Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ on what appears to be another gloriously warm day.
Yay on the weight loss mmmmmm!
chiz though I don’t think I’d buy tickets like that it does not bother me to spend a couple of hundred dollars at the grocery store or to spend money on stuff for da cave. However, gas prices goin’ up like they have, well that just chaps my hide!
BBBobbio yay on the forthcomin’ deheathenization. I gather y’all found Luteruns nearby. Since you have an unpacked kitchen I suppose you’ll make brekkies first.
MOOOOOOM wakin’ up to find out you haven’t burned your house down is a good feelin’ ain’t it!
Today we shall deheathenate, of course, then I shall defilthyfy da cave. It needs it bad. Well, it’s not filthy to the point of violatin’ health codes but still it needs a spiff up.
Off in search of more caffiene and brekkies. I have a kinda hankerin’ for pancakes and bacon. We shall see.
We got six inches of snow overnight. Baby didn’t sleep well. I think we’ll make it out for napkin-buying but not down to church. Muppet and I have banded together and no-one’s getting out without eating half their bodyweight in snacks.
I should tidy more but I’m getting to the This-is-my-house-and-I’ve-got-small-children-stuff-it stage.
I’m having a clothing swap. I craftily asked her if she wanted to cook anything.
I’m doing premade samosas and this cake except I did a second one with lemons instead and with cocoa added. I’m also doing roasted broccoli ($3/lb! Robbery!). Muppet’s making a ham and cheese ring and cookies and homemade chutney.
I think there are six people coming. Everyone has to eat until they fall over
Busy week, busy weekend to go with it. We went to a local zoo yesterday and had lots of fun doing one of their keeper experience days - we got to feed the bat-eared foxes, meerkats and otters. We also got a guided tour of the tropical house with it’s free-flying birds and bats, and roaming marmosets…and had the rest of the day to wander around the zoo and look at the rest of the animals.
Today has been cold, miserable and wet. I went out to deliver some leaflets for my local councillor and apart from that I’ve largely spent the day vegging on the sofa watching episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and Sons of Anarchy.
Haven’t had much time to keep up with The Dope, so I am just going to throw around a bunch of (((((hugs))))) to everyone because I’m sure we could all do with a few.
Off for a bath now, and then more loafing around in my jammies. Had a text from my mum to say that she’s started her journey home from New Zealand (via Hong Kong) and she should be back in the UK on Wednesday. I may be going to see her at the weekend to hear all about her fantastic trip.
We’ve got a couple of honeycomb blinds for the front window, so I had to get the window frame primed and painted finally - it’s been almost a year… I’ve primed it. Later today, I should be able to paint it.
**FCD **and daughter have gone to look at a Miata. I’m about to start laundry and putting together the last afghan. The kiln is under 500° so I may be able to unload it tonight. I’ve got Roxanne on Netflix and Cozmo is locked up downstairs. Life is good.
Hey, BBBobbio, which convenience center do you use - St. Andrews? Or is there one closer to you.
Howdy Y’all! Deheathenated, lunched and well into cave defilthyfyin’. The master bedroom has been dusted and the kitchen and both bathrooms have been cleaned except for bein’ mopped. Next up is the livin’ and dinin’ rooms then the guest bedroom, study and hallway. After that’s all dusted and such, comes vacuumin’ and moppin’. Also need to get the outside vac out and vacuum the garage and back porch. I’s gone be a tahrd bear!
I wanna eat with LiLi and Muppet. YUM!
St. Andrew is the patron saint of convenience centers? Who’d a thunk it!
I was thinking, swampy, that if we ever got you up here visiting and the three of us got together- and maybe roped taxi in- we’d all gain about 2134953560 pounds in an afternoon. It would be glorious.
Yesterday was laundry, grocery, Target, Toys R Us, vacuuming, dusting, more laundry etc. We went out for an early dinner as we skipped lunch then we were in bed by 9.30. Wild and crazy party people that we are.
