The Heat Is On-A Start Of Summer MMP

Spousal unit seems to have developed a nasty cold with nastier sinus drainage. Poor baby…

We got a little rain, but not nearly enough, dammit! Maybe another shower tonight?? I can dream.

Meanwhile, I just had some ice cream and I’m thinking I’ll go to bed early. I’s tahred.

W00t! Pending the background/credit check, it looks like I’ll be moving sometime mid August. I should know for surby Thursday afternoon.

Yay! The MMP is mostly happy new today. This makes me smile. We had a rough go for awhile there. (Well, other than the sickies - get well soonest sickies!)

94 degrees today and hotter times to come. I quit working about 3:30. I checked myself in the mirror around 4:30 and I still looked like a boiled tomato. I’d use my cement pond, but it’s outside - where the sun is.

The official move is now next week. The mover moved dates on me, and the painter can’t start anyway. I changed movers to someone I like better, but I’m not really complaining about the extra week. There’s a little voice in my mind worried about the housing market crashing, but hopefully that will hold off a while yet.

Tonight I shall have a beer and sit in the cool dark under the fan. Boy child wants pizza. We shall see. I’m just enjoying sitting still for a bit.

Reading elsewhere on the Dope I learned that Amazon had another class action settlement about e-books (B&N did too - I think it must actually be the publishers that are paying out). Anyhoo, I trotted, virtually speaking, over to my Amazon account and checked my balance. Sweet mamma-jamma! $321! (Apparently I read a lot of books.) I am a happy little Sunny at the moment.

If any of you get e-books you might want to check your accounts.

Butters welcome back! I just bet King Louie will not let you out of his site.

red and sunny yay on the moves!

And on that note, 'tis time to retire to the boudoir. OYKW is already abed and I’s sleepified.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Your local newspaper may have all (or at least some) of the salacious details.

Congrats on the new gig, Nettie. A steady paycheck is a beautiful thing.

The saga of the New! Improved! Stately Doors Manor is coming to an end. The mortgage guy called today to tell me that the VA appraisal has been completed and the report will be delivered tomorrow. However, the seller’s agent was crawling up our agent’s ass about when the appraisal was going to be, since the appraiser needs access to the house to do the report. So our agent called the broker’s contract guy to find out what the hell was going on. He couldn’t tell her whether he’d scheduled the appraisal because there were so many, he couldn’t keep track. So the sellers are going nuts, we’re going nuts, and the appraisal was done. Once that’s received and Airman’s income is verified (which I have no idea why that’s even an issue, since we supplied pay stubs and tax information), we should be good to go. So here’s the next logical question…

Anyone want to help us move?

Well, the plug is being pulled on my Ford Escort. It’s been officially totaled after being struck by a hit and run driver. I should get a check from the guy’s insurance in the near future. Damn, I liked that car. Now I have to find a new one. It was the last car my father ever helped me find, a connection that now will be gone. I have to grow up and find a car for myself.

It’s been so hot and humid here, hard to bear. If only it would be cool for just a day, to freshen things up.

ddsun, I wish you well on the move. The mere thought of moving makes me shudder.

You too missred. Ive been in the same place now for over twenty years. Stuff piles up.

Worked, came home, Making spicy Chinese for dinner.

No, they merely control the British Monarchy. And good luck on the packing!

That’s more of a Flytrap thing. He refers to himself in the third person as well.

Baker, I loved my Escort wagons, too.

Good luck on the move, red.
I’d help all y’all move, but I’m spending my one week of vacation [del]soaking up local culture[/del]destroying my liver in Lawn Guyland.

Well, I’ve definitely cooled off.

Made it to Johannesburg after a 15+ hour flight. Temperature this morning is a balmy 43F. We’re at 5,500’ above sea level and the farthest south I have ever been, so no summer here.

Still, got through customs easily enough, hotel is nice (albeit without heat, so several layers of bedding is required…cocooned, I was…and we’re going out for some type of cultural exhibition in about an hour.

