The Imsomniac MMP

I think I’ll have a blurf as well.

Well, actually slept in till near 0700 today. Still need to water the back yard this morning (no rain in the forecast until next week at the earliest) and find some sustenance (end of the month and the cupboard is getting bare). Outside of that, not much on the schedule for today.

I am thinking about painting my kitchen cabinets from the basic white they have been since I moved in to a more…walnut, I guess, type color. Guy at Home Depot gave me some advice, I need to find out if it’s an oil-based or water-based paint, so if I get enough ambition I may do something about finding that out. But it’s more of a ‘thinking about it’ project than a ‘go get the paint and brushes’ project at the moment.

Ah, lunch. **FCD **called a bit ago and said it was raining so hard, he had to close some windows. Fortunately, I’d closed the dining room sliding door before I left (Higgs was barking at the neighbor dog) - when it rains hard, the splash back from the deck makes the dining room carpet soggy by the door. And at one point, it was raining hard enough here that I heard it, and there’s a floor above me to deaden the sound! Anyway, yay, we’re getting rain!

Busy morning to be followed by busy afternoon. I suspect if I wasn’t so tired, I’d be more productive. But it’s getting done, so there’s that. I think the n00b is spending his day out in the shops… tho I don’t recall seeing him yet today, now that I think of it. Weird.

**MetalMouse **- you don’t need paint. Just get some Contac paper! That’ll change the look of your cabinets for certain!! Goodness knows, it did wonders for the kitchen walls in this house before we remodeled. Yep, previous owners use it instead of wall paper. Classy…

PS: C’mon, Firday!

Is it Quit O’Clock yet?

Nuts, I hope you finally heard from the new job and that it was good news.

Happy Hump Day!

It’s raining here, but not hard.
I suppose that is why I am so sleepy.

I must be on the scam caller list today. I thought the government was supposed to be putting an end to robo-calls.

I survived :eek:WallyWorld:eek: and Sam’s. Sam’s first cause all I needed was tp (I was down to four twelve packs!), paper towels, and laundry detergent. Also, I gassed up twuck. Perishables were bought from :eek:WallyWorld:eek:. Everything is where it dwells at da cave and the enchiladas are made up and ready to go in the oven when it’s time to bake 'em up. Go Me! I foresee nappage.

Please tell me you can save your reputation as the TP king; are they at least triple rolls?

Knowing Swampy, they’re probably the really big industrial rolls, like you find in the irk loo, where each ‘roll’ is equivalent to about a dozen the normal person uses at home.

I’m wondering if there are any helpful books or online courses on how best to start one’s own Clowns in the Woods group? Thanks in advance.

metal mouse, do yourself (and the next owner of your house) a favor if you paint the cabinets: spring for new hardware. No only will it look better, it will ease the reinstallment of the doors and drawer/door pulls.

I have to wonder just how does swampy go through that much TP with just two dudes at the cave? :stuck_out_tongue:

The maintenance guys finally came to my apartment yesterday and knocked out most of the work orders. Now, in addition to having a commode that isn’t constantly running, I can wash the sheets, towels and drawers in hot water, bake a casserole and start shopping for patio furniture.

**Red **- I’m guessing swampy puts on tights and a cape at night and TPs the neighborhood - as The Phantom Paperer!!! <dun-dun-duuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnn>

Or not.

They did get back to me, that was what this was about

Very glad I have that coming, someone at irk (who I’ve never really got in with, but haven’t had a real problem with) decided to basically pick a fight with me today, and apparently a customer heard us arguing and complained, so the boss will be sitting down with the two of us tomorrow, with nothing other than our words for what happened. Joy.

Da cave is smellin’ enchiladaicious! OLÉ! Dindin shall be nummy.

When I was but a young bear, I ran out of tp a couple of days before payday. Fortunately the place where I irked let me take home a couple of rolls. Since then, I have remained well stocked. Plus also, OYKW gets tp for his place from da cave. Thus I supply two people even if he does spend most of his time here. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Nuts maybe you can irk full-time at the new place and get rid of that co-irker for good.

The new place, if it happens, will indeed be full time, so will permit the quittage of current place.

