The emergency MMP

Funk is still with me. I did manage to get a pair of black shoes (and 4 blouses and a sweater), but what I NEEDED was a pair of brown shoes. I went to 3 stores and then gave up. I don’t like shoe shopping. There was a time when I did indeed love it, but that was before orthotics and bone spurs. Now I must get shoes that accommodate the orthotics and that I can walk briskly in (downtown, often running to catch a bus or train).

I’ve never been a fan of high heels, but I’m no Croc girl either. It’s more a shoe quest than shopping. Add to it that I need to try every shoe on (high arches and orthotics again), and you can see why this does not come under Fun for me.

But the sweater is really nice–more of a jacket, in a soft turquoise and black and gray knobbly knit (boucle? is that a word? is that the word I want? I dunno). Anyway, it will go nicely with my dark gray or black slacks, and my (new) muted turquoise blouse or my (old) black mock turtleneck etc. I also got a black and white pin stripe blouse and a black and camel pin striped blouse.

There’s my shopping in all its minutiae. Off to bed soon. It’s raining like hell here and snow flurries are expected for turkey day. Gah!

My iPod Nano is full. :frowning: And now I must make the Choice: what to delete. Why is life so hard? :eek: :slight_smile:

Lord, Pie–sorry to hear about your dad. Hope he’s better soon.

No news on the dad front.

It’s been an interesting and weird evening, though. I think I’ll head off to bed. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be more rested and on my way to becoming a better, healthier, happier version of me. We need some peace around this place.

I survived work. Round two tomorrow, at least my store is closed on turkey day.

Mork, been there, done that.

Skimmed, busy day. I left home at 6:20 this morning. I just got back a few minutes ago. Complicated Friend is in town, so I took this afternoon to go hang out with him. We went around town to my haunts–the really good Jamaican place, Moody Friend’s work, my apartment, my work, Irish Brother’s work, then we all went to see Inglorious Basterds at the Brew-n-View down the street. I liked it very much. I also ate way too much today. Now I must achieve unconsciousness because I have to go to the grocery, do laundry, and work the evening shift tomorrow.

Morning all. Hugs to all (others) who need them. Yesterday was the day from hell. I spent the hours of 3am to 5am running twixt toilet and bed, trying to sleep alternated with severe abdominal cramps brought on by the laxatives I had to take to clear my system out for the MRI. Once that was done, I snatched another hour of sleep before HRH decided it was time for me to wake up. After breakfast and coffee, I rushed off to the horsepistol to spend three (yes, count them - 1, 2, 3) hours in a slightly overgrown cigar tube, fighting off waves of panic thanks to heretofore undiagnosed claustrophobia. I think anyone would start to feel dizzy and sick after spending 45 minutes at a time with the walls just 2 inches away from your face! Blergh!!! Once I was done with the live burial simulation, I then got to sit around for nearly two hours to wait for them to prepare the CD of images to take home for posterity!

The only bright spot in my day was receiving a HUGE bouquet of flowers from work. And when I say HUGE, I mean ENORMOUS.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

Dotty I hear ya! I hate the MRI. I’ve had one in my life and swore then I’d never have another one. Of course, if I needed one I suppose I would. It’s just so closed in, loud and obnoxious though.

Herbs it’s ok to put off the potato salad until tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is another day. :smiley: Oh wait, that would be today now, so you can’t put it off. So, young lady, march right in that kitchen and make that potato salad! It’s not going to make itself you know! The sooner you get started the sooner you finish. Don’t give me that look! You want your face to freeze like that? Now, get in there and get that potato salad made, young lady and not another peep out of you until it’s done.

That was just in case you need motivation.

Now, it’s time to forage for brekkie, intake more caffiene and purtify for work.

Happy Wednesday Y’all!

Happy Wednesday, mumpers! It is beerverage day today, and I have a plan to make spagbol for dinner tonight since it’s my turn to cook and I hadn’t actually planned anything else.

Today’s work-related joyousness will involve going to the Medical School and hunting down a statistician who has a pile of MCQ answer sheets, of which I need 450. He will give them to me. Oh yes, he will, indeed.

mmmmmmmmms, did you have a good weekend, by any chance? I remember when me and 'im indoors had weekends like that, but it was a Very Long Time Ago.

