That sounds good.
Benefit from Swampy’s sage advice, unusual humor, and t he grass gets cut! ![]()
There is no reference as Pomeranian breath as a weapon of mass destruction.

I don’t know if that is good or bad
While we were off to our monthly trip to VWife’s pill pusher and Wally*World expedition today, Freya went counter surfing and scored a 3 pound roll of dog food from the kitchen. We think she had help chowing it down, but she got most of it.
Her usual green clouds are now neon green, and will gross out even her.
I wished we lived near each other, Baker. I don’t knit or crochet, but you bake & I…

Are you by chance in NE Kansas?
I could swear I fixed the typos this morning!
At the moment, I just have a neck full of annoyed muscles and no actual pain. The technique really is close to magic. They slide a series of successively larger tubes over each other, so the muscles are spread apart, rather than cut, so recovery will be rapid. If anything’s hurting, it’s my temples from where they clamped my head in a frame so nothing moves while they’re working around all those fragile nerves.
I’m much closer to NE US. ![]()
“I’m not as think as you drunk I am, Occifer!”
Irked. Found out I have a second inventory, and 2 8 hour meetings next month. Dear God, I hope I win the lottery.
Checking back in at the end of my irk week.
The squid didn’t get me, though it was a close thing.
Oof, but my dogs are barkin’. All day on my feet in business casual shoes is uncomfortable by Wednesday, and painful by Firday. I almost went down at the end of the night tonight. I stood up, and my left heel just wasn’t having it–leg damn near buckled. The two trainees who saw looked seriously concerned.
Rough day today, as I had the privilege of covering the “distressed callers” material. I fucked up pretty badly, too. I bounced the reading around the room for most of the guide, planning on taking the suicide section myself. One of my trainees told me beforehand that her grandmother died recently, and was concerned she might become emotional when the module came to ‘deceased beneficiaries’. I never considered the possibility that someone might bounce to her in the middle of that section. :smack: Of course, someone tried to bounce to her during that part of the lesson. I turned to her, saw her face, and then remembered what she had shared. I redirected, but she still needed to leave the room.
When I collected her and the other trainees who had left during the module (most during the suicide section), I pulled her aside and apologized profusely. She was more than gracious. Still, I feel like an utter ass that I exposed her to that emotional trauma. Lesson Learned: Zazzy reads both the suicidal caller and recently deceased sections of the module. I can bounce the read around the room on the angry, confused, or frustrated caller sections.
MOOOOOOM, it would be a time suck if I wasn’t too tired to do anything but read after work, and if my current corporate workplace wasn’t locked down tighter than a DoD open-storage facility (not even kidding). Going anywhere outside of corporate or .gov can lead to disciplinary action up to, and including, decapitation.
Anyway, felt I couldn’t leave y’all hangin’ after my arrival. Off to read the rest of the thread!
Damn! Morning flight cxl’d due to it being windy. I am in serious need of sleep but I’m up now. Too early to go out b/c it’s still dark out.
Mebbe some caffeine & house cleaning???
Good morning!! It’s cool out this morning, so I’ve opened a few windows to enjoy it. It probably won’t last long, but I’ll take what I can get. Four crabbers on the list so far, but none are mine, dammit.
It’s still early. Maybe I’ll get one. Maybe.
Since today is the ballgame with the bikers and we’ll be doing the ride with them at 4:30, I’m just hoping I don’t have any late crabbers. Being the weekend, I doubt it.
**Zazzy **- can you explain “bounce the read around the room” - what kind of training are you doing?
**Baker **- I crochet also. In fact, last night I finished crocheting a kid’s hat. Today, I’ll be putting up an ad to sell 2 great big bags of wool - some is 100%, some is blended with mohair or silk, some is a mystery because the skeins or balls had no labels.
Since the things I make are donated to nursing homes and homeless organizations, they want items that don’t require any special care. Everything I make is from synthetic yarn, primarily acrylic - easy to wash and dry, not likely to rot. Anyway, the wool was donated and I decided rather than have it go to waste, I’ll sell it, then use the money to buy more acrylic yarn. It’ll free up space in my yarn room and give me what I really need. Win-win!!
