The going to work early MMP

Don’t worry, the last line of my .sig is being borne out in the thread in question.

Caffienating, about to go run a few errands. Today is the last day I’m spending all of the money. I put off purchasing several things too long, so I gave myself the freedom to ignore my budget during vacation to get them purchased. Like new jeans, which are very comfortable btw.

Blurf. Back still hurts, but a little less. I actually got a good night’s sleep thanks to the muscle relaxers I was prescribed. Doctor thinks it’s just a really bad muscle spasm, so it’s your basic “suck it up and deal” diagnosis, but it came with some drugs, so I’m happy. Still have to reschedule my PT for the knees, but I’m just going to wait until my back is mostly normal again. Stupid body. Stop getting old!

Whew - temporary withdrawal! My ISP got all wonky and nothing was updating, so I decided to take a shower and trim my bangs. Now I’m back. Yay!

I still need to iron the shirt I’m wearing for my interview. I should look at my black loafers also and make sure they’re presentable. And chew some mint gum on my way there so I have minty breath. And remember not to scratch or belch or snurfle too much. See? I know how this interview stuff goes!

And I can’t crochet
Someone should start a thread we do a craft exchange or something

The problem I have with t-shirt yarn is that I just don’t have the patience to make it–although I have about a million t-shirts I could easily part with. I once made a messenger bag out of old plastic bags threaded into yarn–I will never do that again. Making the plastic yarn was way more effort than it was worth, and crocheting it was possibly a bigger pain in the ass.

You need to make a special cd and leave it on repeat. Think Devo, ABBA, Slim Whitman, Wagners Ride of the Valkyries, things like that.
Yes, I am evil.

One of my friends suggested Bronski Beat but even I am not quite that evil unless I am out of the house while it’s playing.

“Hey Mickey” on repeat all. day. long.

You think *you *know evil?

I thought for a second you said you had to iron your skirt and I was confused. You don’t strike me as a skirt person.

I have two bags I made like that. I loved it. Tying the plastic yarn together was fun. I gave the pattern to my sister for use as a Girl Scout project.

But yes, t-shirt yarn making sucks. When I do it again I’m going to have two…no three…things I don’t have now: tailor’s chalk, a rotary cutter, and a cutting mat with measurements marked off on it. I can’t eyeball or cut a straight line with scissors to save my life.

Ooh, I didn’t think of using my rotary cutter. If I just cut the t-shirt into strips and use the same method I did with the plarn … hmm. Still time-consuming, but less trouble than before.

Definitely not. I have some dresses that I bought last year, and they’re still just hanging in the closet, never worn. Maybe I’ll take them when I go on my cruise next year…

Morning all checks computer clock yep still got 18 minutes of morning left,

Irk took over my morning but I am always happy when the day goes by fast. Talked myself into working all day Friday when I normally don’t work at all but have stuff that the boss lady needs done so work I must. Am disappointed as Mr. Jynxsters and I want to go see this on Friday and I didnt want to go on a Saturday but time is running out and we may have brave the weekend crowds.

**Jynx **- I’ve been to a couple of those exhibits - really interesting! Maybe if you get there first thing Saturday, the crowds won’t be as bad?

OK, I’m going to get away from the computer and get out my iron. Right now. I mean it!!!

:stuck_out_tongue:

I just found out how I rate. Spousal unit arrived at his aunt’s place, called his dad, and didn’t call me. Luckily, his aunt had called here the other night and she was still on callerID - I wouldn’t have had her number otherwise.

On the other hand, my ironing is done. I’ll need to get dressed eventually…

Here’s a picture of hubby’s tire that blew out. I’m amased the truck didn’t flip over.

Holy crap, picu!!!    That is terrifying!!!    Glad your hubby is OK.

I’m also amazed I can’t spell “amazed.” :smack:

I’m all dressed up for my interview. I have a timer set so I leave on time. The house is closed and the a/c is on, dammit. Summer is back.

Less than an hour till I meet my potential boss.

Oh yes, and I’m chewing some doublemint gum so I won’t offend him with ham-n-swiss sammich breath!

That’s my kind of music.

And I had never heard of Bronski Beat, but I looked them up on the youtubes, and I like them, hehe

Off to listen to The Beloved now :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you sure? Don’t you need to put a little more starch in someone’s drawers?

How did my interview go, you ask?

First, let me remind you that I was interviewing for a temp (3-6 months) drafting job. They made it pretty clear that it’s a temp job - maaaaaaaaybe it might stretch out a little longer, but it’s a temp job. No problem - that’s what I was looking for.

So, what is one of the questions I get? “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

Seriously?

I promise, I didn’t laugh, but I wanted to. I replied: “Retired.” I did tell them that I wasn’t looking for a career - I was looking for something to do because retirement got boring.

All in all, it seemed to be a good interview. They wanted to be sure I knew where the job was (yes, I know it’s down in the boonier part of the boonies) and that it was just 3-6 months, probably (yes, I know, that’s why I applied.) They wanted to know what I knew about technical data packages and ECO/ECN/ECR, they wanted to know about checking drawings, they wanted to know how I dealt with difficult coworkers. We also talked about my crabber monitoring job. And they said they’d be in touch. So we shall see.

Where do I want to be in 5 years…
