the i need to build an ark MMP....

Happy Sunday!

It was a beautiful N.O.S. 45 degrees at the park this morning. By the time I was heading home it was getting cloudy. I think it is supposed to snowtonight and through tomorrow.
I don’t want to say that too loudly, no sense in giving Mother Nature any ideas.

I mentioned at the park that everytime I buy something warm, the temps go up. When I bought my heated socks it got warm, I got my balaclava, and it got warm. One woman suggested that they take up a collection for my warm clothes fund.

Echo is on my shit list this morning. I overslept, and when I was trying to get ready to leave, she would not come back in the house. If I tell Ripple to come in and get dressed to go bye-byes, he comes running. Not Echo. I held out the harnesses for them, Ripple sticks his head right in and stands still for me to fasten it, not Echo, she ducks and runs.
When I finally get her into the truck she whines the whole way and keeps smacking me her paw trying to get me to drive faster.
Then when we were leaving, she pulled a Lily again. Today Lily was good as we were leaving, but not Echo. She wouldn’t come through the gate, and whenever I’d reach for her she’d duck and run. Finally I said, fine, I’ll leave without you, and she watched us go. I put Ripple in the truck and came back for her, by then she was whining, but as soon as I reached for her she took off again.
She’s lucky she’s cute.

Taco Hell made breakfast, and now my stomach hurts.

Irking a little this morning, then getting ready to go get pictures with the Grinch. I need to finish the laundry I started yesterday.
My son hasn’t taken his final final yet, but today is the last day to take it. He has been studying (or so he says) all week for it. He figured out he has to get at least a 44 (out of 50) on it to keep an A in the class.

I just got some sad news.
I had posted a bit back about my aunt having her 95th birthday, and that my uncle would be 95 on the 13th. He died Friday, on his 95th birthday.

I don’t know about going to the viewing (6-8 pm tomorrow). It’s over 3 hours, 170 miles of mountains, each way, and it’s supposed to snow. I don’t know why the viewing is so late.

Morning all. Weird night. Went to bed about 11pm figuring I’d sleep well, since I had been (moderately) active and had not napped, but woke up about 2am and couldn’t get comfortable at all, so got up and played spider solitaire on the computer till near 4am. When I went back to bed I put on a sleep mask to keep the sun away (good thing, cause it s a N.O.S. day, going to 60F) and stayed in bed until almost 9:30am. So hopefully I’m well-rested.

Snow in Kansas City and Nebraska but clear in Pennsylvania (I go to this Virtual Railfan site I’ve mentioned and click around the different cameras).

Sari, like any teenager, Echo is testing her limits…and your patience.

FCM, I think it was good that you built FCD that workshop…if he was in the house all day you’d probably be contemplating homicide…

Die-C, so you expect us to believe Swiss folks eat non-Swiss cheese? I doubt it…:p:p;)

flyboy, probably going to get a stand for my new TV (whenever that happens), for some reason mounting it on the wall never appealed to me.

All y’all enjoy Sunday.

I’m sorry for your loss sari.

The holiday party last evening was fun. The sesame sweet potato noodles were a hit (as usual), the puzzles I took as a dirty Santa gift were stolen twice and I came home with a lantern for the patio.

Today, I’ll go to the big city of Peagram, TN for a marketplace pickup and make a pear-shallot-rosemary stuffed poke loin and fart blossoms with bacon for supper.

Happy Sunday!

Dog is bathed. I am too. Thinking a nap is in the future.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled.

When I moved here, I had (still have – I need to get rid of it) a 20" Sony CRT TV. In 2007 I got a 26" Panasonic flat-screen. Eventually I bought a 45" Sony flat-screen. What all of these TVs had in common was that they sat on top of the short Ikea shelves. Then Mrs. L.A. bought the 60" Vizio. I was always conscious about where to set a TV. She didn’t give it a thought. The feet for the Vizio were spaced too far apart to sit on the shelf. I had to get a wall mount. Growing up in Earthquake Country (you should have seen what the Northridge quake did to my apartment), the Harbor Freight wall mount did not inspire confidence. But it’s been good. I still try not to think of the four little screws that hold the TV onto the mount, but I console myself that the makers knew what they were doing. The new 65" TV didn’t fall down overnight, so it might be OK.

This morning was marked by a trip to MaulMart for cat food (HSH turned claws down on anything pate). This was fallowed by a trip to BJ’s for D cell batteries, which they only had in expensive brands. I didn’t think so, so Da Jungle got my money for them. Stores were a zoo since yesterday was a monsoon.

