the "I couldn't sleep, so I started the" MMP

Man, was I ever glad I go in to work early, especially today. The DC area (maybe more, I don’t know) is doing some sort of security exercise this week. At Dahlgren, it included putting up jersey barriers at the gates to make a snaky entrance path, so instead of two straight lanes in, there’s one slalom. My cube neighbor was an hour and 20 minutes late due to the backed up traffic. Which also means the kids would have been late getting to daughter’s school since it’s on the same road as the main gate to the base. Boss was late, too - in fact, even the second earliest arrival was late. I was the only one there at my usual time.

Today is vet day for Scruffy and Ziva. They should be easy enough to manage myself, as long as I can catch Ziva and get her in the carrier. I should go close off all the bedrooms right now that I’m thinking of it.

Turkey tit for supper, with rice-n-gravy and something green - maybe sugar snap peas? Glad the week is almost over…

Oh, and in case you haven’t been following the news, Qaddaffy Duck and his son are out of their ever-lovin’ minds. Just sayin’…

Busy day here. I finally took myslef to the doctors about my knee - I tore the ACL in my left knee on one of my overseas adventures and care was less than sufficient and I have been in pain ever since. I have a nice referral to an ortho knee specialist that I need to arrange the appointment. Lots of interviews done tody as well and more scheduled for this afternoon.

It is almost the weekend whoohoo! Although allegedly aparently that if it is to ever snow here in the central valley of CA then tomorrow is the day. So no doubt the entire town will shut down. Oh well. We have food. And TP. And beer. So we are good

Sorry about Charlie fcm

I had 5 hours of meetings scheduled today. I only ended up with about 3 1/2, but it still doesn’t leave a lot of time for getting work done!

The traffic backups sound insane, FCM. Glad you didn’t get caught in that!

Good luck with the knee, mmmmmms!

Glad the move’s over, bobbio, although you have wiki’s fun to look forward to now. :stuck_out_tongue:

Skiing tonight after work since we have snow again. Yay for more snow!

So, I got out of bed around 4 this morning, and went to get my car keys. The keyfob needed to be updated, so I had to have them in my room and my headboard seemed like a bad place for them so I settled on leaving them on my dresser before promptly going back to sleep…Wait, what? Why would my keyfob need to be updated? And why would I need to have them near my bed for that to happen?

Well, duh, elf! You needed your keyfob near your bed so it could get updated in your dream. Oh, and whatever that was you et last night, don’t eat it again. :stuck_out_tongue:

Baked chicken boobs, lima beans and steamed carrots for dindin. NUM! Oh and some pretty good brown and serve rolls I found at the grocery sto.

gotti a building in Albeeeny got flooded last week because the sprinkler system went off durin’ the night. It’s either a case of tampering or a really big time malfunction. We have to find our own entertainment in these parts.

My critters have been shot - Ziva is not happy with me. Oh well…

Supper was OK, except my jar of turkey gravy expired in Nov 09. I tried to make some gravy, but it didn’t work. Oh well…

Tomorrow’s Firday, so yay for that. And on that note, I’m off to watch Jon Stewart.

I had spaghetti and cheese for dinner. And some grape tomatoes. And Twizzlers for dessert.

Funny dream, elf.

Glad you’ve arrived, Bobbio. I’m hoping never to have to move again.

Very tired. Need to get some work done and also some documents for a meeting on Saturday.

But first I’m going to knit for a bit and watch something mindless.

Hugs all.

I made Korean keema, rice, and a stirfry with chard, bok choy and carrots. It was good.

Oof. My head hurts and I should clean the fridge.

I think I’ll leave it for tomorrow morning during Baby’s nap. It is too late in the day to clean fridges. I just want to go to bed.

We had pork chops, fried potatoes, and green bean casserole. Yes, green bean casserole - it’s not just for Thanksgiving anymore.

Just wanted to let Swampy know - we’re in good shape, too.

Well, my mother has breast cancer again. I’d appreciate Mumper prayers and good wishes.

My thoughts:

:mad:FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK:mad::frowning:

healing vibes sent to DBMom My two aunts have survived breast cancer three times (Mom’s sister had it twice, the doctors swear both cancers are unrelated to each other)… may your Mom’s care be at least as good as what they received.

