Hooray for jobs and not-sick doggies, safe travels to the wanderers, and much beer, pizza, and sympathy for the movers.
I’ve had a cow-irker arrested at work before - nice guy, actually, but he was selling a little something extra from behind the front desk, and the local constables took issue with that.
Took The Boy with me today as I ran errands. He now knows where the good/cheap produce market is - and admits that he wouldn’t have stopped by on his own accord. It looks like an old, falling down barn in a marginal neighborhood (mostly because it’s an old falling down barn in a marginal neighborhood,) but the produce is glorious and fresh and seasonal and 1/3 the prices at the Saturday farmers market 6 blocks away. (Plus, the owners do little things like donating their surplus to the local pantry, and serving up a free lunch every Wednesday. And, though they don’t brag about themselves, I know for a fact that several of the elderly residents in their neighborhood receive a little bag of eggs and fruit and vegetables and bowls of Wednesday soup a couple of times a month. They’re the kind of business that has quietly earned my custom, even if the prices weren’t so reasonable.) The Boy expressed his gratitude by treating me to a butter brickle ice cream cone - yum!
Continuing to add to the stockpile for the upcoming move for The Boy and Friends. My friend didn’t have any “spare” $$ for a formal graduation gift for her honorary nephew, so she did even better: she gave him free reign of her stockpile. He got a nice vacuum, a really nice desk chair, a closet organizer, pots and pans, etc., plus a nice little herb garden for the patio. And I added more sale items to the Big Box o’ Consumables today. I truly don’t think my own pantry and supply cabinet was as well-stocked until I’d been married for a couple of years!
Proud of Girl 2.0, also. She figured out how to improvise a plumbing “snake” from a coat hanger, and cleared about a Godiva of hair from her shower drain. And her final freshman transcript was posted - 97.75 actual average, 100.8 weighted average (advanced classes get a little “bump” in the way they are figured.) Currently ranked #2 in a class of 477. And she’s polite and pretty! (Takes after her Mama!)
While I’m rambling - last night, the Littlest Misses were arguing. Bigger Little (age 6) took something from the 4-year-old. At the top of her lungs, Littler Miss (WASPiest little kid ever) protests “No bueno!” I was laughing too hard for discipline to happen. Littlest was mad today, and informed the teenage sister that Santa was watching, a “You. Get. NOTHING!!!”
