#1 son is boarding the plane! And my brother (the Uncle) again told me to ask #1 son about his new girlfriend–who lives in London. That’s all I know.
#1 son sounds exhausted but happy. Yay.

apparently my pyromaniac neighbors (my street and the one in back that was still celebratin’ at 4am) are at it again tonight. I hope they stop at a reasonable hour. I have actual stuff to do tomorrow and won’t be able to without sleep.
No, I am NOT watching paint dry, doggio!
I am looking at the laptop screen.
::smacks doggio with wet trout::
Yay for #1 son being on his way home! Glad he had a great time.
Hmmmm, like father, like son, huh, Bobbio?
I spent something like 6 hours in the garden, weeding, mulching, mowing, trimming one of my evergreens, expanding the tree-lawn area that I’m going to plant, and digging up redbuds and coneflowers for transplanting. The weather was perfect. I’m going to get up early and do a bit more, I think. It’s supposed to get up to 86 tomorrow, so I’m thinking early morning might be the only part of the day that’s tolerable. After that there will be church, laundry and then sanding, cleaning, and - if I’m lucky - painting. Also, need to make it back to Home Depot to get housepaint and yard waste bags.
For now, I’m exhausted and ready to crawl into bed…
Hugs to anyone I missed.
GT
So you’re checking out your new “paint drying” screen saver then? d&r
I’m a very bad girl, terribly self indulgent… hangs head, scuffs foot in dust See, I went out this morning to run the car with the new generator in it, in the interest of R&D and all, listening to the new 60W 3" speakers in the front and the 5" rounds in the back that were scavenged out of a car of my daughter’s that died here… It sounded okay and all but not really all THAT good and since my peregrinations took me RIGHT PAST Wilsonville where the Fry’s is I just naturally HAD to go check out the Fourth of July sales, right? And it’s really not my FAULT that they were GIVING AWAY Blaupunkt speakers you know–I mean, they had triaxial 240W 6x9’s for sixty bucks, how in the world do they expect me to pass THAT up, huh? Answer is that no sane woman could, really. So Himself installed them and I just got back from sitting in my car listening to Kid Rock at very high volumes and grinning like a madwoman because there’s no blown speaker flutter and it’s crystal clear and I LIKE IT!!! I promise I won’t put a subwoofer in, though, that would be going just too far… I have my decorum as an old lady to think of, y’know…
Now I gotta burn like a million CDs for the car, heh heh–ROAD TRIP!
I took the most amazing power nap on the couch this afternoon, it was da shizzle my nizzles–making up for being awakened over and over by assholes and their fucking mortar rounds going off past 0200. I swear I’m going to have my own lovely little July 5th tradition of getting up at 0600 to blow off fifty or sixty shotgun rounds just to make sure everybody knows how patriotic I am! Gah, have I mentioned how much I hate this holiday? Poor little Callie-dog couldn’t settle down enough to finish her dinner until after eleven last night, even though there were chunks of crispy lamb fat in there–her family’s vegetarian, she doesn’t get stuff like that at home. She finally calmed down enough to eat and we warmed it up in the nuke for her, poor sensitive little thing.
So the kids are home safe from Chicago, they had a great time living the life o’Riley in a 33rd floor condo right on the Chicago River–apparently they could watch EVERYBODY’S fireworks for MILES up there, without having to hear a darned thing! Sounds perfect to me… Grandboy made a big impression on everybody, it’s a wonder they were allowed to bring him home!
Hmmmm, wonder what I want for dinner, anyway?
Good night y’all…
Morning all. Biding my time waiting for my offer letter to come in, so I call tell my boss [del]to shove this job up his a**hole sideways[/del] that I quit!
Enjoy your Sunday of rest/churchifying/layin’ around doin’ nothing!
floating into the thread
Yes, it’s late. Yes, I’m going to bed, because I have to work in the morning.
However, you ladies may all hate me now. I got to hug Kurt Browning tonight. He was skating here and I ended up sitting with some friends of his from home and got introduced briefly. And I, like an idiot, forgot my camera, but they got a picture and will be dropping a copy by my office…and I even managed to talk to him briefly without sounding like a total loon.
swooning all over the thread
How in the hell am I supposed to sleep now?
Ick. Mr. Lissar has a very bad cold, and puking from coughing. Nat thinks sleep is for wusses, and we got a distressing and confusing email from my SiL last night.
Yawn. Another day of playing hopscotch with the bed.
Morning, everyone.
OK, cat people, how do I stop my @#%*&#% feline from using the recliner as his alternate litter box?? Do I need to give him fresh litter every day?!?!? He uses his box and I clean it twice a day, but every once in a while, he feels the need to water the furniture. I’m wondering if it’s stress-related - we do have a houseful this weekend.
I’m at wit’s end, and I’m afraid I’m going to have to trash the recliner - I don’t know if I’ll ever get the smell out.
Damned cat.
Supper was pretty good last night, but one of our guests is a super-picky eater. She had one small piece of pork, and a couple of tomato slices. Nothing else. And it’s not like I cook weird, spicy, bizarro food. She did apologize and admit she’s really picky, but doggone!!
