THE DOPER LIST: Who has 1000, 3000, 7000+ Posts?

Every now and then somebody asks if there is a list of the most productive Dopers and their post counts. The answer is invariably… well, I honestly don’t remember the invariable answer, but I don’t remember ever seeing a list. So I thought I’d make one because I’m a dorky, number-crunching, anal kind of guy and I was curious.

I searched through the biggest current threads in all of the fora and picked out the names of all the Dopers with over 1000 posts. That was no mean feat, let me tell you. I normally hang around GQ and The Pit. Frankly, GD frightens me. And I’ve no idea how I’m going to get rid of all these pink fuzzy bunnies after digging around in MPSIMS.

So here’s my list, broken down into Dopers with over 1000 posts, over 2000, over 3000, etc. as of Friday, 19 October 2001. I didn’t include people banned as of that date. I didn’t record exact post counts because it was too much work and they would be outdated before this list was posted anyway.

Personally, I was shocked at the huge number of very dedicated people we have here. 253 people have more than 1000 posts on the SDMB! It speaks volumes for the popularity of this message board and of the value that so many people place on this community. I apologise in advance to whoever I’ve missed and to whoever by now has broken another thousand threshold and is in a higher group. There are also scores of Dopers who have almost reached 1000 posts. Please post any corrections here.

Handy

tomndebb is conspicuously lacking in the 5000 and over category. If I screwed up and missed it, I’m sorry.

You said

I hope to see you publish in the near future a list of the most productive posters. :frowning:

I had over 1000 before I changed my name.
Anyboby remember tennhippie?

For me, a high post number is nothing to be proud of.
I only post when:
(a) I’m avoiding responsibility
(b) I can’t sleep and have nothing better to do
© I’m feeding my ego by pretending that my opinion might matter to someone other than myself

YMMV.

Anyboby ever hit Submit when they meant to hit Preview?

Guess I don’t have enough productive posts.

[sup]I think I’ll go to bed and cry myself to sleep Boo hoo hoo[/sup]

An unfortunate choice of words, I fear. I think you meant “prolific”.

It’s a question of perspective, maybe?

Yet another doper who slipped under the cracks…sigh…

Damn you, labradorian!

I just looked in my M-W 13th and they give for the first meaning of productive “Having the quality or power of producing esp. in abundance.”

But, hey! This is MPSIMS. So who’s counting?

You forgot me. 1535 or thereabouts as of this message.

Yes, but the common parlance of “productive” is in using it in two different ways - to mean “meaningful or worthwhile” (as in “Are you going to do anything productive today, or just sit there tossing off to dirty magazines?”), as well as “producing in abundance” (as in “My, that was a very productive orgasm.”). Prolific is less ambiguous in the common parlance. That was my only point.

Una I understood your point. Your understanding of the word and mine are in parallel. Someone needs to e-mail MW and cuss 'em out.

I’m over a thousand as well.

I remeber a time when i could almost list everyone over 1000 off the top of my head! (of course, my post count was around 250 then)

Oh, and I should have added–thanks for taking hte time to do this–I’ve been a bit curious.

I’m kind of amazed that most of the busiest names are completely unfamiliar to me. It’s like there’s a second parallel Board. Of course, there are a couple of forums I seldom read, like staff reports and great debates, but I can’t think that accounts for all of it. I feel certain I have never seen any of these names before:

Productive… yeah, that should have been prolific. Poor choice of words. And damn it, I didn’t want to start that argument. It’s not my intention for this list to be a comment on the relative value of various Dopers. You’d have to be a fool to think that simply having a high post count makes someone more worthwhile here. We all know it’s quality, not quantity that counts. It’s cliche, but it’s true.

But I do find it interesting that many people are very prolific here. I wanted to know how many, and how prolific. I’m sure others are interested too. What does it mean? I dunno. Just MPSIMS, that’s all. Call it the Mother of all Post Parties if you like.
I’m truly sorry about missing tomndebb, casdave, Odieman, rastahomie, Manda JO and everyone else I missed. I have no excuse. I spent about 6 hours on Friday ploughing through a few dozen of the longest current threads in each of the fora. I thought I’d catch the vast majority that way. I was aware that I’d probably miss a few people, but I did my best. No offense intended.

When I see how few peers I have at 3000+, I feel like someone just smacked me upside the head with a sledgehammer and screamed “GET A LIFE!” in my ear.

I can only hope that you missed another 100 or so who are as --uh, what is the word we’re going with?–prolific? as myself.

Clearly, my friend, you have not been paying attention.

Or maybe you just don’t read Dopefest threads, or sex threads, or flirt threads, or…uh, never mind. I’m going now.

Yeah Cranky, my group of 5000+ posters was pretty small, too. I can honestly say, though, that the others in my group are productive. I’m just prolific.

I am, apparently, yet another Invisible Poster. But that’s okay – it’s a task (counting the prolifics) that I wouldn’t want to face, so errors don’t bug me. 1000+ signing in.
