The I Don't Have A Topic MMP

Mrs. L.A. is irking me a little. We have some cheap-ass tequila ($19 for 1.5 litres + $10 taxes) for margaritas. It’s perfectly OK for that, and it’s what we usually drink. Since we were talking about ‘sipping tequila’, I bought a bottle of Dobel Diamante on the recommendation of the girl at the liquor store. It’s really good. Nice smoky taste from barrel-aging. It’s usually $75/bottle, but the liquor store got some that was assigned to another establishment and they had it for $35. Mrs. L.A. is using it for margaritas. She says it’s too ‘something’ for drinking straight. Oh, the pain! To be fair, it’s good in a margarita (I had a taste of hers); but it seem like such a waste!

Me, I’m drinking it unadulterated by anything. No water, no ice, and certainly no margarita ix.

Dinner was our leftover taco salads from last night (shredded beef for me, shredded chicken for her).

Evening all. Was at soccer from 10am to 5pm with one hour-long break, so I am a bit tired. Almost fell asleep watching the tackleball game but I seldom sleep while sitting (if I make the mistake of laying down before bedtime however…).

Didn’t tell you about the strange occurrence this morning with my watch. I have a basic Timex that I’ve used for years. When I got up this morning and went to put it on pre-soccer, the back of the watch was off and the battery had disappeared. Nothing else had been disturbed, my wallet was right next to it and hadn’t been touched, some food stuff was right there and hadn’t been touched, just the watch battery disappearing…strange.

Anyway, got a new ($38) watch at Wal-Mart, we’ll see if if survives the night. Also got a couple new pairs of slip-on sneakers for around the house delivered (on-time!!), so things are good here.

Nut, happy you have arrived and that there is a place for you (be it ever so humble). Have fun uncrambling the car tomorrow.

Butters, hope targets is all you ever have to shoot. Never owned a gun in my life (neither of my parents owned one) but I can understand why you do. Hang in there, the training has to end sometime…(I hope)

Nettie, I’ll take some of that 72F off your hands. Not supposed to be much about 50F this coming week.

red, soon meant ‘after the plague’. Hang in there.

{{quietly}}, because it sounds like you could stand a couple.

flyboy, ah the curse of the fine-drinking man. I wouldn’t know one alcohol form another.

OK, need to fix some dinner and back to watching tackleball. All y’all take care.

Has anyone ever suggested to you that you might sleep walk? This is exactly the kind of thing a sleep walker might do. Especially given no one else with opposable thumbs was in your house.

So, all in all, a good thing that there are no guns in your house.

{{{silenus}}}

Yay! on getting the hard part of the move done nut.

butters, here’s hoping that all you have to ever shoot is a target.

Got the laundry done, the floors swept and mopped and band aids resupplied at Walgreens. Supper was from the cheap Chinese down the street. Nappage was even accomplished.

Packers win! WOOOOO! Canes lose. BOOOOO!

: heaves 75lbs mattress into the International bin :
but glad you made it, Nut, even if your one roomie is not ideal.

I avoid BB&B since they tried to rip off a local shop.

What ya packin’, Butters? and {{{{hugs}}}}

Believe it or not, but I actually thought about you and this before I pushed the reply button., but I reeaaally wanted nuttie to have a nice comfy bed soonest.

Made scones for breakfast, served with clotted cream from Devonshire (local specialty shop imports it) and local jam, plus bacon and lattes. Shortly going to go for a walk in the slightly melty snow.

Yesterday I slipped on an icy spot and undid some of my work on my left foot. Need to make sure I do some good stretching and other exercises, in addition to today’s walk, to make sure it doesn’t get worse.

Figured out that I did miss the deadline for the U.S. taxes, and I can’t get access to my U.S. accounts because the bank is closed on Saturday, and will be closed on Monday as well. Stupid security isn’t set up for non-US residents. I had a cookie set on my computer, but I guess it disappeared so I can’t login again. A bit annoying.

My own fault for missing the deadline.

Anyway, going to try a recipe for pecan pie which calls for maple syrup instead of corn syrup and do some German homework. Not very exciting, but excitement can be overrated.

