I’m pissing people off at work today. ::sigh::

One of those weeks, and it’s only Tuesday…

I seem to be abnormally fascinated by farts today. I blame lieu.

Welcome to my world.

Now I must go back and tell someone that they can not have their co-worker’s email password…

Hope things start to go better quickly, LiLi. Lots of hugs.

Did everyone see the Twinings tea discount offer in the Marketplace forum? It’s a pretty good deal and even has a free magazine discount at the end (for ordering over $15) that appears to be legit (I’m not sure that I’ve gotten free subscriptions through this particular service before, but I’ve gotten free subscriptions for my frequent flyer miles on several occasions). They don’t ask you for any information other than your address (both postal and e-), so it doesn’t seem like a particular risk. Not a great selection of magazines, but still…

You are very mean, gotti! How could you possibly not share someone else’s password? (Also, have they looked under said person’s keyboard?)

Long, fairly productive day. Tomorrow is promising to be very long and meeting-filled. I’m trying to figure out how to be productive despite that.

Off to search for dinner.

Hugs.

Finally able to check in. We had to have Charley put down. When I let Scruffy out after eating, I heard Charley yowling like crazy in the garage. I found her under the sander with her front claws grabbing a screen, unable to move. **FCD **came out and picked her up - her hind end wasn’t moving and she was holding her head at an odd angle. The vet said we could come right over.

Turns out she’d thrown a clot, just like happened to Brandy. He said it was one of those things that just happened sometimes to cats. And there’s nothing to be done. So we had him euthanize her. Poor kitty - she was two days away from seeing the vet for her shots and stuff. Now she’s gone. At least we were able to give her a few warm, well-fed weeks. Poor Charley. :frowning:

In better news, I was looking at the slides from a presentation I missed by being off on Friday. It appears of the 89 of the analysts that include me, only 9 will be let go. So barring a drastic change, I won’t be retiring. The Colonel will be talking to us again tomorrow - we’ll see what he has to say.

Plus the stoopit VTC that kept me late was kinda fun, mostly because we turned our microphone off and were goofing off after I talked about the 3 slides that described my part of the project. They’re going to be briefed to the Joint Chiefs of Staff! Are you impressed? Stuff that I did will be seen by officers with stars all over their shoulders!

Thus endeth my Tuesday. I’m ready for the week to be done.

So sorry about Charley MOOOOOOM. Like you said, her end days were spent in comfort,so good on y’all for that!

{{{taxi}}} but sometimes people deserve to be poed.

I’m feelin’ better but not great. I have already decided that tomorrow is a non irk day. I just feel like I need to stay home to make sure I’m all good. Soup was a good idea tonight. I told OYKW to not get near just in case. He called me just a little bit ago to check on me. AWWWWWW…

That’s the news from caveland this evenin’.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Aww, I’m sorry about Charley, FCM. :frowning:

Yay on the good work news! And I AM impressed that the Joint Chiefs of Staff get to hear about your work. I follow the Chairman on Twitter and he seems to be an impressively down-to-earth guy with some actual common sense.

I haven’t done much tonight; I’ve knit a bit and surfed a few places on the net.

I think I’m going to wind up by knitting and watching something online. Exciting board meeting tomorrow. Boss says I have to go (but I donwannnnnnnaaaaaaa!!!).

More hugs.

We are here, our [del]shit is[/del]household goods are not.

I’ll be going to bed shortly.

Canes lost, but had a good time with friends.
Poor Charley.:frowning:

Aw, so sorry to hear about Charley, FCM.

Sorry that I haven’t been around much; been trying to recouperate after this virus/cold/whatever that I’ve had. It’s been nasty. Still don’t have much of an appetite either. Since I haven’t really been keeping up, it’s a Rosie’s .sig to all. I am, however, all set for the second cataract surgery on Monday am!

Is it FIRDAY yet?!

It is Firday minus two.

It’s bad when you wish your workweek was over so you’d be able to Do Someting other than look-busy, but dread it being over because it means Mom’s coming :frowning: Blagh!

So sorry, Nava. Deep breaths. Focus on her departure date.