Don’t know if I’ll be able to access the net at any other time, but so far, so good.

All y’all take care.

Happy Hump Day!

NOT!

It’s a clear 67 degrees outside. I should have the windows open, but I don’t.

I already have the dishwasher running, still trying clear out the jet dry dispenser.

I need another day off, but that isn’t going to happen.

I have to call the mortgage company back - they still have not fixed the insurance issue and it was supposed to be done yesterday.
I am so tired of cleaning up behind other people.

I’m glad you made it safely to Africa, MetalMouse, enjoy your trip today.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin and clear with a predicted high of 94 and sunny for the day. I shall head over to the east forty this mornin’ so that means leave for there from da cave. Hopefully I’ll have all that done and in the orifice by noonish.

Rockin’ congrats! I’d help move but that’s the very weekend I set aside to clean the bathroom grout, dangit!

MetalMouse glad you made it safe and sound. Have a great time!

CupCakes sorry about the car. May you find the perfect ride soonest.

OK, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, purtification for irk must commence.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

It’s cool and damp here today, both inside and out. Our office has developed a nasty damp problem, we’ve found patches of damp in the back part of the office and mildew on some stuff. Plus it smells damp and the air feels odd. We are having it investigated by our facilities and estates folks but for now there’s not much we can do about it.

In other news, nothing much going on! There were unexplained delays on the trains last night going home so I only just made it to the gym in time for my spin class. Tonight it’s pub night so that’s something to look forward to. I have to cook when I get home so I think it’ll be chilli tonight because that’s quick and easy enough, and I’ll have leftovers for another night and some for the freezer.

**sari **- have you tried cycling your dishwasher with a big glug of vinegar in it? Or dumping some in the jet dri reservoir? Couldn’t hurt, could it?

I hear tell that there are people who climb into bed, fall asleep, and don’t get up till morning - it is true? Sounds like a fantasy to me… <yawn>

I’m giving serious consideration to dropping cable TV and going all-streaming. Our cable company keeps raising its rates, but we don’t get anything more for the money. And apart from the news, we don’t seem to watch much in the way of first-run TV. I asked **FCD **to make a list of what he likes to watch so I can bounce it against the various streaming services. Heck, if we drop TV, we could upgrade to the higher-speed internet service to accommodate streaming. Must consider that… Altho I may keep basic cable just to have local news - we’re pretty far out for getting TV via antenna.

One of the disadvantages of living in the boonies…

Up, caffeinated, and shevled. Closing tonighht, but it’s my Firday.

I do!

Glad you made it safe, metalmouse. Does the “culture” involve yeast and barley?

Ruble loves Diggerland where you get to play with construction equipment. Is Lawn Guy Land a junior version where you get to play with lawn mowers & weed wackers?

Blurf. Not being able to fall asleep until almost 4 and then waking up at 730 kinda sucks. No alarm but my brain apparently said “hey it’s time to be awake!” And then bounced on the bed until I got up.

Stupid bouncy brain.

In my case it’s more “realize I’m asleep, slither into bed, don’t get up until a time that will be morning or not depending on the time of year”. In the last couple of years I’ve been known to sometimes stumble out of bed at Ungodly a.m. to pee and then drop right back in.

whine whine, period, whine whine, thank Big Pharma for ibuprofen and God for chocolate, amen
My cellphone insists in giving me the local weather report (why? we do have windows). Right now it says “clear skies”. I think there should be a setting of “not a single cloud”, “clear” doesn’t quite seem enough.

BLURF Back at irk. I wish I’d taken today off just to reset from my trip. Here I am at irk though. Louie is with me today. Sweet little fellow.

I did not bring lunch and I am hungry. Don’t know what I will do but it may involve a trip to the Pubic store.

While one can eat things from the Pubic store, I don’t think they’d be very nutritious.