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 27 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 56 and maybe mostly N.O.S. for the day. Or not. TWPTB are all willy-nilly about this. The big plan of the day is to deheathenate virtually. Outside of that, who knows. We shall swipe The General’s chikin for N.O.L. Any need to feed beyond that will be via forage. I am at the point of my prep for Wednesday mornin’s big adventure where I don’t eat green veggies, fruits, or multigrain breads. I so want to get this over!

Butters glad you have so far survived trainin’. Of all the things I don’t have to deal with since I became a retired drain on society, I think trainin’ just may be the one I am most happy about. Good on you for takin’ that gun safety class.

Die do let us know how that pee-kahn pie turns out. I am intrigued about the use of maple syrup.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! Just sitting here cooling off after an hour’s workout…pint of fruit squash and a strong cup of tea  It’s cloudy and overcast, weather app says “This is the perfect day to stay inside, eat pizza, and wish it was fucking warmer” along with temperatures of 7C/45F all day. I have no pizza but I’m quite prepared to stay inside for the rest of the day.

nut congrats on a safe move to your new lodgings, hope the idiot tenant is someone you can keep clear of if he’s acting like a right wankpuffin.

metalmouse it’s our NHS, the only way it would be worse would be if the government ran it…

Butters glad you made it through the training, it’s one part of the job that I hate when it’s just reading process documents, I’d much rather be doing something practical.

Die I hope you constructed your scone according to the rules of Devon and not Cornwall, that kind of thing has ruined relationships over here!

{{{Silenus}}} keeping busy to forget things is a good way to deal with it. And it means chores are done early so there’s bonus free time on a day when life looks better!

So…critters were fed and watered when I got up, farcebook’s been perused, workout’s done and the only other thing on my agenda today is a soak in the bath. That might be next, then I can spend the rest of the day vegging on the sofa with a book or two. Sounds like a perfect Sunday afternoon!

Weatherfolk predicted flurries overnight, but apparently not here. Suits me fine, tho it is sub-freezing. And BooFae, the weather comment about pizza is spot on for here - I plan to make bread-machine pizza dough for pizza tonight. Must be a psychic app!!

And a BP question for BBBoo - I’ve been keeping a BP log for almost a month now and I notice the numbers can be all over the place. I know one’s BP varies according to time of day, food, activities… is there a way I can ensure I’m keeping an accurate accounting? The idea is to determine if I still need to take both BP meds (she’s taken me off one for now) or if the dosage needs to be adjusted. I’ve tried googling, but couldn’t get clear answers. All the doc said was to no do it less than an hour before taking my meds - well, I measure in the morning and take my meds before bed.

Not sure what today holds other than pizza-making. I guess I’ll make it up as I go along. Happy Sunday!

Youse wudda loved the guy at the grocery a couple of days ago. This was a lovely specialty grocery that I don’t often get to visit, and I was foraging through their wonderful prepacked dinners section. This guy was over at the staff-serve counter, where you have to ask for stuff to be ladled out in the desired quantity. So he asked for whatever, in a perfectly normal polite tone. But he had the kind of voice that sounded like he was talking though a bullhorn with the power set to “maximum”. You could have heard him three blocks away, and I must have jumped straight up a couple of inches. I swear the windows were rattling.

Later on I saw him again, in a lineup to get to the checkout that was blocking my exit from the aisle. A lady asked me if I was in line, and I said no, I was just trying to get the hell out of the aisle. The fellow noticed he was in the way, and politely said:

:loud_sound: OH, EXCUSE ME! :loud_sound:

My ears are still ringing!

He appeared to have a wife with him. I’m sure she’s hard of hearing. If she wasn’t before, she sure would be by now.

I find myself wondering what he sounds like when he actually yells. It should be classified as a lethal weapon.

wolfie, loved your story, I remember refereeing indoor soccer a few years ago with a guy like that, very nice man and great with the kids, but a voice that put the BOOM in booming. Had another guy refereeing with me that day, a very proper Englishman who was always the model of decorum, so I made sure he was on the side of the gym next to this guy. The shock on his face…

boofae, if you don’t like the NHS, come try the US medical system sometime… And good to know somebody else enjoys soaking in the bath in the middle of the day.

DieC, easy on the foot; hope it heals soon. And let us (heck, me) know how the pecan pie comes out; sounds delicious.