Last week: IKEA hot dogs. This week: IKEA Stonehenge.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Well, not for me cause I still have the sick. I don’t have fever though so maybe it’s allergy related. Anywho, tummy does not feel queasy anymore but I’s all stuffded up. I woke up about 5 a.m., peed and decided to just go back to bed. So, I’ve only been up a few minutes and no irk today cause I don’t feel like it.

gt HEE!

BBBobbio hope all your stuff gets there today!

I shall now have some caffiene and some cereal.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Sorry about Charley, FCM. Really cool about the joint chiefs though!

gt: Hah! That’s awesome.

I forgot to comment on the fire stuff yesterday, gotti. That’s impressive. And does make one consider sprinklers for home!

Is Wednesday going any better LiLi?

Hope the sickies feel better.

I think I’m pissing off fewer people today. So far. It’s early still and there are plenty of opportunities.

My spanikopita for dinner last night didn’t turn out as well as it usually does. :frowning:

And I’m on call this weekend and already dreading it. On call weekends are starting to outweigh all the good stuff here: good teammates, work I am really good at and really enjoy, great manager (aside from not being able to do anything about the on call shit), super short commute, good company, great vacation time. It’s not there yet, but it may be at the pull-resume-out-and-update-it-while-I’m-stuck-on-call-this-weekend point. From there, there are more options, even if I don’t do anything besides go to Manager and say “so I spent some time on the weekend updating my resume.” (It’s highly unlikely that they’d say “ok, then leave” because we have a 3 person team with definitely 3 people’s worth of work. Showing me to the door would leave them in a bad place. Not because I’m so special but because they need three bodies in chairs working, not two. And I’ve been here 4 1/2 years so it’d take a really long time to get a new person trained to have the knowledge and experience in this company that I have.) Maybe, just maybe, it would get them moving a little faster on improving the process so we aren’t working on weekends. Grr.

Sorry for your loss, FCM. Thromboembolisms are often very sudden, you may never know beforehand that they have a heart issue. But there isn’t a lot that can be done once they throw a clot, especially if the clot goes to the brain or lungs. There are treatments that can be tried for rear limb clots (saddle thrombus) if caught quickly but even if that clot resolves, which in my experience is rare, there is still the underlying heart disease and even on meds they can throw more clots, which they usually do. It’s a frustrating disease and I think you did the right thing by not prolonging his pain.

Sorry about Charlie Mom.

My head hurts.

I proposed to a Pretty Young Thing last night. Background: At my Regular Place of Beer, where I’m more or less the Norm (from Cheers) of the place. I was chatting with V, one of the servers. She’s a tall - statuesque would be appropriate - blond with big pretty blue eyes - I think 21 or 22.

We were just BS’ing about life, and she mentioned school. I asked her what she was taking, “what do you want to be when you grow up?”

She said she’s kind of undecided right now, just loading up on some liberal arts stuff while she figures it out. She asked me what I think she should be when she grows up. I said “a trophy wife”.

She went along, and asked what it takes to be a trophy wife. I said you have to be gorgeous, young, and willing to be treated like a princess, and endure the stares of the older wives who will wonder what you see in me. She asked didn’t I have to be rich to be a trophy wife? I said, usually, but older and comfortably secure would probably work.

So, we’re leaving our options open. Once we get past the part about me already being married, her huge boyfriend, and the dual facts that she’s younger than my daughter and I’m two years older than her mom, we’ll be set.

Y’all are invited, you’ll love her.

I killed it didn’t I?

No, we’re deciding what to wear to your wedding, and whether you have things in common like, well, you both like soup.

Today’s going better although we’re on day two of Mr. Lissar not being here at all. Day two of four, which includes the whole weekend, 8-8. On the bright side I have a clothing swap planned for Sunday and I’m going to con Muppet into making something to bring. What should I ask her for? Remember that she’s a Supreme Cooking Goddess with no small children to get in the way.
Sorry about Charley, FCM. Hugs.
I just went to a large confusing ethnic grocery store. I didn’t buy any fresh turmeric root, screw pine extract or birch flowers. I did find out that Gnat likes sesame balls (snerk!) stuffed with sweet bean paste. Thing he’s already eaten that I hadn’t even heard of until much older:

Souvlaki, falafel, sesame balls, pho, hummus, naan, aloo gobi… it’s weird. I was brought up on mac’n’cheese and pork chops and stew. I think my parents kind of wonder what happened. My dad refuses to eat at restaurants I pick.