Met with a family lawyer yesterday to get information on “what exactly are the legal obligations between grown-up parents and childrent”. Turns out that under current economical and medical conditions (she’s got a nice income from SS, an overlarge flat in a prime location, and is nuts but officially compos mentis), my official obligations to Mom are, exactly

zilch.

And, if she ever gets to the point of actually needing help, it would be me and the Bros who would be able to choose how exactly to provide it: she has the right to “living assistance” (food, clothing, housing, medical services and any physical and organizational assistance needed in order to use them), but not the right to up and say “I’m moving in” - or to ‘come visit’ and simply not leave. Mind you, I still have to be the one saying “no”, but simply knowing that I can makes me feel so much better.

It is today 11 years since Dad died…

Lots of good thoughts and prayers headed out for your Mom, doggio.

Glad for the good outcome on your talk with the lawyer, Nava.

Heh, Rebo.

Up and at 'em…

Hugs.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ on a warmish but cloudy mornin’. We’re supposed to get rain later this mornin’. I went out to get the paper and thought, dang! it’s too warm! So the weather says 64 Amurrkin out and rain on the way. It feels like rain is on the way.

Rebo whatever that pic is comes up blank for me. I am assumin’ it’s a pic of tp cause what would make me happier than knowin’ you have a stockpile, right?

doggio prayers and good thoughts headed out to your mom.

Nava glad the talk with the lawyer went well. Agin’ parents are no fun to deal with. Thankfully my 82 year old mom is in pretty good health. She takes no prescribed meds and is active.

Ok, off in search of more caffiene and to feed rumbly tummy. Then irk purtification must commence.

Happy FIRDAY y’all!

ETA: I tried one more time and the pic came up! Rebo it warms my heart cockles to see that.

Good morning all - whew, it’s finally FIRDAY! I’m up and caffeination is in progress.

Sending healing thoughts to your mother, DB, and keeping you both in thoughts and prayers. Good news on the outcome of your talk w/the lawyers, Nava, and sorry for the sad anniversary today - many hugs to you.

Hope everyone has a good day today, as much as possible - at least it’s (nearly) the weekend.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. Thanks for the prayers and wishes.

Glad the talk with the lawyer went well, Nava. Sorry about the anniversary.

Blurf.

Some progress on a couple of different fronts to report.

Last night, I found the wardrobe boxes in the back fambly room and put the duds away. Now there is enough free space back there to swing a cat, and I spent half an hour looking for Booger just so I could try.

I got to bed around 10 last night, and woke up at 0530 today, instead of the 0330 that has happened since I started camping. Amazingly, I’m less grumpy today…

I have the expected buyer’s remorse, relocation edition happening. If all goes as it has in the past, this will last about a week. I hate it when I second guess myself.

I can’t think of enough other items to use up all of the smilies from the list. :smack: At least I have a sufficient amount of pronouns for today.

I saw a black faced vulture perched on a road sign yesterday; I thought I left them behind in NC. Carrion. :stuck_out_tongue:
ETA: Buddy hugs for Doggio. Save the tatas.

Yay it’s FIRDAY!

Soon to be getting ready to see the dentist. I have some tiny cavities they’re going to “seal” I think they called it.

Dad’s hanging in there. Slightly improving.

{{{DogButler}}} - I’m sorry about your mom.

Nava, I’m glad you feel better. Knowledge is a powerful tool!

Howdy Y’all from irk! I’m takin’ a turn at the front desk answerin’ the phones and such. We don’t have anybody to do that on Firday so, everybody gets a turn. I said I’d do it for the mornin’. I can do this and deal with the paperirk I need to get done as well. For now however I’s on a break!

Nava forgot to say earlier, sorry about the sad anniversary day. I have two of those each year, January 31st when my younger brother died and April 3rd when my dad died. They get a little easier with time but still sad, so know how you’re feelin’ today.

BBBobbio sounds like things are better. Yay on findin’ the clothes and not havin’ to go to irk nekkid.

Ok, reckon I should get back to irk stuff.

At least it’s Firday!

{{{doggio and mom}}}
{{{Nava}}}

Praying, doggio. I’ll light some evil Papist candles for your mum.
It’s Friday. Unfortunately Friday means nothing this week because Mr. Lissar is gone all weekend, so actually I have a thirteen-day week. :frowning:

I have stared at my stomach a lot and decided that I need to lose between five and ten pounds, and possibly start working out again. I have never done this before. I am going to try the “Don’t eat so fucking much” diet, plus increasing our vegetable intake. We’ll see.