Other than maybe getting a crabber today, I’m going to take advantage of the loverly weather and do a load or 2 of laundry. I’ve got FCD’s travel duds and a pile of assorted towels and rags that will benefit greatly from a day in the sun. I may push the mower in the ditch, too. Or I’ll save that for tomorrow - don’t want too much fun in one day!!
Happy Saturday, all!!
I’m glad your surgery went well, gotti.
Sari, since I was just getting back to the MMP this morning, I was hoping as I read along that you would have found something out by now.
Well, I survived the first week of school and managed to pick up a cold. That was fun trying to drill children on math facts yesterday in between blowing my nose and washing or purelling my hands. Today I have a show and then tonight and tomorrow I plan to do nothing. Hopefully I can stick with that plan.
Blurf
Blurf.
One thing I’m definitely not going to miss moving out- the new neighbour. I may have mentioned him- he yells ‘WOOOOO!’ at random intervals, day and night.
He spent last night trying to pick a fight with someone inside a house, 'cos he reckoned the guy was looking at him, and he doesn’t like being looked at (all the time sitting in the front yard, yelling comments at passers by, and desperately trying to flirt with all the passing women. He’s currently yelling at everyone going into the shop two doors up, telling them not to go in, because the shop’s racist. He might well have a point, that shop is obnoxious (I actually don’t shop there either, since they’ve tried to badly overcharge me several times), but that doesn’t change the fact that he should just shut up already.
It’s quite impressive actually- the same guy woke me up yelling at 1, 3, 6.45 and 8 and he’s still going now at 11.30.
Anyway… I has interview today, with the company I argued about the rejection letter with. Not wholly sure what the job entails- it’s security, either for a harbourside nightclub, or possibly for a party boat- the ad wasn’t very clear… Anyway, we shall see. I hope the Mumper job fairy is still around!
Thank you. I’m so glad there are some knitters/hookers who realize the need for acrylic. Everywhere I go online people are singing hymns to the greatness of wool, but they don’t consider people who might be allergic to wool (several members of my family) or if you want to donate the finished item to the cause, like Project Linus or nursing homes where they don’t want something that may cause allergic reactions or need to be handled with great care. I loves my acrylic.
Except when I’m making potholders. Then it’s cotton all the way, baby.
Definitely cotton for potholders, dishcloths, and hot pads.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and well, caffienated and brekkied already. Tis a pleasant and mild feelin’ 72 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 87 for the day. Should make mowin’ the back forty over to the church house not too bad this mornin’.
Sari appropriate/inappropriate appendages still crossed. Look at it as a good sign. It means they’re workin’ hard to push the mortgage through for ya.
I read potholders as potheads and thought, “yeah, them potheads do like their all natural fibers.” ![]()
Ok, I need to go somewhat purtify for back forty mowage. I figure I should at least brush my teeth and shave so as to be somewhat publicly presentable.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
Of course.
Corporate training. Training new hires to be CSRs on different government contracts.
Training has to follow a certain order and include certain things, as laid out in training modules.
Training teams get shuffled for every class, and every team has it’s own synergy with its class. We employ a lot of different tactics from module to module–activities, read alongs, self-paced, collective, etc. We try to tailor the tactics to what we’ve gleaned about our trainees’ learning styles. And we try to regularly switch, to satisfy different learning styles.
When I talk about ‘bouncing the read,’ I mean that I ask for a volunteer to start a particular lesson off–reading the module while everyone else follows along. The reward for volunteering is getting to choose who the next reader is. Reading is not optional (with the sole exception I mentioned before). The person who just finished reading ‘bounces’ the read to the person they name. It keeps people on their toes and paying attention, knowing they may be called upon (by their peers) and need to know where we’re at in the lesson (helpful at 11:30 at night…). A trainee finishes a page and I’ll ask them, “who do you want to pick on?” When done right (and so far), they always pick kindly.
To contrast, the trainer reads the module. Or we ‘snake’ the room, picking someone to begin. and the person next to them has to continue.
And since I know your background in contracting MoooooM, I’ll just say that I’m on a sub with a prime on a new initiative.
We call the walking petri dishes for a reason. HINT: This will happen after each vacation, when they get a chance to cross-pollinate with the family.
