Happy Camel Day, mumpers! I have been at irk all day and I am irked. We will be having fun and games in the building next week, apparently we are having two new photocopiers delivered next Friday and they will be installed on the following Monday. That means we have to dismantle and move the two existing copiers so the new ones will have somewhere to go. It also assumes that we don’t use copiers on Fridays or Mondays…in a university…in term time…and our academic staff are able to plan ahead so they have copied anything they need for those days. That’ll be the same staff who rush into our office asking for help with copying because they’re teaching a class in five minutes and they need to take it with them. Yes, that’s going to be hugely successful.
Our copiers are in a room upstairs, specifically two floors away from our admin office…we have a very small lift (the old copiers wouldn’t fit in it) and a narrow spiral staircase that the new copiers have to be taken up. I wonder if I can get those two days off to avoid the inevitable chaos?
Still on page 2? We’re slacking this week. Saw my doc for my regular check and she is very pleased with me, got the new safety school program down and am ready for it. Not bad for a Wednesday in general.
ruble, I had those share of presentations, I’d get something written up, and one-two days before my boss would come and have me re-write the whole damn thing so it was slanted the way they thought it should go…oh joy.
boo fairy, I look forward to the copier stories in the near future. The ability of smart people not to plan ahead (and I include myself in that lexicon) is always good for a chuckle.
Slept in till nearly 0800 today, finally acting retired. Spent many dollars on a tour to Copenhagen, Denmark and Oslo, Norway in July, to see how civilization really works (grin).
Otherwise cooler (52F) and cloudy, but nothing much on the schedule.
Heard back from the Fixit Shop. Polly’s going to have $3K worth of work done (most of that is the catalytic converter). Everything expensive and important has decided to go out at once. Stoopid car.
I had me some leftover N.O.T. soup for lunch. Yum! I shall allow my brain to rest a bit longer before jumping back into the drafting fray.
Not sure what I’ll do for supper tonight - maybe I’ll just stop and grab a rotissed chickie or maybe some sushi on the way home. Or I could order pizza - we got a coupon in the mail yesterday. Decisions, decisions…
Holy cow, big kitty! How old is Polly Suburu and would it be more cost effective to replace her with a younger model?
I got tapped for internal audit duty today. Things that I gave my manager a heads up six years ago have now bitten us in the butt. And, since I’m supposed to be in stealth mode, I can’t even release a primal scream.
After irk, I will be getting my hair cut. I hope that she gives me a good scalp massage when she shampoos me.
First up - I believe this is my 4,000th post! Yes, I’m a mere babe compared to some, but it’s a benchmark nonetheless.
Ours was this one:

It’s like waiting for Finals Week or something. You know it will come. You know it will be terrible. On the other hand, you know it will end. There’s that.
2 sick kids today. One happy dog. Snoozing on the bed, with 2 people to pet him.
Howdy Y’all! Back from my travels to Terrell County, Jawja. That’s were both Dawson and Parrot are located. We spent about an hour pickin’ up limbs so not too bad. There was one really biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig limb that we had to drag to the dump pile. The good thing was it was not too far from the pile. We showered, had some good Mexican comestibles for N.O.L. and visited with JDD’s ‘rents. I stopped at the Pubic sto’ and got dindin which I shall warm up. Rotissed chikin, green peas, mac 'n cheese, squishes, and rolls. Easy-Peasey dindin tonight!
Tonight is paella night at one of our favorite expensive restaurants!
See, during the winter they punch up attendance by having an international night every Wednesday for 10 weeks, and tonight is Spain. There will be tapas, lotsa tapas, culminated by a big (like 36") paella pan chock full of goodness in the corner of the dining room. Seating is family style and a good time is had by all.
We will get stuffed. (In a good way).
Wifey will lament the demise of her diet.
We’ve picked out 4 of the 10 dinners that we want to attend this year.
Tonight: Paella
February 1: Argentinian Steakhouse - best steak I’ve ever had in my life!
February 22: Noche Cubana (we think)
March 8: A Trip to Key West (maybe. There’s usually something with conch in it. One year it was hush puppies. Last year it was chowda. Yum! If we skip it this year it’ll be the first time we’ve missed Key West night. )
March 22: Only Hors d’Oeuvres We’ve never attended this one but we hear it’s terrific, so this year we’re going.
You have to pay money to have the forum report your join date and number of posts. I don’t want to brag, so I don’t pay. Hey, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
Now I’ve gotta go purtify myself. Got an appointment.
blurf Finally saw the Dr. this morning and as I suspected I have bronchitis. So I got a “pink shot” which is cortisone and B12 mixture and antibiotics and a dose pack of more steroids and cough syrup with codeine. I am very wheezy. Doctor told me to go home and get in the bed and start the medicine. I came straight to irk after dropping off the scripts.
I will not be here long though. I just came to put out a few fires and delegate some of my irk. The rest will just have to wait.
Mooommmm I am not going to watch the farce on Firday. I am boycotting.
Swampy You forgot to say OLE’ about Mexican lunch.
**Butters **- I won’t be watching either. The very idea of that ass as the nation’s chief executive sickens me to my core. And his #2 isn’t much better, plus the less said about his cabinet picks, the better.
Supper will be fish-n-chips. On a whim, I grabbed some battered cod fillets from the freezer case and they’re in the oven right now. I have frozen fries that I’ll cook up in about 15 minutes. Not sure what sort of vegetable matter we’ll have.
Glad the work day has wound down. My brain is fried.
Dindin has been ingested. Not to shabby for sto’ bought. OYKW is spendin’ the night at his place as he has an early home health monitorin’ tomorrow not to far from there. I have decided not to go to Evening Prayer. I guess pickin’ up limbs kicked my butt more than I thought. Just don’t want to put the effort into gettin’ dressed and drivin’ there and back, which is a twenty-six mile round trip. I’m thinkin’ an earlyish bedtime with Ty is in order.
Butters glad you got get better drugs. I only OLÈ when I cook Mexican.
So you got the arms & legs & OKYW got the heads & torsos?
The good thing about being home sick (& feeling much better) is that one can deal with the niddly little $#!t; like the collections dept who has called the home phone a few times but are always closed when I get home to the message. Mind you, I haven’t received a bill from them in about 8 months. I called them back today, got someone on the phone, “Hold on”…
When he comes back: “Ignore the call, your balance is $1.50 so we’re going to write it off.” :smack:
Ummm, maybe it’s too small for your system to send out a bill, which is why I didn’t pay it, but if that’s the case, then why where you wasting an employee’s time trying to track me down? I never asked them to waive this, it was their idea.
butters, I won’t be watching the inaugeration either. I’ll be at irk, but I refuse to even stream it or watch clips on the news.
swampy, you sure you don’t want to bring Ben in for a three way?
spidey, the collection agency spent far more than a buck and a half just chasing you down for the dough. When I was in billing, we didn’t even bill for less than $5. It just wasn’t even cost effective.
I got three inches of hair lopped off the noggin this afternoon. The scalp massage felt good. Tomorrow, I put the finishing touches on the internal audit and make the presentation.