BBBoo, never have sleepwalked to my knowledge, hope I’m not developing bad habits in my dotage. Have reexamined the watch and not sure if the batter is missing or not (can’t even see where the rascal goes), so might stop by the battery store and see if they have a replacement.

Up with a slight sore throat this morning, but otherwise sound of mind (HA!) and body (and again, HA!). Temps will be up to 50F today and will be dining on Meatloaf at the Metro Diner in a couple of hours. Outside of that nothing much on the agenda.

All y’all take care.

I need this. Now.

Back from a quick grocery run. Time to pull the towels out of the dryer - they’ve been there since yesterday afternoon…

Thanks for the battery store idea💡~ I never would have thought of that for my watches but it is no doubt cheaper than having jewelry stores replacing the battery in my watches. Said because I have one languishing in my purse now and I’ve been avoiding taking myself into yet another store to attract more maskhole virus germs.

I buy cheap (<$13) women’s Casio analog watches on Amazon because I just have to have an analog watch for my analog time sense brain. Need those pie wedge shaped time blocks to organize myself. My granddaughter calls mine “hickory, dickory dock watches”. At ~$13 or less, I’ll just get another nice new Casio with its fresh battery delivered and skip the $7 battery change at the jewelry maskhole store. Of course by the time I manage to get my vaccines in my {ahem} “vaccine, we don’t need no stinking vaccine” denying state I’ll have 3 watches sitting on my dresser. Oh well.

I’m really in a fussed, bad mood this morning. I got a call from my SIL this morning as I was getting ready to leave for Harriet’ s for my day of Grandma-ing and & I can’t go because she is in quarantine again. They were notified by her preschool this morning that she had close contact with a potentially infected person and will be quarantining for two weeks. Meaning they will be wearing masks in their house with the 3 of them, except when eating and even I, with our strict bubble, can’t come over or her go to preschool later in the week. They’re trying to check in with the preschool director to find out exactly what kind of contact (fellow 3-5 year old preschool classmate or positive tested college-aged student teacher), so there is some possibility that I may be able to come over, depending. Since it’s Sunday and tomorrow is a state holiday and the preschool is at our state university, that clarifying information may not con]ne very fast. I was supposed to watch her tomorrow too for MLK day, so two whole days of pure Hattie have been snatched from me.

Whine, pout, sniffle. I’m trying to be mature about it, at least I have a granddaughter 15 minutes away and I am so very grateful for that, but piffle! and phooey!

I do have a mattress and a suitably comfy bed -and now a sheet, having just picked one up from Aldi- it’s only a duvet I’m short of, but I have a sleeping bag and plenty of blankets, so it’s fine. I’ll get something when I get a chance.

I had a bit of a wander round the area, hence the Aldi. It seems like a decent enough area, though a bit easy to get lost. I do need to find a car wash, because after that drive my car is absolutely covered with road salt (there was a snow warning, so it had all been freshly spread). Most of the car is now unpacked- I think I’ll need a hand with the last bit, 'cos it’s a bit bulky and awkward, then I just need to store it all, then pick up the last batch from Bristol, and find somewhere to store that

I just heard about this

https://www.macys.com/shop/product/cuisinart-ice-45-ice-cream-maker-soft-serve-mix-it-in?ID=214600

And it has the advantage of being available now, but I hear yah, sister. We both need one!

So glad to hear this! :sleeping_bed: I’ll sleep better knowing you have a comfy mattress :sleeping_bed: And it’s a good time of year to be buying a comforter-all those white sales. Get a nice thick fluffy one with one of your first paychecks-you deserve it.

Mornin’ all!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and binging on Dogs 101 (it was Nelson’s turn to choose :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Not a whole lot going on today except the usual Sunday chores.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

BBBoo - did you see my question for you above about blood pressure? Any education and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just discovered PlutoTV - Free and full of all sorts of shows and movies. Free is good! Off to explore it some more.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Cleaning day today, and also handegg. And either the upstairs neighbor was vacuuming at 0900, or she was giving Gordie’s brother butt skritches : mmmMMMmmmmMMMMmmmmmvrrrrrVRRRRRRRR :

wolfie, the Venn diagram of those people, and the speaker phone conversation people is nearly a perfect circle.

{{{{silenus}}}}

Nut, yay for bedding. Especially 78lbs. Mattress in a BoxTM that doesn’t to be heaved by me.
