Afternoon all. Went out for my Moanday JJ’s #7 and decided to go shopping for some new slippers…five stores later I gave up and ordered them on-line. Only place that had anything near what I wanted was Belk’s and they were way over-priced. Did pick up some nice throw pillows from Kohl’s, so it wasn’t a total loss.
33F outside and probably not going to get any warmer, so the league cancelling soccer looks like a very good idea.
Nut, for days like that, I just go to the smallest room in the house and scream. Not to long, and I don’t have next-wall neighbors like you probably do, but sometimes ya have to do what you have to do…
Juliet, ruble, I learned (as I expect you have), to try to keep it to a couple questions or just answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the original question.
Howdy Y’all! Da cave is all spiffed and sanitized. Ok, at least one would not catch any really awful diseases from bein’ here. I call that a win. Been a chilly day. I even turned the heat on again. I have been a little bit bad. I have ignored a call for volunteers to serve at Ash Wednesday services. I shall attend, of course, but I just want to be in a pew bein’ all prayerful, contemplative, and meditative, receive ashes, receive Communion and get back to da cave. Also, I hauled my neighbor’s and my biiiiiiiiiig trash cans all the way from the road to where they stay all week.
To all of you with ice and snow, better thee than me.
I don’t believe I ever mentioned what kind of plants they were, actually. Basically it’s a catch all for the contents of the college micropropagation lab (annoyingly on a site almost an hour’s drive from my house or my branch of the college) at which I’m sort of volunteering at. These specific plants are eeny weeny baby Cyathea tree ferns, left over from my project.
Their purpose is simply to be plants. They’re getting better at it.
Some. Round here, definitely, it’s the mildest part of the country.
Further north it’s a bit hit-and-miss. Generally people only grow Dicksonia antarctica, but in sheltered spots round here, you can basically grow anything that’ll grow in New Zealand.
blurfage went grocery shopping on my lunch break. Tonight shall be that old standby- spaghetti. I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’. Sleepy. Gonna jet out a smidge early. Tomorrow is another day.
The stress is palpable about getting this project JUST RIGHT. The contract says that my work isn’t due for almost 2 months… but let’s show the customer completed stuff early! Ugh. But regardless, I’m taking a long weekend. I’m going to bring my daughter to Illinois, visit my sister for a couple days, and on the way back from Illinois, I’m taking a me-night. I’m going to see the symphony, stay in a hotel, get take out dinner, binge watch TV, wake up whenever I want… I’m so looking forward to spending the night in a hotel just me.
My husband bought himself a $100 bottle of liquor with part of our tax return. For that cost, I get a night in a hotel, a big dinner at a guilty-pleasure chain restaurant, a ticket to the symphony… I think I got the better end of the deal.
Poor kid. She’s really not feeling well. It’s so hard to hear your child cry.
It’s a viral infection so they can only let it run its course.
I’m the science guy in the family. The kids come to me for math homework and to explain rainbows and green grass. But there isn’t anything like having mommy when you’re sick.
When the kids were smaller, they was the primary caregiver for a while and they wanted daddy. Now our schedules are reversed.
At least I could be a substitute u til the real thing came home.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 37 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark) with a predicted high of 54 and mostly N.O.S. this afternoon. Today is laundry day. Woohoo. This bein’ Shrove Tuesday AKA Mardi Gras, we shall have the traditional pancakes, snausage, and bacon feast over to the church house tonight. This is a fundraiser for our Deacon’s discretionary fund and is usually well-attended and rakes in several hundred dollars for Deacon Joy’s fund. All donations are voluntary so no set price. However, a lot of folks tend to be generous. Anywho, I shall betake myself over to the church house around flourish to assist with preparations and cookin’. I am in charge of bacon, of course. I shall also help serve. Always a fun time.
Icarus, mayhaps we shall call you wings, we have a freeze warning in effect for the night. Winter is havin’ one last hello. I have an UGA edjukasion and remember the February freeze in Athens. There would be sleet or an ice storm. Durin’ the day the temp would warm up enough to start meltin’ ice but the streets would be wet. The temp would drop below freezin’ at night and the streets would have ice again in the mornin’. I swear this happened every February while I wa at UGA.
TB poor daughter! Hope she feels better soonest.
Juliet as much as I appreciate good liquor, I think you got the better end of the deal.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
I slept pretty well last night, but I’m coughing like crazy this morning. Stupid tickle in the back of my throat will NOT go away. I have a bag of cough drops, and I see cocoa or tea throughout the day to try to soothe it. ugh.
Other than that, back to work. Cold here, too, but we’re promised several days in a row sans precip - maybe the foundation for the building will finally be finished! Once it’s under roof, things should go a lot faster. I hope.
It’s cold outside, 19 feels like 9.
I guess the cat is out there, I don’t see him anywhere in the house.
I called for him but he didn’t come.
All my laundry is caught up except for a load of washcloths, but since I have plenty of those, there is no rush.
Leftover pork roast and broccoli for dinner for me.
Probably tacos again for my son.
We need to get groceries, I think we can hold out until Thorsday when it will be slightly warmer.
Swampy no nekkid bacon frying at the church house. Metalmouse Part of your post made me laugh. It’s almost vulgar.
Irk late today. Just overslept but I am here now. I have a slight headache today which sucks.
