sunny, I’ve found Yelp to be of limited value in some areas. One stop in Missouri gave KFC four and half stars when we were checking out fried chicken, hoping for some mom & pop type place with sides that your mama would feed you.
spidey, I saute scallops in a metric shit ton of garlic and butter occasionally. I’ve also been known to do chunks of chicken like that, top it with freshly grated parm and serving it over linguini.
All I have to do for the heathen children’s craft now is to write the instructions for the volunteer. It turned out pretty.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 46 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 65 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today laundry shall be accomplished. OYKW wants to go out for N.O.L. somewhere so we most likely shall. Sup shall be bbq sammiches made from leftover poke roast, fries, and slaw. Other than that, another day of bein’ retired drains on society is in store.
I like escargot, though I will admit it’s main purpose is to eat a bunch of garlic and butter. Like Red I will sauté scallops in garlic and butter. The chikin idea sounds good. I shall try that one day.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
No baby, no dogs, no cats - it’s what we in the business call a break!
I had to get up and put a super-hot compress on my face last night - my sinuses were pounding! But it broke up the congestion and I was able to fall back to sleep, so huzzah for that. I’m about to go to the cable place again and take the stoopid DVR back and get the little converter box. It’ll save us $20/month, and we never used the DVR functions anyway.
Other than that, no plans for the day. Happy Tuesday!
Another reason to not like the French. There’s lots of dirty beings/practices in this world but things that leave slime trails (or their cousins) should not be eaten. Yeech!
I typically spend more time in the ocean in winter than I do in the summer. I’ve been on the beach twice already this year. Once to plunge & then went back on at sunset to get pics.
I used more than ½ of a head last night. ‘Fraid o’ vampires I is.
I have successfully exchanged the stoopit DVR and installed the new converter box. All is good. For now. SIL is tending to Roxy since it’s his day off. **FCD **is at an early meeting. Daughter is teaching her middle school charges. Higgs is chewing on a hunk of antler. Life is good.
It’s 34 degrees and partly cloudy outside.
Nice and toasty warm inside.
Home from the park. Only two of os there today, well two people and three dogs.
I’ll make the pork roast today that I didn’t make yesterday. Other than that, just irk and house irk. I don’t know which is more irksome.
My son finally got his first two assignments in last night. I was pissed. Class started on the 2nd, but the professor had put the irk out on the 26th. I told him to get started on it early, but he didn’t listen. I get off irk at 11 and go straight up to bed, but last night I was still up proofreading two papers that were due at midnight. He has 15 weeks worth of work crammed into three weeks, there is no time to play around.
Ocean City in the wintertime is nice, no crowds. An ex-bf lived in Delaware and we’d go to O.C. all year long except in the summer. One year we were there in February, it was unseasonably warm that weekend. It wasn’t so crowded, but more people than expected. There was no food or drink to be found. Every place we went was sold out. Finally found one place that would serve us, but nothing as was described on the menu. Basically whatever combination of stuff the cook could put together.
**sari **- That’s my only concern - decent restaurants. But I did a search and there seem to be enough that are open year-round, without forcing us to resort to fast food. Worst case, we get burgers and sit in our room looking at the ocean while we eat.
Sinus pressure is still plaguing me. The hot tea isn’t helping - I may have to resort to a hot compress again. Oh, how I hate being sick!
Sari, the kid seems the master of the last-minute push…needs to find a job that values that…
Stayed in bed until 9:10am today, just a good night for sleeping I guess. The rain that was predicted disappeared, but looks like Friday and Saturday will be damp. Some more packing and calling is on the agenda, and need to change the battery in the clock (showing a steady 12:08 right now).
Mrs. L.A. used all of the NyQuil and DayQuil last week, except for half a dose of NyQuil I took last night. I decided to telecommute today, so as to avoid spreading contagion around the office. This morning I went to Rite-Aid. They were out of the store-brand NyQuil/DayQuil, so I had to spend $17 for the brand-name stuff. The dental hygienist suggested I used Closys toothpaste, and gave me a coupon. Apparently, Rite-Aid doesn’t carry it.
I went to the store and bought a quart of chicken broth and a can of chicken breast meat.
Lots of snow, big flakes coming down fast.
I wasn’t expecting this, but I don’t have to go out so is cool.
I guess.
I haven’t been to O.C. in a long time, but I think Phillips is open all year. If Phillips is still down there, not my favorite place to go. Cadillac Jack’s is where we ended up eating that February. I don’t know if that is still there. I’m sure all the hotels will have food.
I’m pretty sure Seacrets is open all year, I have friends who love the place and they go all year round.
Just be careful who you talk to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erika_and_Benjamin_Sifrit
MetalMouse, I think my son needs a swift kick in the starter.
Happy Tuesday, everyone. The pouring rain has trailed off into the usual drizzle. Not a good lupus arthritis day. Hopefully I’ll feel better later on. This is the only place I complain about it. I guess it’s because I know it won’t distress you.
I have a grocery delivery at 3 PM. That’s my big excitement today.
I hope everyone suffering from colds and sinus crud feels better soon. Barkeep, hot toddies all around!
It’s pouring down here and I just fired up the pellet stove because there’s a chill in the house. Roxy just got up from her nap, but her parents are working for **FCD **in his shop, so she’s all mine. Well, mine and the TV.
Today is my mom’s 86th and SIL’s 31st. Mom’s getting a call soon. SIL and daughter are going out for dinner.
I’m still sniffling. It’s so hard being me… <pose of woe>
No big plans for the day. Need to go to Bi-Mart to buy a spotlight for my motion-sensor light over the driveway. I’ll go across the street to Safeway after to buy some bread that Wifey says is on sale. It’s not in the ad, so we’ll see. I’m sure I’ll be able to find something to buy.
I filled and emptied the shredder 3 times yesterday with stuff from upstairs. I could do some more of that I suppose.
Beast stew for dinner tonight. Fred’s had a 2 fer 1 sale on chuck roasts so I bought 2 yesterday. Works out to ~ $3.50/lb, which is pretty good for around here. Half of one of them will get chopped up for stew tonight.
I had a little fever this morning. Advil conquered it. I go to see the Surgeon tomorrow. I’m positive he’ll order an IV before I leave. I’m ok with that. It really helped last time.
I told Mr.Wrekker to find his own supper.
Y’all have a nice Tuesday evening.
