Easy work day. But since it was easy because a truck with 10k packages is going to be too late to process today and will just be waiting for us tomorrow, tomorrow could suck.
Survived the marathon. Short(ish) day tomorrow, then hopefully get my truck.
docaway, good for you for helping kitty.
Docaway. You did good.
Debate was very entertaining. I laughed so much. There must be a shitload of stoopid ppl in this country. That’s all I’m gonna say about that
I started to watch but ------------ a new set of MST3K I haven’t watched showed up today and beckoned to me.
Nuts good luck with the new gig.
Doc good job with Pete.
It was 105 Amurkin here today. That’s just wrong. Possibly related to the wrong, there is a very large wildfire in the Santa Cruz Mountains nearby here. We could see the flames from my folks house today. The town sent out emails telling people they didn’t need to evacuate, but that the air quality was so bad everyone should stay indoors. I got some amazing photographs, both of the fire and of the sun behind the smoke plumes.
Tomorrow I go in for my little surgical thing, where they try and permanently numb some of the nerves in my haid, hoping it will help with the headaches. Tomorrow night, in an excess of optimism, we have tickets to go see the dancing horsies known as Cavalia.
Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and mostly clear (lotsa purty stars!) with a predicted high of 90 and rain this afternoon/evenin’. We shall see. No big plans for the day which is fine by me. Even dindin will be easy as grilled chikin sallit is on the menu.
Sunny hope the surgical thing works. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages shall be crossed.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, who knows. I should purtify I reckon. Sometimes it’s hard bein’ retired. One is faced with so many decisions.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
I was successful in avoiding the debate, opting for the episode of 3rd Rock where the Solomons went to a family reunion. Worth it! The few clips I heard on the morning news convinced me I was right.
**FCD **should be home later today. In fact, if he followed his plans, he should be at least 90 minutes into the trip already. I’m guessing he’ll call when he crosses into Jawja.
It rained overnight and we’re promised more thru Firday - possibly over 2" when it’s all done! Which is great - we need it. Couple that with the gloriously cool temps, and I’m liking fall a lot!
Happy Tuesday!
I forgot about the debate until this morning. Which is really just as well, because I’m sure it would only have made me mad and kept me awake and pissed far later than I wanted to be. Instead I snuggled in and read pretty much all night.
I started to watch it, but it made me ill, so I stopped
Pretty much the same here.
Happy Toosday!
It’s a cool sunny 62 degrees outside.
The mortgage company finally got my payment right. The cable company gave me an offer I can accept. Sah-son got all his papers done on time (barely). I was still proof reading at 11 last night. I got the replacement part for the leaf blower.
I didn’t watch the debates, I can think of better ways to make myself miserable. I already know I don’t like either of them and there is nothing either of them can say to change my mind.
The mail person screwed up yesterday and had everybody’s mail off by one house. So the lady next door got my mail, I got the mail for the assholes on the other side of me. The lady next door apologized for opening my mail, not a big deal. Just a form from the gas company wanting to know why I’m using less gas than normal. For one, it’s summer and the only thing that uses gas is the furnace, but I think it’s really because the new furnace is more efficient and used a lot less gas last winter.
Swampy - you are lucky to have a drama free family. Of course, if my mother didn’t gossip so much I wouldn’t know most of it.
Good luck Sunny, and have fun watching the horses.
I have to call my friend today and remind her to go get her emissions test. She got pulled over last week because her tags are expired. She never got the tag renewal notice because she never got her emissions test. Fortunately, she only got a warning on the tags. She went to get her emissions the next day and because she was almost 70, the nice guy at the emissions station gave her an extension so she could come in after her birthday (two days ago) and get a waiver. She was supposed to go yesterday.
Friends like her make me feel so organized and on top of things.
So co-worker who insists she’s not my boss but still tells me what to do on a regular basis anyway just informed me that she didn’t have time to do a small task and told me that if I couldn’t do it, I could just save it for tomorrow. Said task took me literally less than a minute, 25% of which was spent trying to squeeze my fat self behind co-worker’s chair to get to the shredder.
I really need to find a new job. Now that my hair is a normal color again, maybe it’s time to start searching. I hate job hunting, I hate job interviews, I hate getting new jobs. But I am also sliding into the “I hate it here” zone, too.
Life’s too short to hate your job, so get out there, Drae! Sometimes you’re stuck - ya gotta pay the bills and nothing else is available. Still, look around - you never know what you’ll find!
When I went to retrieve my lunch from the kitchen, I saw it was pouring like crazy out there! Yay for rain! I may not be saying that at the end of the week if the forecast holds true, but for now, YAY!!
**FCD **called when he hit South Carolina a couple of hours ago. His GPS said he should get home around 5:30 - that, of course, assumes no traffic, but still, it’s a good ETA. I’ll be so glad to have him back, and I’m sure Higgs will be happy, too. Ziva, on the other hand, shan’t be thrilled. Sucks to be her, I guess.
Does anybody else have to make notes to remember all the people they want to mention in their posts? Or am I the only one who can’t remember?
Now, let’s see, where was I…
Drae, don’t give up the job you have, but be looking around, I was lucky to fall into the ‘perfect’ job almost 30 years ago (and even it had its’ rough moments), hope you can find your perfect spot.
FCM, glad FCD is doing well enough to make that long a trip…bet he’s tired by the time he gets home. No catching cold!
Doc, I hardly knows ya, but good on you with the cat. Lots wouldn’t have gone even half as far as you did.
Sunny, here’s hoping the operation relieves your pain. I know what it was like, my mom had cronic pain the last 20 years of her life and it wasn’t fun for any of us, especially her.
Sari, Yeah! for all the good news. You’ve earned it. ANd a bonus yeah for helping the neighbor out.
Did not watch the debate, but followed the commentary on the SD election board and another Forum. Think I made the right choice.
My new washing machine, which wasn’t working when it got installed, suddenly started working yesterday. I think it had to do with me turning the water on (or off, I am not sure), but anyway got two loads of clothes done. This is a agitator-less (no central column) machine and the sound it makes is different than my old one, but I’ll get used to it. It also doesn’t have a rinse dispenser, so I have to add that myself. But at least it is working.
Watering the yard, it hasn’t rained here in over a week; however, it is below 80F so maybe (maybe!) fall is actually going to arrive in October.
Ziva is a paramour?
Ziva is a feline who doesn’t like our canine. She’s been able to wander the house unmolested since Thursday, but that’s about to end…
As has my lunch. Back to work!
Gaah, heard nothing from the interview yet, and it’s nearly 5 now… Hopefully it’s just that they can’t email from work, as there isn’t an office there, but I’m utterly temporally bewildered due to being up all night, so it feels really late to me.
Job hunting is indeed rotten, Drae, as are interviews. Trying to somehow demonstrate that you are a better match to whatever imaginary employee is in the interviewer’s head than a bunch of other suckers you’ve never met, one of whom might already have basically got the job because they know the boss or used to work there or something, but they have to go advertise and interview and everything anyway because rules. I hates it I does.
Ahem
Anyway, I have ice cream and homemade apple blackcurrant pie. Life is not all bad.
Howdy Y’all! I went back to bed for a bit just cause I could. After that I purtified and made a chawklit cake which is now coolin’. I shall whomp up a chawklit icin’ for it when the mood strikes. Doesn’t take long to do so, just don’t want to right now. So we’ll have a relatively healthy dindin of grilled chikin on sallit with cheesey bread followed by chawklit cake. Sounds like a well balanced meal to me!
Drae never hurts to look. Good luck!
