All that for $100???
I stayed in a Motel 5[sup]3/4[/sup] Firday evening (for all of about 6 hrs) for about ½ of that cost. I strongly considered stealing the ‘towel’ afterwards, as I have never, ever, ever seen a piece extra-course sandpaper that large before. (Though I did enjoy the wi-fi password of “lightson”

Hope she’s better today.
IMHO, “at the church house” is an unnecessary qualifier.
I didn’t want to go out into the cold today but it looks like I have to.
The doctor’s office finally called in my prescription and it’s ready.
I should take Ripple to get him out of the house, but I’d like to stop at the store on the way home and get some hamburger rolls for my son’s dinner. He can have hamburgers instead of tacos.
Ripple would probably flip out if I left in him in the truck by himself.
Yep… got the hotel room for about $70, budgeted $25 for dinner, and the ticket for the symphony was $15 (partially obstructed view… but it’s a symphony, not a play. I don’t need to see.) So it’s a smidge over $100.
Just got done at the dentist. I needed a crown (actually, I need 2, but we’re doing it one at a time for financial reasons). When they do a crown, it’s a lot of grinding and scariness and I still need to go back in 2 weeks to get the final crown. I just have a temporary crown on right now. I’m at work, trying to calm myself down and get back to feeling normal after the Novocaine and happy gas. I’m still going to put in a full day… I’ll be here until 7 tonight. Ugh… today sucks. Come on Friday!
A real question from Twenty Questions once was “You know that thang Thang did with that other Thang for that production thang?”
I simply replied 42 and left it at that quickly walking away.
Best to her and you as well. As a fellow respiratory sufferer my best vibes your way.

Gasping for breath
Wheezing through the night
And getting no rest
Just wanting some air
Before the night is through?

Hard to keep a smile

Bronchitis really sucks when it happens to you.
a) If you do something, overdo something. Be it fractured lyrics or explosions.
b) I clearly spend way too much time drinking with the Electric Amish.
In spite of the low low temps there is no ice this morning. And it is sunny so the Dawg pups are all running around in shorts and t-shirts (silly kids and their underdeveloped frontal cortexes).
I hate to say it, but did you try Wally World? They’re the only place around here that sometimes has size 14 anything to fit my [del]big[/del] manly feet. I’m wearing a pair of their slippers right now and I have a pair of $29 Dr. Scholl’s tennies in my closet that I’ve had for ~ 3 years. I switch them off with my expensive S.A.S. shoes.
I made mango curry for dinner last night. It tastes just like the mango curry from the good Thai place in the next town up the highway, except I didn’t put as much curry in so that I could taste the various lumps. I need to find time to write down what I put in before I forget, except portions were ad-libbed and I didn’t really measure, so we’ll fill the details in next time.
Wifey is doing Atkins (sort of) right now, so she didn’t have any curry. Fixed herself a steak and a salad for dinner last night. Makes it harder on me to prepare dinners as almost all of my recipes involve carbs of some kind. I suppose we’ll survive. :dubious:
Having a conversation with Wifey is kinda confusing 'cause she’ll start a new sentence before she’s through with the last one. I’m supposed to fill in the blanks. Or she’ll take up in the middle of a conversation she left off 2 weeks ago and I’m supposed to remember what she’s on about. Or she’ll say “Michelle did X” and I’m supposed to figure out from the context which of the 6 Michelles we know it is about. And I don’t dare ask questions, or I’ll get ‘the look’.
Getting really frustrated with facebook starting over from the beginning every time i set my phone down. I’m generally annoyed with them anyway. Yesterday I discovered that hey had somehow found my phone number and put it into my profile. I get enough bogus sales calls as it is.
Well, got all the soccer information out to the parents and booked my vacation travel (air and rail) for June/July. Next is hotels, probably hold off until tomorrow on that. Rental cars I can do most anytime, since those get paid for when I pick them up. But want to get all the ‘early’ costs done this month while I can.
Bumba, ended up ordering two pairs of size 12’s from WalMart. Should have them by Firday (paid a little extra for shipping).

