The election is over, so drop it!

I’d just like to say that now, thanks to waterj2, I will always pronounce gorewonfla’s username as Go Roo On Flaw.

And people say that talk doesn’t change things.

And whether or not the Enterprise could be beaten depends not on any analysis of capabilities, but entirely on whether or not the deus ex machina module can be destroyed before activation.

'Fraid not. In the news biz, per the Associated Press style book, the correct abbreviation for “Florida” in all datelines and references is “Fla.”

I kindof think gorilla wun flu when I see that username. But I’m weird that way

I’m not a Democrat or a Republican (or one of the omnipresent internet libertarians) but I’ll offer a deal.

I’ll not mention the 2000 elections again if the Republicans will SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT CLINTON. He’s not president anymore. You people pissed and moaned about him for eight years - eight years that the so-called elite party whined like little schoolkids about Clinton. And now it’s over, he’s not the president, and they STILL won’t shut up about him. You think you’re sick of hearing about Florida? We’re all sick of your non-stop Clinton tirade.

Let’s all agree to give it a rest.

WHAT??? Are you friggin nuts? No way!!! Captain Picard would kick Darth Vader’s ASS!

Anyways, folks the election is over. Bush is President. Get over it!

(FTR: I feel I should tell you that I am a Republican… but I don’t like Bush! However, if Gore had won [sup]shudder[/sup] I would still be here saying the same thing. IE: GET OVER IT! Let’s move on!)

Hehe, I got the “gore won fla” part, but my brain homonymized it to “Gore one-flaw”. I always get this strange Far-side type cartoon in my head of two Native-Americans flirting in a bar. There is a big-strong-great-looking guy with a ear in the middle of his forehead. The caption is the chick saying “So, how did you get the name one-flaw?”

Too much Gary Larson at a young age will scar you for life.

Gore! Gore! Gore!

ECW! ECW! ECW!
oh… this isn’t about wrestling??

nevermind…

I think it’s also worth considering that your user name says something about you, for better and for worse. GOREWONFLA may be the most brilliant poster since the Great Cecil Himself but I wouldn’t know 'cause I never read a thing he (he?) posts.* The handle tells me all I think I need to know (obsessive; can’t let things go; a one-note song). Sing on, my good man; just realize that no one is obliged to listen, and fewer and fewer people actually are.

P.S. I feel the same way about people with excessively immature, intentionally distasteful names. Why would I want to make the acquaintence of a fecal nugget?

All this has me thinking that I should have chosen soxwon86worldseries as my user name.

That poem was quoted in Morris Udall’s Too Funny To Be President, but no attribution was given. As with most of his funny stories, it was just “there was this one politician…”

My attitude about people still whining about the election is the same I attitude I have towards my wife’s ex-boyfriend.

The dipshit was calling and writing letters, even had the nerve to show up at my house a week before the wedding.

I read his letters and he would just complain how they’d been going out for three years, and he thought everything was allright, and how there was no way she could know me as well as him, and no way I cared for her as much as he did.

It wasn’t fair, and he deserved another chance and if she’d just give him one she’d see that I was all wrong for her.

He’d write how I’d roped her and brainwashed her, and everything but basically kidnapped her and that I had ruined everything (which I guess I did.)

When he came to our house he made that whole big speech to me after my wife told him to get lost and went upstairs.

I stood in the driveway and listened to this shit for ten minutes. When he was done, he stood there shaking, wondering what came next.

I lit up a cigarette, blew smoke at him and said.
“So what?”

You really shouldn’t smoke, Scylla. Bad not only for you, but for your little girl too. It increases the risk of her having asthma, and she is statistically likely to come down with more respiratory infections. This is true even if you do not smoke in your house or in her presence. Just thought you’d want to know.

Otherwise, a great response!

BTW Scylla I was just being nitpicky, I wasn’t really trying to rag on ya. I was trying to illustrate the point of people agreeing with most of what’s written, but then harping on a tiny detail. I think I’m probably wallowing too much in my own crepulence again. Sorry.

Quadgop:

When my wife got pregnant I promised her that our daughter wouldn’t be exposed to smoking. I quit when she was 3 months pregnant (and I’m still addicted to this Nicorette though I haven’t smoked since.)

I wanted to keep my promise, and I also wanted to be around to watch my daughter grow up.

But back then I smoked.

Excellent. Truly. and thanks, too Q re: info “just 'cause you don’t smoke in the house” - my son’s dad has smoked off and on his whole life (Fortunately my son resides with me, so his exposure to smoking has been limited to at most every other w/e while dad’s smoking).
On the OP. There’s whole threads I don’t bother with, some posters I routinely ignore just 'cause their posts make my eyes bleed. And, more to the point, since I wouldn’t bother reading/posting to them, why would I bother starting a pit thread about it?

Re: user names - hell that doesn’t even come up on the screen for me. The only thing I care about re: a user name - ‘is it easy for me to spell?’. (hence the reference to “Q” above - sorry). I like short, easy to spell, easy to remember names - like my own for example. I’ll agree with Jodi re: some of those that seem to be coined by, well, shall we suggest, folks looking to shock? I was a strong participant in the GDs about the election, and I also agree that the name ‘gorewonfla’ does impart prefabbed opinions on the user. Apparently he doesn’t mind and seems to relish that. To each their own.

OK, this is not a new username for me, gorewonfla. Because two people used this name, myself and my father, I took a new one while my dad, who almost never touches the great debates, will retain gorewonfla.

Uh, so you’re going to let your father take the heat for your posts to date? Hope they were all keepers.

I’ll respond to all my posts, he’ll respond to all his. Simple as that.

When I read Anthracite, I think of Lesbian Vampires…It has something to do with coal too?..Cool…

As for letting the whole election thing drop, not a chance in hell. Those who forget the past and all that…
