Made it through yesterday with minimal trauma and only a moderate amount of crying, thanks to friends like you and the cats. What does it say about my efficiency or total lack of a life during lockdown that I got up, dressed, picked up Mexican take-out from the drive-thru down the block (machaca & eggs - YUM!), brought it home, ate it, fed the cats, went out the other direction for some mostly cat things and am now home with a load of laundry going and it isn’t even 9am? On a Sunday!! Of a 3-day weekend!!!
On the plus side, there is enough wet & dry fud, litter and Redi-Whip stocked to last both the indoor and outdoor kitties until the end of February. With the way they eat and poop that amounts to a crapload of cat supplies in the garage.
Pecan pie turned out well, except for the crust. I think I should have underbaked it when I did the blind baking part, because it ended up getting overdone.
And my pie pan is a bit too shallow. I used to have some deep dish pie pans as well, but I think I decided to get rid of them. Or they are buried in an upper cabinet. The filling went over and my formerly clean-ish oven is not so clean.
It’s their “We’ve been good and haven’t pooped in your shoes…yet” treat in the evening. Started years ago with just Caelan. He went after my pie topping one night and we discovered that he just loved whipped cream. So that would be his irregular treat. None of the other cats gave a whisker about it. Until now. Tango thinks the stuff is crack and Pixel has decided that she wants in on the action. Havoc seems to be the only one immune, since her monkey is French Vanilla ice cream. If they haven’t been too naughty, I’ll spray a large glob on a spoon and let them tongue-wrestle to see who gets the most.
Back from the nail place, so typing is an adjustment. They’re the length I wanted, I’m just not used to them any more. Too much hand sanitizer has trashed my natural nails.
Aside from laundry, sloth is the major plan of the day.
Brought back lovely/sad memories of Rocky (RIP, boy) who would not let me go to bed without supplying his nightly spray of whipped cream on a finger. He was such a good boy.
If Havoc chooses french vanilla ice cream over redi-whip, have you thought of adding a touch of vanilla to the redi-whip so Havoc can participate in the tongue-wrestling?
Havoc is much too refined to engage in such foolishness. Her Majesty will deign to lick from the spoon of melted French Vanilla (or Dulce de Leche) only if it is held properly and exclusively for her.
Remember as a kid (or watching your kids) the one person who, upon getting a soft-serve cone, didn’t lick it but just bit off a big hunk from the top? That’s Tango.
Pizzas are in the oven - and smelling mighty fine! I dumped some herbs into the crust, too. FCD is having pepperoni, onions, and black olives. I’m having onions and 'shrooms. This could become a habit.
I had a good walk, and I’ve been crocheting, so there’s some productivity. Mostly, a nice, chill day. I get the RoxStar tomorrow because her parents will be removing the last of their crap from our house, and they can’t take her in the truck. So while they do their moving, I’ll wrangle.
OMG - the pizzas were sooooooo good! I started a thread in the Cafe asking what kind of beer I should use in the dough, since the recipe calls for beer. It said water was an acceptable substitute, but I think beer would add flavor. So if you have suggestions, do pop over to the other thread and share.
Meanwhile, I’m done for tonight. Time to crochet the evening away.
Afternoon evening all. Dinner at the Diner was good, had to wait about a half-hour for a seat, though. All Sudoku’s and jumbles solved, so outside of the Browns losing, it has been a pretty good day.
Now need to prepare the next week’s agenda and go watch some more tackleball.
FCM, not a pizza lover, but happy you got a good result. Can’t suggest any beer in particular, will let the true devotees give you their opinions.
quietly, spray enough whipped cream on that spoon and your kitties don’t stand a chance (another item I can’t keep in the house due to my…over-enthusiasm…
nut, hope you get settled in and have had a good night’s sleep by the time you’re reading this.
BBBoo, we have a Batteries and Bulbs store about 4 miles away and it’s my go-to for this. Did find a battery but the back side won’t click shut, so maybe that’s what happened to it.
OK, off to tackleball and I’ll catch everyone on the next MMP.
Moooooom, I watch a lot of Pluto. So many choices! As far as beer for the pizza crust, my recommendation is nothing fancy, just lawn mower beer.
Sunday chores are done, playing in the studio accomplished and a new dish, with a couple of modifications is found tasty enough to go into regular rotation (Italian sausage-mushroom-pepper bake).
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, stole The General’s chikin, chilled, and accomplished nappage. All in all a busy Sunday! I some how remembered tomorrow is a holiday in the U.S. of A. and did not haul the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup as it will not get picked up tomorrow. Now if I can just remember I need to do so tomorrow evenin’.
MOOOOOOM I doubt pizza dough knows from Natty Light and snob beer.
.
Howdy, y’all. I was without internet for a bit at home, and meanwhile was saving my data plan for crucial tasks, such as Plants vs Zombies.
Then I just sort of fell out of the habit of checking in with the MMP, but dammit, I miss you chatty bunch.
Currently eating mac’n’cheese straight outta the pot, cuz I’m classy like that.
But at least I was productive after irk today (probably helps that I, ah, bought a few things there before leaving) and managed to wash both some dishes AND a load of laundry - and that’s already hanging to dry.
I did not remember until I was already at the curb, and noticed that nobody else on the whole block had theirs out.
However, since I work late tomorrow and will not wanna hafta deal with it then, I left it.
Now I probably look like an ass who doesn’t care about MLK Day.
Apartment is clean, made a beer and potato run, and did a Penzey’s pick up order. Poke loin and sweet N.O.T.s with rosemary pepper cauliflower for dinner.
Thanks, you two. It’s nice to have “company” again.
I hadn’t realized how much I lean on Google Home for something resembling social interaction - asking it for the next day’s weather, or the local news, and at least hearing a human voice in return. The cats are sweet, but they don’t make great conversationalists.
