The emergency MMP

We are. Which is why we’re having Bratz as a side-dish and chasing it all down with some Barney Pie.

Thanksgiving dinner is now sitting in bags in the fridge and on the counter, ready to be grabbed as I run out the door tomorrow. I’m making SpazFamily’s Traditional Manicotti with Lots and Lots of Cheese Because Spaz Likes Ricotta, a 5-cup salad for dessert, and bagged mixed greens salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing for vegetables.

I don’t wanna go to work today.

Whee! We got off 3 hours early today, so I’m home and fixing that potato salad now. Yes, Swampy, now, because I don’t peel potatoes before dawn … at least not when I have to go to work that day! LOL

Continuing to keep you in my thoughts and prayers, Dotty–I believe I’d have the cigar tube feeling inside of that thing too, btw.

Sweet potatoes are baked and ready for casserole too; tomorrow morning I’ll make the green bean casserole, put together the dressing and cook the bird. Oh boy! I lurves me some turkey and will make some turkey tetrazinni this weekend.

Happy Turkey Day to all y’all who are having it

ruble, I think you ought’a have some preventive Tums with them Bratz, just sayin’

MMMMMMM… Bratz cooked in beer with hot mustard! My kind of eatin’ Ruble!

So, got that N.O.T. salad made yet Herbs?:dubious: Don’t make me come in there!

Speakin’ of stuff, I need to get busy on dressin’ soon. Cornbread is already made and I have chicken and broth ready. Need to chop up celery and onions, mix everything up and let it set overnight. Bakin’ gets done tomorrow.

This weekend is THE PARTY. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before. The annual Saturday after Thanksgiving get together out in the country where I grew up. People show up with their favorite beverages (adult and nonadult types), bring munchie stuff, build a bonfire and hang out. There will probably be around two hundred people throughout the course of the evening. This is the 30th annual one and I have attend all of 'em. I’ve answered a bunch of emails from old friends to ensure that I will be there. Lest people forget where it is, there’s always a sign out at the road that says THE PARTY. It’s down a steep driveway several hundred feet off the road. Fun Time!

Ok, now I go get busy.

Urgh. Last night was No Good. Managed playgroup and the midwives’ and a short nap.

Do I want to do all the chopping tonight, and make hash, or make everyone settle for mac’n’cheese?

Turkey Day dinner will be with our former neighbors, at their new house. No idea what’s on the menu other than pie, and that’s because they said to bring pie, when we asked what we could bring.

They seem like regular turkey, mashed potatos (They have no idea who **Taters **is) green bean casserole and pumpkin pie people, so it should be a safe dinner.

Before dinner, I’ll be working and doing the Happy Happy Double Double Time dance. Not like there’s anything else to do here.

Ok, dressin’ all made and ready to be cooked. Go me.

LiLi I’m tired from choppin’ so I say mac & cheese.

I misunderstood earlier and thought that my dad wouldn’t need a defibrillator. He might not need one, but they’re not sure yet. He’ll find out the results tomorrow. I’m hoping that if he doesn’t need it that he’ll be able to come home later in the day.

Earlier we prepped the crust and the filling for the cheesecake. I just finished burning the crust and my finger. So now a new crust is in the oven at a much lower temperature and for a shorter amount of time. :dubious:

Official results tomorrow but he probably doesn’t need a defibrillator. And his blood level has gone up again, so that’s good news!

The pies are done, the sauce for the cheesecake is done, and the cheesecake [del]will be in the oven for just another couple minutes.[/del] The timer went off as I was typing this and the cheesecake is out of the oven and smells wonderful.

it’s beer o’clock finally. Off tomorrow, as long as DM doesn’t forget that my store is closed tomorrow.

: slinks ninja like towards Pie’s cheesecake :

LiLI, mac n’ cheese.

{{{{{Dotty}}}}}

swampy, beer and fire? I envy you.

Taters, tell 'em to go to the new person, Helen Waite. If they want it done now, go to Helen Waite.

I’m glad the news about your Dad is getting better, Pie.

Ugh, just got off the phone with my mom. My ear hurts. Negative, negative, negative. She just wears me down. She found out we won’t be going to my sister’s for tomorrow and was trying to give me a hard time about it.

I cut her off…cold. I told her that we were spending the day here and were going to have a nice, hot T-day meal waiting for our daughter when she got off work. I also told her that our daughter is reaching the point where she’s going to have other holiday obligations and we’re going to make the most of the time we have left with her, and along with the fact hat we would never, never give our daughter a hard time about spending the holidays elsewhere. We understand fully that she may soon be spending time with her boyfriend’s family for holidays.

Finally, I pointed out to my mother that we have spent **every freakin’ holiday **with the entire family for the last 29 years and that I’m actually looking forward to having just a small gathering with my nuclear family tomorrow. She didn’t take that too well. Too bad. I’m glad my husband put his foot down, and by extension, I did too.

I think I’m going to veg for a bit.

I’v made a punkin’ pie, a pan of gingerbread, and a pan of cornbread for dressing. I’ve chopped celery an onions. I’ve consumed mass quantities of Beam, and am currently brining a big ol’ turkey.

We ate at Red Lobster from points off American Express, and i tipped our waiter $30 for a job well done, and excellent food! Y’all gotta try the Peach-Bourbon glazed Bacon-wrapped scallops. Oh. My. God. ::channeling Swampy:: Faaab-uuu-lous! [/cS]

Ok - i have a buzz, and I shoul dgo to bed, but I have to finish this drink forst.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, or an ordinary Thursday - your choice. :

Ugh. Just got some bad news about a former co-worker. He’s got H1N1 and it doesn’t look good. I (and several other people) are praying he pulls through. His life was on an upswing when this happened.

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all. Hugs all around.

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all! I am currently undergoing preparations for Live Burial Simulation MkII. Envy me! :stuck_out_tongue:

(((((Dotty))))) - don’t forget to ask them what they did wrong yesterday to mess up the first one!

Happy Turkey Day to those of you who are celebrating, and happy Thursday to the rest of us. I went out for beerverages last night, so it was a late night for me and a very early morning to follow it. I’m tired today and looking forward to a quiet one, but at least I don’t have anything planned for tonight so I can go home and enjoy the delights of menu-planning and shopping-list construction in preparation for next week. My life is just too exciting for words.

GOBBLE! GOBBLE! GOBBLE!

HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!

Or Happy Thursday for those not [del]makin’ pigs of themselves[/del] bein’ thankful for stuff.

Happy Turkey Day y’all who iz Amurkins!!

A very happy Thanksgiving Day to all who will celebrate!

I’m up and caffeinating, and will start my Turkey day preps very soon - pumpkin pie is first up on the agenda. The potato salad turned out great, although I think I made a bit too much (LOL), so the seasoning was off and it was a bit bland. I loves horseradish in my potato salad, so it needed a bit more punch. After the pumpkin pie, I’ll put together the green bean casserole, then make the dressing/stuffing before the turkey goes into the oven, probably around noon.

YUM!

Howdy everyone!

I’m just here biding my time until visiting hours start and I can head to the hospital. (And being on the lookout for ninja-cheesecake thieves.)

I think I might pack up the cheesecake and pie on some ice and take it with me. Then if I get to go to TVLand for dinner, I won’t have to stop back home after I leave the hospital.