Today was brekkie, printing out taxes and getting the paperwork signed to mail off tomorrow, wrapping birthdy pressies and printing out 20 trees worth of paperwork to start the Greencard application. However I have done all this in my jammies so life is good. mr ems has finished re-lining the kitchen cabinets for me that I started last weekend after the never ending renovation project in exchange for me dealing with taxes and Greencard paperwork. I considered that a deal.
LiLi if we also got mmmmmms and Rebo in on the cookin’ I think we could make Toronto explode from excess food consumption. I know we can add others in the mix also. Heck, we need a Mumper cookin’ expo. Everybody makin’ their signature dish(es). Can you imagine if we did every recipe in the blog and then dug in to eat it all? All I can imagine is… KA*BOOOM!!!
We’d all explode. Or implode. Or Asplode.
Defilthyfyin’ update…
Livin’ room, dinin’ room, guest bedroom, hallway, back porch and garage all spiffed. Well, except for moppin’ and vacuumin’ which shall commence shortly. Then it’ll be all done. I needed me a glass of iced tea.
So. There is this big empty wall on one of the stairway landings in the casa. We’ve always talked about getting one of those big, gaudy clocks to hang there. Yesterday, TBW and I were at Ikea and walked past little 9 inch black and white wall clocks.
She says (note me giving her credit for the idea, when it would be easy for me to just hijack it, because how would she know, right?) "you know what would be funny? If we got a bunch of those and did like they do in news rooms or airports where they have clocks all set to different city time zone. We could do it for where your mom is, where TBK and Fiance are, where your sister is… "
So I just hung the four clocks. Looks kinda cool. One set for Eastern Time for the sister, two set for Central time, one for us, one for The Kid and one set for Tucson for mom.
Once I find appropriate labels or signage, I’ll post pics.
Just another ordinary day in FairyChatEstates where I did laundry and dishes and painting while **FCD **bought himself a car. Our garage now holds a 2008 Mazda MX5 hard top Miata with just over 16K miles. Literally owned by a little old lady who traded it in on a BMW Z4. My sweetie is happy. And by dropping our housecleaning service, we’ll only be spending a coupla hunnert more a month, and part of that will be offset by better fuel economy.
We’ve got a pile of stuff on the porch for AMVETS -they’ll be coming tomorrow sometime. I hope there are 2 of them in the truck - the TV is heavy!! While we were moving it, it slipped and we broke a little of the plastic trim.
I’ve opened the kiln - it was just a bit over 200° so I figured it was safe to lift the lid and air cool it. I’ll unload tomorrow. I’m too tired tonight.
I’m hearing thunderboomers in the background. (Or perhaps it’s just people exploding from the food? )
i was going to do laundry, but instead I’m knitting. I’ve just finished the yoke of my sweater and started in on the body. I’m very pleased with it so far.
Guess I should disconnect and continue with the knitting…
I’ve got an idea for the next MMP, so I’ll try to get us started a bit later tonight.
I got home with groceries around 3:30. At first all three dogs went out in the front yard, and then I got them all back inside. I finished up bringing in the groceries, and sat down for a bit after putting all the frozen stuff away.
After about an hour, I finished putting up the groceries. I found the dog toy I had bought for a $1. I squeaked it, and Ernie came. And Lucy came. No Dipsey. I checked all the rooms. I checked the garage. I checked the back yard.
Oh no.
I looked under the bed. I looked under the futon. I looked under Dad’s bed. No dice.
OMG!
I went out front and whistled. No Dipsey. I then got my keys and jumped in the car and cruised the neighborhood. I asked several people had they seen him. Nope.
OMG! OMG! OMG!
I drove past THE HOUSE. The previous owners house. They were outside. I tried not to look at them, but I peeked out of the corner of my eye.
OMG! OMG! OMG!
Dipsey was in the older sister’s lap! I pulled over and walked up to them. Dipsey ran to me, and I scooped him up. I kept walking and told her, “Thank you so much.”
She kind of nodded, and said, "What happened?
I told her he must have gotten out while I was bringing in groceries. “How long has he been here? About an hour?”
She said yes, and I thanked her again.
I put him in the car, and we came home.
God, that could have been really bad. I’m glad they were nice about it.
