The End of the Road...An Island MMP

Good morning!

Breakfast has been et, and I’m gonna go do the dishes, then head out to the grocery store.

Envy my exciting life.

Good morning everyone. I’m up and the coffee is just about done brewing.

Everyone keep their fingers crossed for us. A couple came out and looked at our boat yesterday. Then the husband showed up with his son to look at the boat again. They agreed the boat was in really good condition and didn’t seem to quibble too much about the price. We told them we’d throw in the wet suits, tube, ski vests and skis too. We’re holding onto the wakeboard though because hubby still uses that when he goes out on the neighbor’s boat.

I’m hoping today is a nice quiet day.

Fingers crossed for a speedy boat sale, Taters!

MamaT, sometimes I wish we had a basement, just so hubby would have a cave of sorts to retreat to when he’s feeling premenstrual!

Morning all! No caffeine yet, but I guess I’ll make a pot.

After last night, I have a few hickeys and a new (to me) car. They are not related in the slightest despite the minds around here. I met a new guy (well, didn’t just meet we’ve known each other about a month now as he’s the neighbour of my bff and I’m over there fairly often) and I bought bff’s fiance’s car.

Now my car.

So I have wheels, I just don’t have insurance or plates. So that will be gotten on Monday. I should be able to do all my insurance over the phone and fax, then stop at the registry downtown on the way home to register and get plates, then I need to get home put the plates on and go get gas. It’s not empty, but it’s low.

It’s a Pontiac Grand Prix, I took my test in it and I like driving it (did a lot of driving it while learning) and its got a nice boomer stereo in it, though I don’t know much about them. So I have to burn some cd’s as I have some but they’re out of date for my collection (not that I don’t listen to them, I just want other music too that’s not yet burned to mp3 cd).

Yay!

Congrats on the car, Flutterby.

I forgot to mention that the pie my daughter made yesterday turned out well. We also grilled some dogs and brats before we had the pie and her friend ate with us. He hung out most of the day here.

I’m sad to think that I probably won’t see him again. He’s a really good kid. We told him to write, but we’ll see what happens.

Today, my daughter is bringing the last of the pie to the other friend who’s leaving for Marine basic with the first friend (they joined on the buddy program). The second friend couldn’t visit yesterday because he had to visit his grandmother.

rigs, I loved your reply in the IMHO wedding invitation thread. That was hilarious.

yawwwwwwn

Yep, I need more sleep. It’ll have to wait.

And the only part you expand on is the car?! :dubious:

What is this place coming to?! :stuck_out_tongue:

Where’s Haze when you need her?!

Wow, BioTigs, she sounds like some neighbor. Pretty much the worst neighbor I can imagine. Sounds like you’ve earned the nice, considerate neighbors you have today.

Good luck with the boat, Taters!

ETA: What Roo said! Hee.

Done a very little bit of cleaning up, have been churchified, Home Depotified (is TOO a word), and am about to go tour a nearby garden (lots of daylilies) and then to the grocery.

Back after a bit…

GT

Well, OK, but how is it pronounced?

If the t is silent, why is the i next to it? That would make it depoified. And that doesn’t sound like a nice word.

If the t is not silent, you depotted your house?

These are the important issues of the day. . .my day, at least.

<snerk> speedy boat sale. Good one Dotty! Congrats on the new job!

Howdy Y’all! Home from churchification and burnchification. The cabbage casserole was a hit as always. Matter of fact I promised to email the recipe to several folks. Speakin’ of which, I looked on the recipe blog and discovered I did not give y’all this recipe. I shall now correct that.

Baked Cabbage Casserole

1 medium head cabbage (I leave it to you to figure what a “medium” head of cabbage is)

1/4 cup milk

1 can cream of celery soup (cream of mushroom works too but celery is better IMO)

3 oz. cream cheese

Italian Bread Crumbs or, if you must, shudder those canned french fried onion things

Chop cabbage coarsely. This means rough chop nut cuss while choppin’ although if you do who am I to judge. Boil for about eight minutes in salt water and drain. Heat the milk, soup and cream cheese together. Place cabbage in a two quart casserole and pour the heated up stuff over the cabbage, stirring to coat the cabbage. Top with bread crumbs or shudder the french fried onion thingys.

Bake uncovered for 40 minutes at 400 degrees.
There. Now y’all have the recipe. It is really good. Even people who say they don’t like cabbage say they like this.

Who the heck is Kurt Browning?

Ok, it’s cloudy and should be rainy/stormy in a bit so Ima turn off the puter and go take a nappy poo.

Later Y’all!

swampy, he’s a skater. See this here info. I’ve enjoyed him for years. So getting to meet him was really way cool.

Well there’s not much to say. His name is Cory, he lives next door to my bff and her fiance. He’s 34, has a good job in construction, he’s good looking and has several tattoos and has asked me out on a date (we need to decide what to do, probably Stampede as that’s what is happening right now) and man he is a reeeeaaally good kisser.

I haven’t had a good makeout session, that was just a makeout session, in years.

ETA: Oh, and one of the neighbour guys has the hots for me and he’s really cute but he’s only 16. I told him if in a couple years I’m single look me up.

Ta. I do my small best…

MMP ALERT!

#1 son caught an earlier flight! I have to leave in an hour to get him at the airport!

I’m making his favorite dinner* and lemon meringue mini-pies for dessert.
*Pizza casserole (aka spaghetti casserole), garlic bread, salad.

Now that the important stuff is out of the way, congrats on a good find!

I hope things go the way you would like them to.

And thanks for coming back to give more details. Some of us have to live vicariously through the words of others, so it’s always nice to see that some people are having a great time.

I hope so too! I’m not big on boyfriends (or wasn’t in the past… I was serially monogamous) and it’s been a pretty dry spell for the last… oh five years as I found myself again and try to be a good Mom to Velociraptor. So it’s nice to find a guy who wants to take things slowish and see where they go.

Don’t worry, I do a lot of living vicariously through here too.

Anybody else watching the Gentlemen’s Wimbledon finals?

What a phenomenal match! I can’t breathe- thank og they’re in a rain delay, pant, pant.

I’m trying to put some stuff on eBay for my mom and it’s giving me a headache. I think I need some chocolate.

I wasn’t, but just turned it on because of you. I used to be able to recognize tennis players, but although I know its Nadal vs. Federer, I have no idea which is which. OK…they just told me Nadal is the one serving. Cool. Watching tennis is always fun.

So…I’ve decided to postpone laundry, except for the sorting part. Little garden tour turned into two gardens. I was the first one there and the second person was a neighbor, whose garden I’d been wanting to see for a while. Extremely cool - 6 or 7 different Japanese maples. I never knew there were so many kinds. Now I want several.

It’s REALLY hot and sunny out, so I’m staying in and getting the house semi-under control. I have stuff I can move so that I don’t feel quite as blocked in. I’m going to have to wait a week from the point where my floor is finished to when I can move my bed back in, so I need to have things a bit more organized, I think. Fortunately, there’s quite a bit I can do here in the living room while the tennis match is finishing up.

If there are typos, I blame the tennis, because I’m watching and typing at the same time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone feel like starting us out tomorrow?

GT

Incredible match! I was hooting and hollering so much the dogs thought I was crazy!

What?

Me too- we scared the dog AND the children!

That was some of the best tennis I’ve ever watched. Hands down.

GT– hoped you enjoyed it!