I wound up going to bed a bit before 9, and I mostly slept well, but I awoke before 5 with a coughing fit. Good enough reason to get up and caffeinate. The girls will be getting up, packing, and leaving within 2 hours. FCD, SIL, and I will then spend a few hours in the basement, hoping to finish the electrical work after we put the laundry room back together. This has been a painfully exhausting weekend - you should see the bruises all over me. Yanno, if I wanted to get my sweetie in trouble, I could take pics of all the purple and get him for beating me. Come to think of it, I’d have a hard time convincing anyone that he wasn’t responsible. Honestly, I don’t recall what caused most of the bruises and cuts. The only current one I remember is my right foot where I kinda dropped the 2x6 on edge - owie!
Anyway, happy Sunday! * MWAH!!*
Afternoon all. Well, I have signed my offer letter from the bank and have my resignation letter/email ready. My finger is hovering over the send button, while my tummy does backflips to amuse the resident butterflies!
I think I may go have a cigarette and calm down before I throw this little spanner into the works! :nervous smiley:
Go, Dotty, go!!!
Here’s hoping the new gig is better than the current one, tho it sounds as if it couldn’t be much worse.
w00t!!! Done and done and done! Sent the letter and had a quiet chat with the partner, who accepted it with <snerk> some resignation </snerk>. I politely told him that my decision to leave was due to a “personality clash”, which he agreed was one thing they couldn’t change. So now we wait and see whether they want me to stay on for a couple more weeks, or just finish up tomorrow. I hope I can stay on for a couple of weeks, just to earn enough to cover next month’s expenses. Hmmm, maybe I should have waited a few more days to quit!
In about 4 weeks, I will be “Vice President - Legal” at an Investment Bank, with full family health cover (worldwide, excluding USA and Canada), life insurance, generous pension plan and guaranteed annual bonus payments! I’m so excited!!!

Sorry for the double post, but this is revolting - the woman lays down for a nap and wakes up to find her dog chewed her toe off while she slept!
Probably stress-related, FCM. Aerin pulls that stunt when she feels unloved or unhappy.
Just phoned my parents (almost spelled phoned with and ‘f’, indicative of my state of mind) and NAt and I will go to their place until noon so Mr. Lissar might get some sleep. Poor guy.
Morning. More work, more rain forecast today.
W00T! dotty!
FCM, I’d settle for the beagle to stop grazing the litter box.
Sorry about the colds, LiLi.
Morning!
I was sleeping until the 3 caballeros (sp?) busted through the baby gate and attacked my door. Oh well.
I’m up but not quite at 'em.
Yay on the letter and the leaving. Sounds like you handled it really well, Dotty.
Guess I should get moving…
GT
That explains it,** Dotty**–I thought you had just taken a new position and was
Yay on the garden, GT! It sounds like it will be lovely.
ugh, LiLi–any chance of grandma and grandpa watching Gnat so that you can nap?
Busy day today–front porch to paint (the kids are going to help TH), grocery shopping and other sundry things.
Yeah rigs, I have only been here since mid-April (leaving within the 90-day probationary period means I only have to give 1 day’s notice), but it turned out I was jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Now that my goose is well and truly cooked, I am off to … umm … somewhere else, 'cause my string-on metaphors have run out of steam! ![]()
Yay, Dotty! I hope the new new job turns out to be everything the new job didn’t!
And yay! for snowbunny for meeting Kurt Browning! May I say how envious I am?
I’m not sure what to suggest about Taz, FCM – Bengals can be exceedingly stubborn and not shy in expressing their displeasure. I hope you get him settled down.
I’m sorry your family is sick, LiLi – that is definitely not fun. Get well wishes to all who need them!
The folks around here actually stopped shooting off fireworks at a reasonable hour last night. But they also stop playing loud music at a reasonable hour, even on weekends, so apparently I am gifted with considerate neighbors. A welcome change after the housewife/drug dealer** who lived across the street from us in New Orleans.
Papa Tigs not having a garage or basement to sort was reduced this morning to sorting the shed in the back yard. snowbunny and I both still snicker over the time when we were living in a townhouse, both our mothers were coming to visit simultaneously and the whole house needed cleaning, so what does he do? Goes and cleans the unfinished basement, which neither of them would be going down to see in any case, there being nothing down there except the laundry room and a bunch of boxes!
Men can be so strange at times!
Anyway, I need to get something done here today myself. Preferably something quiet that involves sitting at my desk. Yes, I know there’s a lot more housework that needs to be done, but I’m not in the mood for that yet, especially with it being a damp, grey day, which makes me extra-achy. So the house can wait!
**Looooong story – short version is she looked like the perfect suburban housewife, nice house, lovely yard, cute kids, except that she dealt drugs out of the Jeep in her driveway! Yes, everyone knew she was dealing drugs, especially the authorities, but they were apparently using her as bait to catch her supplier, so nobody would arrest her; she finally OD’d and died right in front of her kids, who I hope were young enough to not remember it.
But she and her milquetoast husband used to shoot off fireworks till 4:00 a.m. – with young kids in attendance! – in our quiet, sleeping neighborhood; finally one night I went out and yelled at her, and she called me rude! Hee! This is the woman who would have huge screaming, obscenity-filled fights with her “customers” right in front of her kids! But her husband did make her stop with the fireworks, and she never did it again, thank heaven! And then after she died he and the kids moved out and a lovely, quiet Korean family moved in, so everyone was happy. And, to be honest, nobody missed her! Yes, we were awful people. But she was an awful woman!
