The final Skald the Rhymer thread...until the next one [updates].

:frowning:

I’m dearly sorry to hear of your ills, and heartsick to hear you’ll be leaving us.

As long as I’ve been here, I’ve always had trouble with remembering people. But you’ve always been one of the Dopers I’ve been able to think of, and pick out of a crowd.

My online sphere just got a bit smaller and colder. I’ll miss your presence, my friend—take care of yourself, happy trails, and fair thoughts and happy hours attend you.

I actually teared up a bit. Today, after I’d already seen the thread before, but couldn’t think of what to say.

I will miss you. I had a lot of fun with your stuff, from the hypotheticals to the role play.

If you run into anyone who thinks hypotheticals are stupid, let me know, and I’ll “lecture” them for ya.

Rhyme on, Skald.

Bummer you have been entertaining me for most of a decade. Thanks for the laughs. Enjoy your family and the rest of your life. May it be a long one.

Well, you were told enough when you were young that if you didn’t stop it you’d go blind.

Best of luck with it mate, I’m told there’s a real world out there somewhere other than the cyberspace one. If you find it and it works, send back a monkey with some pie as a sign.

Sorry to hear of your problems and to see you go. Always enjoyed your posts. Good luck with your surgeries. May you and yours have days of joy, nights of peace, and lives full of love.

So sorry to hear of this. I will miss you. Hope you stay well for your family.

God bless you, Skald. My hopes and prayers are with you for a successful surgery.

I will really miss your writings here. I’m relatively new here but I have been reading the board for years, and have really appreciated some of your threads. Especially the one where you described meeting your wife (I think?) that was incredibly romantic.

I’m so sorry about your vision, but best of luck with your heart surgery, and I sincerely pray you make it through OK and have a long and happy rest of your life.

-Hector

Best wishes Skald.
You’re one of the reasons I became hooked on the Dope to begin with.
Thanks for all you’ve given us.

Damn. This is big loss to me and the Dope. Your posts and hypothetical questions were highly entertaining.

The pies won’t be the same without you.

Farwell, Adieu, bon soir, Skald. Prosit. Auf wiedersehen. Au revoir. Adios.
How do you like that? He didn’t even say goodbye.

Skald, you were always a pillar of the Dope, steadily holding up your corner of the Brilliant/Daffy wing. It will take several of us to hold up your corner now.

I’ll never forget you.

DO NOT go quietly into that good night. Look into internet for the blind. Start now. Have a family member help you. You still have a lot to contribute.

Wow. I’ve been out of town the past few days and am just now seeing this.

Skald, if there were a Doper Hall of Fame, you’d be in it for sure.

I wish you all the best, and I hope that you’ll be able to at least check in here from time to time somehow.

this is Skald’s wife. He made it through surgery yesterday. He is sleeping now. A lot of people have sent messages through here. I read several to him. For some reason I do not understand I can’t send a private message to those people so I figured I would do that here. Thank you all so much.

Thank you for letting us know. I was going to ask how he was doing.

Thanks to the good Lady Rhymer for the update.
I hope you get to pop in every now and then and let us know how he’s doing, both with the unknowns around his vision, and in general.

Skald, you were the best boss I never had. You’ll be missed.

Maybe you could come around occasionally, just to check in and let us know how you’re doing? Like around holidays? Or a once-a-year holiday hypothetical that everybody could look forward to?

Well, think it over, anyway. Best of luck.

Thank you, Kim HUGS to you both!

Skald, I’m sorry to hear of your problems, you will be missed here, the Dope will be a much smaller place without you, hope you get better and prove your doctors wrong.

Hope this isn’t actually a true farewell, there’ll always be a place for you here in the SDMB