As it happens, I know most of the co-irkers I get on with are either leaving too or looking to move, due to many reasons (rumour has is the boss is quittin’ too, and she certainly seems to be losing interest in the place). I’ll miss some of the regular customers though, we have some brilliant ones.

If friday goes well, and new place happens, it will in theory be a slight pay cut, but it’s closer, is normal working hours (no crazy earlies, no lates, no splits…), allows tips (current place does not), and staff get a free lunch (current place gives 50% off). Plus, and it is a big plus for me, it’s independent, so there are no ludicrous corporate targets sent down by some faceless eejit in a head office somewhere.

Poor Percy, but today I went up to see him and decided I had had enough, so I scooted him out of the bedroom and shut the door. His litter box is in the hall, to be moved later. His water is upstairs still and his food is on the bottom step. Now he’s downstairs with us, hiding between the love seat and the wall. I’m surprised he could fit his fat ass in there.

He’s run past the dog twice and the dog is still oblivious.

Moooom, do you think swampy might have been the one that papered the oak tree outside my door? :stuck_out_tongue: I figured teenagers, but he could be going through his second childhood.

Frankly, Red, I can’t swear that he ever completed is first childhood.

We let Cracker Barrel make supper, and we drove thru some nasty-ass storms both ways. But supper was good and now we’re home in veg mode. I’ll be going to bed early - I’s tahred. But my sweetie’s home, so life is good.

Howdy Y’all! Home from Evening Prayer and Healing Service over to the church house. 'Twas nice as usual.

I would never waste tp on trees. OK, many, many, many years ago yes, but not now. As to my childhood, I had to grow up but nobody said I had to act like a grown up.

There’s only one appropriate response when you boss calls you both into his orifice:

“She started it. Tbhttbbhhtttbbhhhttbbhhhtttbbbtthh
Get it?
Got it?
Good!

Off to forage for some dinner. Stopped & got drained by the American Red Vampires on the way home. Smart nurse; he put the tape on my watch. I don’t mind donating blood, it’s the arm hairs I’m not fond of parting with when the rip the tape off at the end.

Good wishes on all of the work woes, appliance issues, and hazardous health, and Rosie’s sig all around. I’m too lazy to drag out the laptop, and replying to everyone via multi-quote/delete is a gigantic hassle on da phone.

Trying to get some work done outside the house this week. Installed most of the shelves in the storage building, while my dear old dad tried to help and generally got in the way. I will try to get the last bit done after he goes home for the weekend. Also had a load of dirt brought in to fill in holes in the back yard. The driver had to dump one big mound, versus spreading the load a bit, due to the angle of the fence and gate, but it’s cool. At least it’s inside the fence. (And I’ve been tasked with keeping my dad here, and out of my mom’s way, until Friday. He’s as happy as a lark, slowly spreading dirt with “help” from the 4-year-old. And the kid is even happier, because a pile of dirt and a preschooler go together like peas and carrots. And I’m happy, because it will be awesome to use the riding mower in the fenced area. Couldn’t do that before, due to the probability of getting stuck in the excavations dug by the late lamented puppy dog.)

Made chicken and dumplings for dinner, and made my dad happy. Ma makes perfectly good rolled dumplings, but I find them heavy. I make drop dumplings, and do a couple of other things differently - roasted chicken, versus boiled; aromatics in my broth; veggies. We’re not allowed to tell her, but my dad likes my version better. (And the whole family must’ve liked them. The Big Yellow Pot was full - 2 gallons maybe? I put the leftovers into a pint container.)

Worst bit of the whole day: I cleaned the bleeping dishwasher filter. A thorough cleaning requires removal of 19 screws (5 different varieties) and 6 other parts. Because it’s such an enormous PITA, I don’t clean the damned thing as often as I should. It was gross.

Also the living room TV died tonight. So I guess it’s time for a new one. Boo.

Just another day of fighting TVCTPMO. The battle continues. But I can go to Training Camp tomorrow before work ,and Friday is real, live, hockey. I’m making Old Bay fish, roasted corn, and tomato Bachelor Food for dinner.

I’d say check a used bookstore, but that might be Pennywise, and pound foolish.

swampy, that’s why I always hoard TP. And tequila.
