I want to go to the gym. I need to go to the gym. But it’s raining buckets here and the wind is blowing. That means I’ll be drenched in the half-mile it takes to get there. I guess I could pack dry clothes to change into when I get there, but I only have one pair of sneaks. Yes, I’m being a wuss.
I keep getting these warnings about heavy snow next week–my apt. complex office, some friends, and the local paper-- whereas I’m seeing forecasts for just a little snow and a cold front. Maybe the weather is different over my apartment.
Actually, both, as well as Boston, Portland, and Bar Harbor. We did this cruise in 2017 and I really enjoyed it. Plus it’s out of Baltimore, so no real traveling to the ship. And if my sister that lives near BWI is available, I should be able to leave my car at her place and she’ll take us to the ship. That’ll save $15/day in parking fees!
Speaking of parking, I booked a spot for our May cruise. We’re going out of Cape Liberty, NJ, and parking at the cruise terminal is $25/day! But at a nearby site (with free shuttles) it’s just over $14/day with taxes. So that’s reserved. Wow - 2 cruises in one year! Go us!!
I delivered Roxy to her mom and ran by the grocery store. Now I need to find a chili recipe. I don’t eat the stuff, but I’m going to make a batch for FCD. I’m so nice to him, dammit! <insert halo here>
moommm thank you for the okay on Kiko’s antibiotic.
Don’t wanna neglect the guy. Do to my weakness, the cats didn’t get breakfast until 1pm. And they are such great cats. They never bitch. All my other cats bitched. “Feed me”!
Gracias SSR. Kiko is maybe seven years old. I don’t know exactly. He was a street dog before he chose me. And is getting challenged on the role of “King of the neighborhood”. One day he may have to give it up. And it will be difficult for him. Might need therapy to get through it.
Well, gotta get to the corner store before he closes for siesta.
So as I said, it’s going to get cold soon. Last year, well after the cold snap, I found a dead hummingbird in the deck roof’s (no catio’s) crossbeam. I don’t know if it starved (I did thaw the feeder every day), or if it froze to death. I’m guessing that since I found it in a corner, that it was trying to keep warm.
Later today, or perhaps tomorrow, I’m going to put a clamping, flexible desk lamp under the roof near the feeder. It has a 60w incandescent bulb in it, so it should keep the corner somewhat warm. Just in case a hummingbird needs a place to shelter from the cold.
metal mouse, I’ve been looking at American Furniture, Haverty’s, D.T. McCall’s and a few others. I’m beginning to believe that an assemble it yourself mail order one might fit the bill. Brick and morter stores tend not to keep smaller furniture (like the stuff in scale with a small home or apartment) on the floor and have to order it for you anyway. Personally, I like to examine the furniture to check for comfort and quality.
moon unit, how big of a dog is Kiko?
I shopped for the table/chairs but didn’t find anything in stock that was 36" or smaller. I picked up some groceries and came home. Since I was veggie negligent for breakfast and lunch, I made a quick pan of soup from a handful of green beans, about 4 oz. of a 10 oz. package of spinach and some veggie broth in the freezer, a handful of small pasta and did the aig drop thing with it after seasoning it up Asian style. A lonesome corn muffin (also from the freezer) and a hunk of smoked gouda to go with. Tis good.
We went to CB for supper. Roxy was so very polite - thanking the server every time she stopped at the table! And saying hi to passers-by, and saying goodbye to a couple of ladies who were leaving.
That kid’s a trip!
I’s tahred - I need to sleep with Mel tonight. I need to sleep!
I’d get along with Roxy just fine, FCM…I tend to grin and wave at the little ones when I go out to eat and on occasion can be enticed into a game of ‘peek-a-boo’ over my menu.
They cancelled soccer for tomorrow due to the impending weather, it’s still clear here in N. Ali-bama but supposed to get nasty about noon tomorrow. We’ll see.
flyboy, you’re a credit to your Mumper name. Hope it works out.
Got two calls today from a recorded voice saying I had a $200 credit with Amazon and I needed to call them to get it refunded. Nothing on my accounts shows it, so I’m taking it as a scam and ignoring it.