Howdy y’all! I see the board’s back up. I began a post yesterday, but when I hit post, I was informed that the Dope was offline. So I’ll start from the beginning.
swampy, I’m beginning to be stoked for being in spitting distance of retirement. Should I retire at 62, it will be six more years, 67 five years more.
sari, if nothing is falling from the sky and the dog park isn’t under water, I’ll take Nelson even when it’s pretty cold out. I dress warmly, put his coat on him and keep it fairly brief, but he gets to have some off leash time out of it.
I’m a bit like wet one in that I enjoy my job, but getting up so !@#$ing early is wearing.
ruble, your birthday (and, IIRC, your brother’s) is the day after Sis in Houston, aka Nelson’s godmother.
TB, I hope your daughter is feeling better soon.
sari, prolly too late, but you could order online and do curbside pickup for the hamburger rolls.
Ma Nature is hitting the crack pipe again. Last Wednesday, it hit 72F. The last two mornings, it’s been below freezing when I went to irk.
My main heathen group is changing venues this month and the new one has facilities for a potluck. Since our speaker will present a talk on food waste and home gardening, we’ve been encouraged to wear our hippie farmer clothes and bring a dish featuring veggies. I’m taking lentil stuffed aigplant. The heathen children will be making an interactive carrot patch out of paper plates and other paper pieces.
Well, Beta-Chan (my daughter, the old timers know the name )managed to get through the night. She wanted to go to the doctor again last night because she hurt all over. Yup. Done that. Been there. Bronchitis isn’t fun. My wife is staying home with her today.
Evening all. Went out a bit ago to mail bills, and since I was out, stopped at Burger King for a Whopper and fries. Oh well, a few hundred extra calories ain’t too bad…
Temperature is about 34F, never did get above 40F today. Supposed to be somewhat warmer tomorrow–we’ll see.
TB, hoping today (or tomorrow for you by now) will see some improvement in Daughter-Chan.
spidey, I await your insurance rant; I’m sure it’ll be a good one.
Red, in my 50’s I planned to retire at 65; by the time I turned 60 I was doing all the math and finally got out at 62. If the money is right, I’d go for it, if I was you.
FCM, may the cough depart and the ice cream arrive.
Six years to 62 but only five years to 67? Is you sister to Benjamin Buttons?
Arse has been kicked, but I still need to wait for answers; I think my bank changed my bill pay info & therefore the insurance co kicked the payment back. Why no one said anything to me, & why I still have insurance after the now second late* payment, I don’t know.
Both were paid on-time, early even, but then were kicked back & credited back to my bank acct. I thought I had a nice, big, fat balance. (I also made a CC payment that never went thru) ::Sigh::
Got up yestidy moaning, went to the loo, flushed, &…nothing. Took off the lid, the other end of the chain had separated. I reattached it, & it worked for about two more flushes; therefore this evening, I went over to the Home Despot; didja know they sell 1920’s era female dancers? Terlet is now working properly again.
Howdy Y’all! Home from the festivities over to the church house. Actually, been home about an hour but doin’ other stuff. Had a big crowd tonight which is always great cause this is a fundraiser for our Deacon’s discretionary fund and we love our Deacon Joy! Food was plentiful and got all et up as well. I’s tahred and will soon go beddy bye.
red like MetalMouse said, do the calculations and determine if retirement at 62 is enough money. I always said I’d hang on until 66 but then figured out it would be a couple hundred more a month if I waited until then so I decided to go at 62. I do not regret. I do not regret at all. Almost three years now and I still wake up every mornin’ and think, “YAY! I don’t have to go to irk!”
metal mouse, a lot of it depends upon how well my 401K is doing. At 62, I’ll be on the hook for 100% of my medical insurance for the first five years, so I want to make sure that’s doable. If I wait until 67, all there is is Part D.