I may have to go shoe-shopping to compensate!

Hello everybody.

I just realized it’s Wednesday noon and I haven’t posted this week! :eek: That’s what happens when you’re busy enough not to be bored at work :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway – Continued get-well wishes to PieDad, fingers crossed for Dotty, hugs for all others who need them…

**Nooner **killed the thread. Neener neener neener.

Holiday eve blurfage to y’all. I’s caffienated and brekkified.

Is it odd to point out that I had 2 turkeys in the shower last night? No, Swampy, it wasn’t me and SWMBO… They went from the freezer to the outside fridge on Saturday to thaw, and they were still solid yesterday. So, I took the buckets I have to brine them, put the turkeys in each, and filled them with cold water to rush thaw them overnight. Back to the outside fridge this morning, and I have to get them brining before I go to bambilance duty tonight.

One is for us, and the other is for Neighbor Fred.

Yup. Good think you know CPR! :wink:

Blergh! I have to go back for ANOTHER MRI tomorrow - hospital called to say they want some more images from another angle. Cigar tube, here I come (again)!

:dubious:

An MRI images in very thin cross-sectional slices, and can paste them together for a 3-d rendering, giving them all the angles a radiologist could want. I’ve got a dollar that says they messed up the first one instead.

I still hope your mommy parts are fine. {{{{{}}}}}

I’ll see your dollar and raise you another $450 that they won’t admit to screwing up the first one and will definitely charge me for this “other angle”! Thank Og I have health insurance, but so far none of these diagnostic tests or my gynae have a direct billing agreement with the insurer, so I am currently about US$3000 out of pocket until my insurance company reimburses me!

{{{Dotty}}}
My pies turned out pretty well. On to the cheesecake!

{{Dotty}} Pretty flowers, though!

Glad you figured out the pie recipe, Pie!

Looks like a lot of fun, rosie!

Have a great trip, Muppet!

Change of plans for us - my FIL apparently has H1N1. Not diagnosed but fever + other symptoms = flu and the only flu going around right now is H1N1. So they’re not coming. :frowning: So I think we’re going to get together with a friend instead. I’m just waiting to hear from KT as to whether he’s ok with packing up the turkey to go 'cause friend wants to stay at her house.

So… since I don’t have to get ready for company, I’m working 1/2 a day instead. No point in taking vacation time. I wouldn’t know how to keep myself busy for 5 days without company coming or somewhere to go anyway! So now I’m just trying to figure out how to stay busy until noon. Yippee.

More hugs and good result vibes to you Dotty.

Bleh, I really don’t want to be here at work. I have tons of stuff to do, but absolutely no motivation. In fact, I should be pushing out a couple of reports right now, but here I sit, typing this.

I am hoping that no one comes to me with any HOT!HOT!HOT!MUSTDONOW! projects today. I’m so tired of having to tell previous requestors that I haven’t even got to start their data calls. Had an email today asking about one in particular, and had to tell the requestors that I hadn’t gotten to it due to other higher priority projects.

I wish to hell they’d hurry up and hire for the other two analyst positions.:frowning:

Sigh, I better knuckle down and start my work.

{{{Dotty}}}

I had an excellent weekend …and Monday and Tuesday and it is now Wednesday ;):D:D:D

Hubby headed to work and I am off to get a haircut and pedicure and then pack as we are off to Vegas for a few days.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Playing hooky from work today due to this cold, which has finally progressed into something resembling more of a traditional flavour of rhinovirus. I couldn’t sleep in though because they’re doing some sort of work in the underground parking garage that involves multiple jackhammers, the vibrations from which reverberate around the entire damn building. It’s not nearly as pronounced up here on the 6th floor than it is on lower floors (and I feel sorry for the folks on the ground floor where it’s absolutely deafening) but it’s not muted enough to sleep through.

Going to stuff myself with some Tylenol and Nyquil.

[/QUOTE]

They better not! If they do, tell them to learn how to use Osirix. I’ve got the MRI data from my back scans, and I can rotate my vertebrae any which way.

Maybe they just liked your pics so much they want more, Dotty, in which case you should charge them. Models do get paid, you know.