Mixed rain and snow and --------------- I volunteered to do split shifts most of this week. S’oK ----- the second shifts are something I don’t mind that my average co-irker HATES so I can get in some extra hours and help TPTB who are all pretty damn fun here. Other than that ---- steaks and shrooms&onions for dinner shortly.

My DVR recorded an episode of SNL from 1998 that Alec Baldwin hosted. He made the opening monologue sound like the entire SNL cast was getting replaced. They had each cast member make their “final moment” comment, and Darryl Hammond, dressed as Bill Clinton, moaned “What am I gonna do if they impeach him? What else have I got besides this?”

I just thought it had so many levels of irony. The actor who played a president on SNL speculated about losing his job if that president was impeached. He said this to the host Alec Baldwin, who two decades later went on to salvage his career by playing the current president, who’s also facing impeachment, on SNL as well. It’s a Lincoln/Kennedy moment.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, et N.O.L. (we bein’ the gourmands we are went to Waffle House), came back to da cave, accomplished nappage, and are now in sloth mode. All in all a good day.

Sari sorry about your uncle. Ninety-five years is a good run, however. I understand about bein’ hesitant to go to the viewin’. Mountains and snow do not sound like a good combo.

Speakin’ of snow… ::Puts out “No Snow” signs.

Got some culture today…& not from a yogurt container, either!  :o

While there were many, many more than that today, what do you call a Tuba quartet?

Tuba Four

Iggles won, too.
On the other side of the coin, best friend, who I’ve known since either K or 1[sup]st[/sup] mom died this moaning. Also got news that someone else is not long for this world.

sari, spidey, I’m sorry about your losses.

Did get out for soccer practice and said goodbye to our two ‘guest soccer trainers’ from Brazil and Italy. Been chillin’ ever since. Looked for the Fedex package that was due today (per their on-line tracking) and it is now due Tuesday…

90-100% chance of rain tomorrow, but it’s supposed to get to 67F, so take the good with the bad.

I think I have come up with a plan for doing the house changes I want; now all I have to do is do them (to help, I wrote up a list, which always motivates me).

All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Back home. It was a nice visit at my sister’s. Roxy and her cousin Grayson seemed to hit it off. This was really the first time they had enough time to play, and they did. My sis and Daughter took lots of pics and posted them on FB for those of you who’ve friended me. If you want to friend me, send me a PM and we can get connected - but not till tomorrow.

Since being home, I’ve changed into comfy clothes, had a bowl of soup, and mixed a batch of chocolate chip cookies to be baked tomorrow. I was going to mix oatmeal cookies also, but I’ll leave them for tomorrow. I just don’t want to deal with it tonight.

And yet again, despite me telling my sister every.single.year that we don’t decorate, she gave us Christmas snow globes. Every year, whatever she gives us ends up at the thrift store. You’d think she’d remember that I gave her all of our ornaments some years ago…

And now, I’ll assume the recline position till bedtime. We shall meet again in the next MMP!

I’m sorry for your loss spidey.

Picked up my marketplace buy and I got my money’s worth. The stuffed poke loin turned out decent, though I’ll leave out the bleu cheese next time and do the sear a different way. The fart blossoms were most excellent though.

I is American living in Switzerland. And I don’t eat American cheese.

I can buy Italian, French, Dutch, British, Greek and Norwegian cheeses in the nearest grocery store.

There are stores in Switzerland where it’s possible to buy specialty cheeses from the U.S., but I live outside the big city.

Sari and Spidey, so sorry for your losses.

I walked to two different stores today to get more bows for wrapping gifts. Both were out, and there aren’t any others that carry that stuff within walking distance. I tried. Henceforth, gifts shall be bow-less.

The propane guy came to fill the tank. Over $177. And the tank rental is due. Over $43. So the propane bill for this month is $221. Happy Christmas. :frowning:

Our office Christmas party is Friday. (I’ll go to Seattle Friday instead of Thursday.) The party is always a Big Secret™. We get on Santa’s Sleigh (a party bus) to be driven to the location, have lunch, and then are driven back to the orifice.

This year, there’s no Santa’s Sleigh; we’re driving ourselves to the location. That is still classified, but at least I know it will be north of the orifice. Good for me! It’s 115 miles from my home to the orifice, so my drive home will be a little shorter than usual. (Yes, we’re leaving after lunch – about 1430. So no waiting for everyone to get loaded onto the bus, going back to the orifice, and then heading back through Seattle traffic.)

A bi-product of making gasoline, it used to be burned off as waste before someone figured out you could bottle and sell it. As a product of gasoline, the price follows that of gasoline, although since some folks need it to heat their house, I don’t believe it goes down when the cost of gas goes down. That was the major expense of living out in the woods.
