the dickens was wrong so bah humbug mmp

Yes – I am that sad. And I need to log out shortly to go get my new/old computer.

I drove thirty miles to Lawrence today, to go to one store, World Market. My mom loves a brand of crisp ginger cookies they sell at Christmas, but we couldn’t get there before the date. I called and they still had a few left. It may seem silly, sixty mile round trip for cookies, but anything for my mom. She couldn’t come(we’d planned to go together) as she had a migraine.

I’m getting worried about those, they are coming for her almost once a week now.:frowning:

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but my daughter’s New Beetle stated in the owner’s manual that to change the headlights, you needed to take it to the dealer. For headlights??? Right.

Thru the magic of Google, I found illustrated instructions which I printed off and gave to her. Saved her a small fortune, it did.

Same for my FIL’s car - he had to have a specific filter changed and it was several hundred bucks at the dealer. **FCD **went on line, found step-by-step instructions, and his did bought the filter for $20 and fixed it himself.

All hail Intertoobs!!

I only have one set (in the original box).

Daughter, etc, left Ocala around 5:30 this evening. They could be back here as early as 7 tomorrow morning. So we have just about 12 hours of solitude left.

And nostalgia is probably your reason too, right?
This is being sent from my new (kinda - NOS) Air. Where do you head first when trying any new web-tech? Why the MMP of course! So far I like but I will need to find a download for Google Chrome and I wouldn’t mind finding a NeoOffice as well.

Irked, knocked off, grocery shopped and took Nelson to the dog park. The maintenance guy at the complex (the mastiff two doors down’s human) asked me what went on last night. When I told him, he promised to say something to the manager about it. The lab mix who jumped Nelson has tried to mess with his dog too (his dog is intimidated by Nelson, so, even though he’s a whopping 120 pounds, he gets scared easily). I hope that the lab mix can get more attention and supervision in the future.

Same for replacing batteries in smart phones, Kindle readers, etc. This website is very helpful.

Well, I’m back. Missed breaking the 6hr drive-time by 5 minutes, due to Nashville traffic and my usual rest stop (which I don’t count as part of the drive time). Been warming the house back up and catching up on the internettin’. About 64F today, now down to 56F and rain likely for Sunday.

Brother and Sis-in-law are going cruising in January, they got a good deal on Holland America out of Ft. Lauderdale. Hope they enjoy it, I’m a major cruise fan. Only thing is that they plan to drive the 1,200 miles in 2 days, which is doable, but I don’t think they’ve done that long a trip in awhile so I’ll worry about them until I hear they’re ok.

red, glad nelson is Ok, hope the other dog gets better care…having put up with a 70lb bloodhound ‘puppy’ this week, I know that you have to put the time and energy in to training a dog.

Glad you had a good trip, FCM. Hope the kids do as well.

Cupcakes, you is a good daughter.

All y’all take care now.

Oh, I fully intend to play with them. Only… there’s no one to play with. My lawn darts, my Frisbees, my Trak-Ball (if I can find them), my Kubb set… All languishing. :frowning:

Still got the problem, but no blood this time, so good.

Purolator never came. I eventually gave up waiting and went out to get food.

My daughter and her husband are here but leave tomorrow. I’ll miss them. Fun and sweet people, they are. We drove to the coast today and walked on the beach.

I got a text from management saying I violated section 9 (c) of the lease by putting a welcome sign in my window for the kids’ visit. It’s a family tradition. I’ve done it several times before without them commenting. I took it down, but I’m miffed. We’re not supposed to have curtains showing, either. Now one of my neighbors is playing some game with the bass booming. Last night it was the guys upstairs. I don’t think I’m cut out for apartment living after all. Ugh. No options, though.

FCM, I shall forevermore see Oxyclean as Roxyclean.

WTF?!

Find if you have a local MeetUp-like organization. I’ve been in a couple around here and Santarchy is partly sponsored/supported by one. Gives you a chance to get in some frisbee, kite flying, shooting off model rockets – lots of fun stuff. AYH was also good for stuff like that in addition to hiking and all.

Seconded.

Daughter, etc, made it to the SC state line in 4 hours! I would guess one or both of them are lead-footed. Just hope they don’t get a ticket.

Wonder if I’ll wake before they get here??

We shall see.

nellie, no curtains showing? Like coach and ruble, WTF?

nelliebly, I have similar rules in my apartment.

Oh, it’s a stupid policy. There are horizontal blinds on the windows, but they’re cheap and don’t block much sunlight. And it looks so cold to only have blinds on the windows. I read the lease before signing, but somehow that part didn’t register. Anyway, I put up drapes in my bedroom and got a warning letter. So I put up curtains and tied them back so that with the blinds partway down, you can’t see them from the outside.

I asked about the reason for the drapes policy, and they said it was for “consistency of appearance.”

We had friends living in an HOA neighborhood that did that whole “consistency of appearance” thing - like the only thing visible from the street could be white shades or blinds and all windows facing the street needed to have their blinds at the same level. Another friend wrote an “addition” to the HOA rules stating all ceiling fans must rotate counter-clockwise at XX RPM as visible from the street.

Honestly, I don’t understand why anyone lives in such places willingly.

Anyway, the intrepid travelers are home - they made the trek in just over 12 hours with minimal stops and probably a few extra MPH on the speedometer. Everyone in the household is asleep except for me and Taz. I just finished emptying the dishwasher and having some toast. Caffeination is underway. I told my daughter if Roxy wakes before them, I’ll tend to her. So until she wakes, I’ve got time to kill.

I’m hoping to clear up some more leaves in the yard today. It’s supposed to be mild with breaks in the clouds, and it’s probably my last chance before spring. I also need to run to the store, since I didn’t bother yesterday. And I don’t know what else - we’ll see what the day brings.

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 71 and maybe rain this afternoon. Or not. TWPTB are bein’ willy-nilly about this. We shall make a trip to Sam’s this mornin’ for some stuff. I shall also order a cake for OYKW’s birthday/retirement while there. What? They make good cakes. We shall celebrate as a part of NYD festivities. His bday will be Thursday, but we shall celebrate whilst we have a crowd assembled. He also wants a bday sup of waffles and snausages, so it shall be on his actual bday. We will also swing by the church house to haul in trash cans since we will be somewhat nearish. N.O.L. shall also be accomplished while out and about.

CupCakes good on you for gettin’ your mom’s cookies. Hope she’s feelin’ better.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!
