico’s bicentennial and they’re throwing a big ol’ party. The country is pretty much shut down till Friday (the holiday always starts on the 15th and goes through the 16th; they’re tacking on an extra day this year). There’s a live webcast of the concerts around Mexico City over here. I imagine they’ll be broadcasting the president when he does the ceremonial yell, too (at midnight, I think). There are a bunch of official videos on YouTube. Here’s one in English that talks about Mexico’s independence.
Good morning, and SURPRISE! IT’s ME!!! I need to leave for a Dr appt in just under an hour and goodness knows, I’m not going to be doing anything useful in that time. So here I be.
I actually got to sleep in until 6, and it was loverly! Great way to start the day. I could do this all the time, except I’d have to work later to make up for it. I’d rather get out early, so I’ll go in early.
The only bad thing this morning is needing the fasting blood test. I’ve got me a killer headache already. By 8:30, I expect I’ll be really, um, cranky… Oh well…
I’m fully clad for my first post today. Of course I’m at work, and FedGov frowns on nekkidness at the office.
The stoooopid season has begun. Deer, deer everywhere, and I don’t want any high speed Bambi hood ornaments.
The last time VWife checked, Prudence was still hanging on. She decreed that I take the Family Truckster to work so I can get it washed today. She’s planning on taking a load of OWWLs to funeralize.
I’ve been seeing a nutritionist because I’m losing sveltness. Get this: she says I’m gaining weight because I don’t eat ENOUGH carbs…
And a happy doscientos años a nuestros hermanos mexicanos…
I’m sleepy. The sun is sleepy and that makes me sleepy.
Bobbio, I want a slow and detailed explanation on that carbs thing. I can see “you should eat less A, B and C and more carbs”, but directly “eat more carbs” doesn’t make no sense no how.
My crockpot is better than y’all’s crockpots cos I got it in Alsace, so there. Pity this flat doesn’t have an oven, because I don’t think that kind of pot is supposed to go on vitro. Oh, and some day I hope to have enough vacation time to actually feel the need to purchase and cook chicken. We get so much chicken at work, I won’t be surprised if people start growing feathers.
Figure in that I’m also diabetic, and had good results with low carb diets pre-surgery (until I got so bored that I would give up on them). A lot of factors figure in to my avoidance of carbs.
As she sees it, I consume no appreciable amount of starch or sugar during the work week from 4AM-4PM, although I have plenty of protein and bulk fiber. By the time I get home after said 4PM, I’m so hungry from carb deprivation that I cheat, and that’s where the weight gain is coming from. Weekends I’m home, and then the carb cheating is almost constant.
By adding something carb filled to my lunch bucket during the work day, I’ll have enough to tame the hunger monster as I leave work, so I won’t have a problem when I get home.