Big Bowl O’sallit consumed for dinner, so internettin’ is my primary action.
hey all im alive …waiting for the end of Xmas …as we haven’t taken all the house decorations down yet … that’s normally a 2 or 3 day process … normally its down after the 5th but nephew gets 3 weeks off for Xmas
its usually the week before the week of fand the week after well this year school board decided it was the week of and the two weeks after and since hes not much help in such things and the house gets stripped to the bare walls aunt waited until probably tomorrow …
On the cousin’s front … well, let’s just say I’m thinking of filing a restraining order of sorts concerning her so she won’t even to be able to acknowledge my existence she can come and go since I live with her mother but she cant say anything to me or about me … but shes barely living here and things are gonna come to a reckoning very soon and a lot of it doesn’t have to do with me … hope everyone gets better tho and glad its missed me for once
You never know. I’ve been in Western PA now for almost 50 years and I’ve seen the weather totally change in a matter of feet. I don’t want to count the number of times one side of our street has been flooded with rain while the other is perfectly dry or how often I’ve driven down 79 to 80 in a white-out just to have blue skies and Unicorns as soon as I pass under 80. Its to the point where no-one much notices or thinks it unusual anymore.
Everywhere I’ve ever lived has had weather lines. When I lived ~32 miles northeast of here and drove her to irk, there was one about midpoint. You could be driving in relative nice weather before getting to the Gladeville exit, then WHAM! you were in stormy weather or vice versa. Up in Indiana, about six miles west of where I worked on US 6, there was a weather line that meant the difference between just regular Midwest weather and lake effects snow country. There have been others too.
Weather lines I expect and understand but here ------- lets just say they are different. In the flatlands I have sometimes seen columns of rain falling in the distance but around here I have had them follow me down the street for miles. It is an odd feeling to be driving with your wipers on and see sunshine just off your hood for 10 miles; or be in the sun with the guy two cars back running his wipers for 10 miles. And remember how hilly we are; things like that just aren’t supposed to be.
The other thing here is that some are predictable and some aren’t. 80 and snow is a safe bet most times; same with Ebensburg. But many happen once every couple years - or decades. But they will recur. Kitty-corner across the state and nothing like this; its either carved in Queen Esters Rock or it just don’t happen. But this corner -------- <German accent> very interesting; but stupid.
Morning all. Woke up about 6:30am to what sounded like a big "Crack, checked the house and nothing wrong, raining outside but no thunder, so it’ll go down as another unsolved mystery. Either way, just as well I got up, had a disturbing dream that I had been arrested in Kenya and held under house arrest for 4-5 years. Since I have been to Kneya once in my life and had a pleasant experience there, have no idea where that dream came from.
The weather line I remember is the ‘snow line’ around Cleveland. Live west of it, and you might get 4-5" of snow during a storm; live east of it and you’d get 20-30".
flyboy, just read about your soup. If extra spicy, your sniffles didn’t dry up, they were incinerated…
shady, hope all works out with cousin in that she gets out of your life, which sounds like the best option.
Lemme try this again - stoopit board went down just as I hit post…
Mel let me down - zonked me out, but I still kept waking all night. Dammit.
But no big plans other than running a few shopping errands. It was weird waking to temps about 20° higher than when I went to bed, and we’re promised close to 70° this afternoon! Weird.
The street is closed and decorated with banners. So, they got plans. I asked the police lady what was up, and she didn’t know. But, it is all about food.
Yesterday was a “do little” day. Had a lot to do was was lacking with energy. Just handled crisis’. Worked the compost pile because the kitchen collector was full and attracting flies.
Today, I hope to tackle more objectives.
red, Kiko is a medium size doggie. Twenty kilos. Normally an outside dog, but has been sleeping inside at night. To ease his trauma.
Morning all! At least all who decided to work around the certificate thingy. Neither of us feels like cooking right now so a Saturday trip to our favorite dive diner sounds in order. I’m stalling slightly because I feel more like lunch than breakfast. I am wearing my Brad Johnson shirt to bring “my team” some luck. I checked the chicken entrails at the pre-game sacrifice and they told me the only other quarterback to throw himself a touchdown pass was pledged to the Dark One so Brad has the luck. And I think the Vikings are going to need the juju of a LOT of luck. My prediction is one of two things – a nail-biter like last week or they never get into the game at all; one extreme or the other.
metal mouse, we’re getting high winds (with tornado watches / warnings) too. I lost a good sized branch from the oak in front of my apartment door. I moved the branch from the sidewalk (my next door neighbor uses a walker and takes this walkway to his car), swept up the twigs and brought the patio umbrella inside for the duration.
moon unit, at least Kiko isn’t an itty bitty dog who thinks he’s a big dog. doggio, I’ve been getting the security warning too.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels in the wash and the puppy crate cleaned (IOW, the usual Saturday morning). Once KP is done, I’ll begin the next load of laundry and kick back in the studio. Other than fixing supper, prepping irk breakfasts/lunches and prepping some stuffed shells for tomorrow’s potluck (it will go in the oven while I’m in the shower). Nice, lazy day.
